  • If you are unfamiliar with the WJ knuckle swap it entails swapping the stock knuckles to knuckles from a 99-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. There are not many steering upgrades out there for the XJ Cherokee, and this allows for a heavy duty steering upgrade and a big break upgrade! Here at Core 4x4 we are putting together a full seamless kit that is ready to go for you, instead of having to piece together a kit from either a junkyard or different parts from different people.

    This is awesome that you have come out with a complete kit, totally worth the price vs. using rusty junkyard parts and headaches of figuring out the steering setup.

    I m a little worried that you didn't weld the spacers to the knuckles...if you look the hub only seats in the knuckle about a quarter inch and you need that secure, otherwise the bolts are the only thing holding on hub, brakes and larger tires. and a tip for the tapered slugs is put a tack weld to hold for disassembly later or they may come out with tie rod end

      Seems like most people only do 1" welds on the spacer, i dont imagine thats all THAT strong. What about just using grade8 bolts?

  • @Kevin---kx3jy
    @Kevin---kx3jy ปีที่แล้ว +2

    That hub spacer is carrying the load of the hub/unit bearing. It should be welded to the knuckle.

    Bumpsteer; its gotta be pretty bad considering how short your track bar is. Being parallel is a big part but length is important too. Is there an option to mount the track bar in front of the coil to get the length closer to the same as the draglink?

    Since the XJ front is basically a TJ front, this should work just as well on that platform. I use a XJ front in my TJs due to using adjustable (1 TJ) Core4x4 control arms (way to align caster, XJ is off frame, TJ is off axle bracket), and high pinion layout.
    Another thought, since the WJ knuckle is a high steer drag link, was there ever a RHD WJ? Cause, similarly, the JK knuckles are mirror to the WJ and JKs had RHD so that, you could relatively due a high steer setup (over the knuckle) on the drag link and then tie that to a high steer (another over the knuckle) tie rod, but using a bracket to make it even higher between the 2 steering points on the knuckle.
    Since you added a 'decorative' plate on the front corner, too bad didn't add a skid plate to the lower CA axle brackets and the upper passenger. Lowers tend to rip off or tear off. Upper CA bracket tends to fold or tear off the tube.

    going to buy this kit. My only question is about the new track bar? why is it mounted with the bend facing up? Aren't you worried it will hit the oil pan at full compression, and can you mount it pointing down?

    • @core4x4fab
      @core4x4fab  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question! The slight bend is for the diff cover clearance. At full compression at this height there is ample room above the track bar.

    I don't even see this steering listed under the jeep xj.
    Also regarding your tier 4 long arm kit, there are no details. What is the thickness of plate used for the cross member? I assume the center section is removable to allow servicing trans etc without taking off the arms. Can the cross member work with frame stiffeners that are already installed? Does the tier 4 kit come with Johnny joints to replace the pressed in bushings on the axle side? Are the arms designed for high clearance? What is the minimum lift height for your long arm kit to ensure no contact upon up travel? How is the clearance of your cross member? How low does it hang below the bottom of the frame rails? Do you guys offer a skid plate that will integrate with the cross member or plan too? I'm in the market for a 4 link lift and I can't find much if any info on your guys kit.

    • @core4x4fab
      @core4x4fab  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jon, thanks for the questions!
      The plate is all 1/4 inch on the brackets and the crossmember. The crossmember itself is two separate 1/4 inch plates welded together, so in most places there is 1/2 inch of steel between you and the ground.
      The kit can work with frame stiffeners, we slotted the frame brackets to allow for that. You will need to clearance a little more on the inside of your frame rail though.
      This kit does really well on LCG builds and we have had customers run it on as little as 2 inches of lift. There may be more trimming around your factory upper mounts for clearance on the arms, but generally the range of motion is there.
      Currently there is not a skid plate for the transfer case, but we are looking to add one to this kit. The crossmember itself has really good clearance and was designed as a "high clearance" kit.
