    I finished my internship at Bara last year, this video brought back so many memories! Well done for getting through surgery and almost medicine!! Ward calls are the worst. Keep your head up, just keep swimming, internship will pass. Also you speaking up about mental health struggles makes me so hopefully for our generation of doctors 🙌

    I remember internship. Did Internal Medicine as my first rotation and I was 6 weeks post partum. I didn't qualify for paid Maternity leave so I had to work so I could support myself and my family (m husband was unemployed at the time.)
    I ended up needing emergency leave twice in the span of the 2 year internship. The last time I broke down during call (after doing Night Call and morning rounds back to back the whole weekend and still being a mom to a toddler and a wife). I was incredibly suicidal and cried for 3 hours straight (I had to put my baby to sleep while sobbing still). My husband had to come fetch me from work 2 hours before his business flight to another province.
    Medicine is not easy and I can't say it gets better. What helps is being attuned to your feelings and having a good support system❤

    Hey Dr Mhlanga, I'm a 5th year medical student and there are days I've always questioned if this is what I've been really called for, will I ever be as good as that one doctor I see at the hospital, will I be able to do all the things they do alone. How will I be during internship, is this really what I want. But there are days where I come back from hospitals and I feel so much joy and happiness and I accomplish so many things I didn't think I can. I'd just like to let you know that you've come this far Nosipho and this is exactly where you are suppose to be you will make great Doctor and you will survive through internship too, many have done it before us, so can you. I've had days when I struggle to wake up in from bed in the mornings, try to make excuses but I always remember that God has chosen me to go through this, out of all the children who wanted to get into medicine, he chose me for a reason and this applies to you too. I know it's difficult now but know that this is what you have been called to Do and you are exactly where you are supposed to be, you've accomplished so much so far, girl you've graduated from med school, you can do this too. You have come so far you can do this!! Even taking this video and speaking About your journey of depression just shows how much you are capable of, the devil loves to feed us negative thoughts because he knows you are destined for greatness. Believe it babe this is what you have been called for and God would have not given this to you if he knew you wouldn't be able to handle it. He is with you even now the same way he was with you through med school, he will never leave you and he will see you through this too. Trust him. You can do this!!! ❤️❤️ You inspire me and I'm proud of you sis❤️

    I affirm that I am enough for my role, I am fully equipped with knowledge to know what's best for my patients. Although I don't have all the resources I need to practice, I can still go above and beyond with what I currently have been provided with. God is good, God is within me. Sickness and failure will never reside in me.

From how you studied a different course in order for you to get into school of medicine, to how much you enjoyed it and your “study with me” videos , your sleepless nights to showing us the unfamiliar side or less spoken about side of studying medicine. You are so well spoken and articulate. This by no means is not a skill that many can say hold. You explain and draw in your audience and make them understand you very well. I hope you are in a better place now, thank you for sharing such sensitive details about your experience so honestly and genuinely. I felt like this you did last year, I relate so well to everything you feel. Take care of yourself and thank you for everything you are currently doing. We sincerely appreciate it.

    Thank you so much for your vulnerability. Thank you for your services too💕🤗.
    Oh I love how passionate you are about Med,truly is a calling.In the thick of it all,it still crossed your mind to want to do better for your patients.
    Got into med, pressured by my parents and HS teachers.U was so depressed and I knew I wanted to be a CA...ended up dropping out. That's what I am doing r.n and needless to say,it's hectic and at times I even question if I'm even good enough or I'm in the right path or should have continued with med.(NO,lol)
    I am glad we're having these conversations and touching base on matters that come with being in our respective career fields.Also this vid made me really appreciate Dr's (and health-workers) even more. Y'all rock!❤

      Hey palesa. I have a question. I'm studying N.Dip in Biomedical technology at Uj...can I get into medicine or I need to get a btech first?

    • @kelsleyjade3369
      @kelsleyjade3369 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mercymckay8274 Unfortunately you will have to do a Btech first. The minimum considerations for GEMP are a Bachelor's degree or a Bachelor of Technology degree level.

    Thank you for sharing your truth. I also deal with depression and yes it can be so overwhelming that you don't even want to put on makeup or look nice or have an upbeat attitude. I can totally relate. Be strong and be kind to yourself. Proud of you for endeavoring in your medical career. I think it is important for people, especially people of color, to talk about our mental health struggles so that others know they are not alone and feel like they are not abnormal and can feel empowered. Be blessed!!

    @Nosipho Mhlanga - Siyabonga and Askies sisi. Starting somewhere and something new is not always easy. Hang in there maKhabako, hang in there nkosazana. Just know that we are here if you wanna talk, our ears are wide open and we care so much for you. I'm pretty sure you are and will make a very good doctor, your passion and love for the field says it all. Most of us do go through some similar burden just after starting on our loved careers, and it is to my understanding that the medical field is one of the most overtaxing fields. Nosi, please check in your emails or instagram DM or Facebook private msgs, I sent some msgs there. Wishing you all the best hey.
