@@Zeptoid It's the (hood) that makes the head look wider. And plus, it's kind of a big drawing
Because he's copying a photograph. This is not an original piece. You saw at the start that he's using a grid. That let's you know he's copying it.

It's not tricky when the background is made dark and all one has to do us rely on the white of the paper and soft rendering to create texture. It's easy to draw or paint pale or white fabric.
The white pencil crayon acts as a blender. Until actual blenders were available, all pencil crayon artists bought a excess of black and white crayons, because the white could be applied to blend other colours together and soften edges. Blenders do the same thing but they are mostly transparent so you end up with a less opaque effect, but in black and white drawings like this one, sometimes a white is better because you're looking for a smoother, opaque effect.

Except it's not an original drawing by hand. If you pay attention at the start you'll see he's using a grid. He's gridded it off because he's copying it from a photograph using a grid technique. That's why the drawing style is so unnatural. No original artist draws like this. Because it's a copying technique.
