    Alone
    Season 3
    Episode 1
    In Alone, ten men are left in solitude, and separated from each other, in the harsh Vancouver Island wilderness. With no camera crews or producers, they have to survive using only what they can stuff into a backpack. They will hunt, build shelters and fend off predators as they face extreme isolation, psychological distress and the terrifying plunge into the unknown.

    Mylar blankets trap moisture, so it's a very idea bad to put close to your skin (or in shoes). It is meant to put loosely around you on top of your clothes.

      When your feet are already wet and cold that doesn’t matter.

    Great. I'd like to see more about their use. But destroying your only possible means of cover and shelter seems foolish. Also they didn't cut eye slits in the sunglasses how can he see where he's going? A hack I learned from army ranger Rick is converting one into a poncho/serape for warmth

      The blanket is actually see-through. I tried it once when my sunglasses were damaged. It worked pretty well

    • @sheelynguandan6459

      @@paulinepl6395 yes it's see-through

    • @larsonfamilyhouse
      @larsonfamilyhouse 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I think it’s meant as a last resort for if you have to traverse snow and you are unable to see. Snow reflects light exponentially and can be so bright you can’t see.

    • @utubestalkerdotcom
      @utubestalkerdotcom 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it is see through only when light is on other side. you only able to see through if you get close enough to it

    This is crazy dangerous. You can't even put these inside your sleeping bag without condensation. There meant to go outside your sleeping back and clothes. Never close to skin.

    Can you use Mylar foil blanket sheets like in this video to wrap around pipes to avoid freezing?

    • @larsonfamilyhouse
      @larsonfamilyhouse 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, they only reflect heat. It wont keep pipes from freezing. Use heat tape and/or leave water at a fast drip and leave lower cupboards open at night to help heat circulate

    • @colonialrebel9964
      @colonialrebel9964 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, you need to insulate the pipes to keep the heat in and the cold out. All this does is reflect body heat, it does little against the elements.

      Vigilance elite(SEAL) talked about how he was moving through the snow and was borderline blind for a couple days because he had no eye protection. No sight isn’t optional but it’s better than being out for days

      Split it in half like a sticker or cut slits for eyes. Eskimos used bones with slits cut in them, same concept.

    The shoe insert is quite nifty. Great for late night hiking. Thanks!

    • @larsonfamilyhouse

      It can make your feet sweat which can be extremely dangerous to have wet feet- you can get hypothermia and frost bite super easy that way. Best to try in a warmer non survival situation of course, like everything.

    Horrible advice. In freezing weather you will end up cutting off the toes and just craming the mylar it into the footwear will end up with Horrible blisters.
