One of the craziest parts of learning Spanish is how when you do, you'll also partially understand other languages, and we as English speakers don't usually experience this.
So sometimes you'll hear an Italian, a speaker of catalán, or Portuguese, and somehow make sense of lots of things despite never having studied them. Honeslty I would suggest anyone learn Spanish before any other language. There are just problems other languages will definitely give you that Spanish won't.
Like, yes, it's complicated grammatically speaking, but so much easier to read and pronounce properly, and once you have a sense of how that grammar works, you'll see just how systematic and easy it is. It just doesn't feel that way when you are memorizing all of the conjugations at first, but eventually you will see patterns and it will just become innate.

Oh yes, In fact, I believe there are more Spanish speaking people in America than English people because you have to consider that there are a lot of latinos (like me) in North America and the rest of the continent (besides Brazil) speak Spanish. Also it can be really helpful if you also want to learn Italian or Portuguese (I'm starting to learn Portuguese and I feel that there is some similarity to my main language, Spanish). I do suggest learning latin Spanish (aka the American version) because "castellano" (Spain version of Spanish) is fast and sometimes its hard to understand unless you are very fluent on Spanish overall

As a Spanish speaker, I needed to reassure myself that this language is important and I just realized that if I didn't speak Spanish, I would have been missing out on so many songs and their meaning. Not necessarily the most popular ones, but old school.

It depends...True, you're right in the sense that it can be challenging to some people, but others may find it extremely fun and easy...Spanish is also one of the easiest languages for people to learn in comparison to other languages...All countries around the world have their own slang. This happens in English also, but basically, the essence of the language is the same, it's the same language.. I'm not from Ecuador, but I have no problems understanding a person from Ecuador, it's the same language....En ingles sucede lo mismo, existen palabras y dialectos del ingles diferentes, a lo igual que en Castellano. Un Ecuatoriano puede estar hablando con alguien de Argentina o Mexico y se van a entender perfectamente bien. Claro que regionalismos hay en todas partes. En Inglaterra por ejemplo dicen Lorry , en Estados Unidos Truck...Pero un Britanico y Un Norteamericano , apesar de usar algunas palabras diferentes, se entienden perfectamente. Es lo mismo en Castellano.

Hello, I hope you have learned more Spanish and have not given up.
I think the best way to learn a language is through songs, you can look for a video with an English translation of a Spanish or Latin song and at the same time it has Spanish subtitles.
I recommend these songs:
• Costa Rica - Daniela Spalla
• Duermedela - Saurom
• Nunca es suficiente - Natalia Lafourcade
• Relación - Sech
There is a bit of everything in my recommendations, listen to the style that you like the most. If you can't find a video with the English translation, you can search for it on the internet in translation pages while you have a tab with the song, I recommend this option.

You're absolutely correct. Spanish and Arabic have countless of words in common. The Arabs were in Spain for many centuries and their influence can be clearly seen not only in the Spanish language , but in Spain's rich culture, architecture, music etc.
