  • 2021 Dodge Durango SXT Review featuring a RWD model with close to 9,000 miles on it. The Dodge Durango received a variety of changes for the 2021 model year. This base model Durango is a great value proposition. See my Dodge Charger R/T Review: • 2020 Dodge Charger RT ...
    In this review of the base model 2021 Dodge Durango SXT, I also test the Pentastar V6 and its real-world performance. The highlight of Dodge products is the abundant choices of V8s, but I do believe for most families, the V6 will prove to be more than capable while being economical.

    It's a great no nonsense SUV and it actually feels solid. Sure the Toyota Highlander and Honda Pilot are great offerings too but they feel like raised cars and their pricing has been steadily increasing over the years.

    I have had my Durango SXT all wheel drive for about two months and I absolutely love it. I do agree Dodge seems to tax the hell out of you for everything I can't believe it did not have blind spot monitor standard 🙄. Everything else fuel economy and suspension is great for me no issues going toe to toe with other chargers and Challengers at all even the upper models. Great vehicle definitely recommend it to anyone.

    “It’s rear wheel drive so I did try to get it sideways”. Yup, that’s why I watch you!👌 I had a 2004 Durango 5.7 Hemi Limited AWD, it handled pretty good also and also rode pretty firm, but the issue was with the all wheel drive system, there was a pretty decent delay in the time it took to kick in and if you were to say kick out the tail on a gravel corner and drift half the corner, it would kick in in the middle of the corner and just about throw you in the ditch. Much the same on an icy corner, if you overcooked it and tried to drift the corner to compensate the AWD would screw up that plan! I just drove a 2021 Edge a few days ago and really liked it, handled great and rode pretty smooth also, I am planning to try a Telluride soon.

My wife has the Lexus RX 350 Sport Luxury with the V6 and is fine but the performance SUV with the V8's you have are insane. I love the Penterstar V6 I love to rev them out, but if you plan to purchase a Durango it's best to buy a V8. My grandmother was wanting me to find a replacement for her 14 T&C Limited, and honestly I was looking into a Durango RT or Citadel with the 5.7 but it didn't have enough legroom. She now has a Pacifica Pinnacle, but man I really love the Durango's especially the RT and SRT.

    Cloth seats need to make a comeback!! I would absolutely love the option to get more premium options without needing to upgrade to leather. Granted my experience is limited, but the few fake leathers I've tried were not good at all. Rather have some real high end leather seats or cloth all day.

    • @Meetoon733
      @Meetoon733 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@paladin3116 to each his own, I'm clearly in the minority here since automakers clearly despise offering cloth outside of base models. IMO they're just much more comfy until you get into actually nice seats, the mid tier seats are just trash to me

    • @MeynMotorGroup
      @MeynMotorGroup  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Actually Idk if you guys knew this but in Japan, leather is not the material of luxury used there, it's actually wool or cloth seats.
      The Toyota Century comes with wool seats and leather is simply an option but the wool is considered the premium choice due to the comfort and how well it keeps a neutral temperature.
      But majority of society has adopted Leather as the material of choice for luxury cars, this notion most likely came from Europe and Italian goods so we won't be seeing a shift to cloth seats...ever 😅😔
      Best cloth seats I have tried tho is in the CX9 Mazda

      @@MeynMotorGroup Exactly. I just checked my area for new inventory, the Base you can have for under $35k. A brand-new three-row suv for under $40k is very good value. The RT’s were rare, there’s only one in a 50 miles radius of my area and it’s $55k. That’s expensive compared to the base.

    The floaty feeling your feeling in the Durango is because the Durango is still built off Mercedes ML chassis so it’s built for luxury and also the v6 is hella thirsty too. It’s a 25 gallon fuel tank to put that in words the Tahoe is the same size and that’s a full truck

    • @MeynMotorGroup

    Test drove both the SXT and the GT Durango. Ended up finding that the SXT was not as comfortable or as well riding as the GT. So for the extra few bucks I ended up going with the GT all wheel drive. Got the 3.6 6 cylinder engine. • @Mike-0201

      The GT gives remote start, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, fog lights, a power liftgate, 20-inch wheels, and a dual exhaust (offers 2 more hp) which isn’t offered in the SXT. The GT carries over other standard amenities from the SXT. I do believe the GT also has a slightly better suspension. I could tell there was a difference and it definitely just not the bigger tires that gave it the better ride. I have now had it 6 months and LOVE it! I travel a lot and get the following mpg, 21 /26. No complaints for an SUV this size.

    These days I'm into anything rwd and manual unfortunately people keep voting in these climate nuts that are destroying our cars.. look at California if you ordered a new Porsche you can not have a manual because they say it's too noisy.. now I just want a tank to destroy these computers on wheels 🤣😂🤣

    They just aren't reliable with bad resale value as a result.
    Chrysler products as a whole are poor quality. I'd personally never buy one.

      Well resale seems to have gone up in this market. But leasing is def the best way to enjoy Stellantis vehicles

    Got a brand new one as a rental. The V6 is impressive although the way it vibrates over 3K RPM it feels like it is going to grenade. Giant SUV with a tiny back seat to make room for a third row, even if you don't have the third row. The caro lids have sharp unfinished edges,l I have sliced myself more than once. The base stero somehow has bass that is annoying and irritating and I like a bass heavy system. They gave it a way too sensitive throttle. The slightest increase in throttle makes it drop 2-3 gears and almost redline. I'd prefer it to do that in sport mode and be more relaxed in non-sport. v8 fuel economy out of the v6. base model does not even get a 12v outlet in the backseat. The steering has zero feedback. I'm asuming it's electric. At first the interior looks nice, then you quickly realizxe it has zero quality and is all crappy plastic. There are rattles and creaks in the back. The heated seats have three settings: too hot, and is it on?, and is it on? The heated steering wheel warms the steering wheel to about 3 degrees warmer than it was. Also, I've had several cars even from the 90's with climate control. Every one of them was smart enough to keep the fan speed low until the engine heated up for heat. That way you aren't getting blasted by cold air. The Dodge? Nope. In full auto on a 34F degree morning and it immediately has the blower on high. I see Chrysler is still same subpar product it has been.
