Also, the black/gilt version (which you didn’t mention), has the matching all green luminova as well, just as the burgundy does. There are four versions of this watch. A burgundy, a blue, a black/blue dial version, and the black/gilt version. I purchased the black/gilt version, which I feel is the closest to what most people think of when they think of a Tudor Black Bay 58. Either way, I absolutely and thoroughly enjoy all of your videos, and really take to heart your analysis of these timepieces. You really help me make informed decisions about my purchases and I thank you for doing them. Fantastic reviewer!
Basically I agree to your meaning about the colors of the besel and the crown. I see Pagani has its own designers and they know how and can in colors composition. This is good. But on the other side, their color schemes are "too shiny", they do not look expensive enough. In any catalog with the pictures and without the descriptions you can always point at the Pagani watches by this shiny shiness.
Hi John I bought the black BB58 version of this and I know you cannot compare this to the San Martin version in terms of quality and finish but I really like the dimensions of the PD1671. I like the chunkier feel to it.
I ordered this watch in the sale, it arrived yesterday and I'm pleased to say they have sorted that brushing out. I'm very impressed with it however it was losing a ridiculous amount of time ( 15 minutes in a few hours so I regulated it myself and now it's a lot better)
Thank you for watching Biff. Congratulations. Excellent choice. Yes, check the other comments; someone posted pictures of theirs; which also has improved brushing on the flanks. I am glad they have improved this negative. Wear yours in good health. Regards.
I have left a previous comment to this review and have since purchased the black/gilt version with red aluminium bezel, which looks really nice....way more interesting than the blue dial version. The lack of AR coating doesn't seem to affect the look of this particular dial due to the matt finish as many of PD's other offerings. The brushed flanks of the case on my one looks finer and significantly better finished, no lateral play on the bezel, lines up perfectly with the minute track markers and has only a TINY bit of backplay which isn't noticeable unless you physically move the bezel side to side and is not an issue for me. Nobody is going to use this as a dive watch, so the crappy 'divers extention' is totally superfluous (as you quite correctly pointed out). It's quite a hefty watch, but with a perfect fit for me it doesn't flop around on my wrist. Not a daily wear for me, however mine has been well regulated and is running within COSC specs.Very pleased with this purchase!!!
Congratulations Graham. Wear yours in good health. Yes, this was one of the early ones they produced. After much criticism of the rough finishing on the flanks; they improved the brushed satin finishing. Regards, #WR4K
I just received this exact blue 1671 (via Amazon @ $109). I'm glad to say that the lume is all one color, green; and, the finish on the flanks is improved over the sample you reviewed. I'm pleasantly surprised with how nice the watch looks.
I have the crimson version and I took a little Flitz polish to the flanks and it refines the finish to be closer to that on the bracelet. I have a black and crimson Barton’s rubber strap and a Breitling style deployant strap in black with crimson stitching which really brings the weigh on wrist down. The quality of the bracelet is much better than some of their earlier watches but the dive extension just needs to be replaced with a simple link and spring bar. I really want the Pepsi GMT version as well.
Beautiful watch, which I ordered during the last AliExpress sale. Unfortunately, the have a 6 3/4” wrist snd I thought that putting this on a leather strap would work well, but now all I can do is worry that it will be too big, according to your analysis. I guess I’ll probably just turn around and resell it on eBay or something now. I’m so disappointed that I already purchased it. 😱....I’m hoping beyond hope, that I still like the watch and I can make it work on my smaller wrist. Or I may just return the watch ASAP, and get a refund. I was so excited about this watch, sadly, not so much now....😢
I think you will find the 50mm lug to lug too long for your 6.75" wrist. Also as discussed in my review; the 14.6mm thickness and 180 grams heft makes it feel top heavy. Regards.
I will also be rebrushing the sides of this watch to my own liking. I feel that just like brushing a polished steel bracelet, you can do the same to this watch case. It should be easy to do. Although, I agree that Pagani should fix this issue (and the other issues) themselves. Hopefully on the next models, they will.
I think the best method of refinishing the flanks of the case would be to first use a Dremel and green jewellers rouge with a fibre buffing wheel. Then use a Scotchbrite pad to change it from mirror polished back to brushed satin finish. See link below to the green jewellers rouge I use for 316L grade stainless steel. I went for the Red one because if the lume issues with the others and also the crown ring will match the bezel. Hope the case finishing is better on the one I receive, your one is pretty poor as you mentioned John. Fingers crossed, mine arrives at some point this year. (Ordered the Pagani NTTD at the same time) Thanks for another great video, nice detail as always. Be safe :)
A real shame you have had issues with the trendy men's watch store. I have bought a few watches off them and their service has been great. Shipping during the covid pandemic has been problematic (at best), so it's not necessarily the vendor's fault if it takes a while to get your items (NB. Aliexpress standard shipping, while free, is ALWAYS HORRENDOUSLY SLOW, and yes it does come 'on a slow boat from China' as the saying goes.) There is currently a shortage of NH35A movements in China due to a Covid outbreak in Maylasia. Prices of NH35A movements have increased due to supply drying up. You always mention the warranty as if it is a good thing, but it's not really worth anything, at least not in my experience. I bought two of the Pagani GMT models; a Pepsi and a Batman. I bought the Pepsi directly from Pagani, and the Batman from Amazon. Both of them were faulty. The hacking feature on the Batman didn't work. The Pepsi was running extremely fast (over an hour per day) and the case had been buffed so badly that the shape of case was distorted. I was able to return the Batman (bought on Amazon) the same day I received it, and I received an immediate refund. As for the Pepsi, I tried to open a warranty claim. Pagani acted like a typical Chinese ebay seller, using delaying tactics such as taking several days to respond, asking me to send multiple photos (including photos of parts of the watch that were irrelevant to the claim, such as the bracelet) and eventually a video of the watch running. They claimed they used the video to determine whether the watch was running fast, and determined that it was operating within acceptable parameters (which it most definitely was not). I tried to make a claim through my payment method (I think it was PayPal but it's been a while and I can't remember for sure), and Pagani did exactly the same thing, running out the clock and asking for photos and videos etc. then claiming it was running within the advertised parameters. If I wanted to prove otherwise, I would have had to pay a qualified watchmaker to write an official letter explaining the fault. In the end, I did exactly what they wanted, which was to decide that it wasn't worth the hassle any more and gave up. I still have the watch. The deformed case looks so bad that it's not worth paying a watchmaker to try to regulate it. I'm planning on buying a timegrapher soon, so maybe I'll turn it into a project. The lessons I have learned are as follows: 1. That plastic warranty card is just part of the packaging. The warranty is meaningless, and Pagani will go to great lengths not to honor it. 2. Spend the little extra money to buy from Amazon, so you have some recourse if you get a lemon. 3. Stick to the models that have Seiko movements, and avoid the GMT models with the Chinese movements.
The PD-1671 is a Black Bay Heritage homage. The Pelagos case has crown guards. The Black Bay Heritage doesn't. Also the Pelagos has a ceramic bezel insert. The Black Bay Heritage has an aluminium bezel insert. Regards, #WR4K

The lessons I have learned are as follows:
Stay at that lume pip?
Thank you for watching. I don't understand your question. Regards, #WR4K
Excellent review John,
Pagani Design have come a long way.

Thank you for watching Steven. Glad you enjoyed it. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards.
No black bay homage....pelagos homage yes....👍
The PD-1671 is a Black Bay Heritage homage. The Pelagos case has crown guards. The Black Bay Heritage doesn't. Also the Pelagos has a ceramic bezel insert. The Black Bay Heritage has an aluminium bezel insert. Regards, #WR4K
Pagani now makes a V2 version with round hour indices and no date.
"Pelagos Bay"
Thank you for watching. Regards, #WR4K.
