  • Audio Technica M40x Ear pad replacement: I needed replacement ear pads for my Audio Technica M40x headphones so I tried the Wicked Cushions and made this how-to video about the process of replacing the pads (aka ear cushions). It's actually quite a simple process and makes the headphones much more comfortable to use.
This same technique works on most headphones including the ATH-M30x and the ATH-M50x Ear pads as well many other brands including Sony and Bose.

Just wanted to say thank you for uploading this! I've had my m40x headphones for years now, and I've never replaced ear pads before - this is exactly what I needed to know, and it was the first thing to come up when I searched. :) Thanks for the 2 week update included in the video, rather than as a separate upload.

top tip, just avoid any material soft fabric pads, you will not get the bass response compared to the originals

Hello there, do you know what the thin layer in the original earpad are called? Mine are torn apart. Can you suggest anything else as replacement for that thin layer? The sound profiles really change without them.

Sorry I don't know the name of it. That sounds like a question for the manufacture of perhaps a creator that focuse a lot more on headphone stuff! Thanks for dropping by!
