When I first listened to this song I was also caught off guard by Latto's verse in this song, but if you listen to the explicit version, you'll definetly get it. There are only two lyrical differences between the two versions (in jk's parts, not Latto's), but it completely changed my impressions of the song(s). Truly a genius move. Jungkook is a another member of BTS, making his solo debut. There will be an album too.. we still dk exactly when. Its interesting seeing your reactions to BTS when u dont realise that its BTS. I feel you about the influence. I was stuck at that "Open up & say ahh!" I prefer Suga & RM on his tracks. I like their more conservative approach cuz it was already sexy & romantic but this was a bit much. I'm not saying she's not talented but I just like them separate more. The song is great though!

Man I get your point, as a romantic woman raised in European culture I really do, but what you are saying is also inappropriate. Women and men come from completely different places, historically and culturally - mind you, it’s recent. She is not rapping about using a man as a sexual object, but pleasuring him and having together a healthy body-to-body relationship, it doesn’t have to be romantic to be good/positive. Men don’t get to define how women express themselves. Everything else aside, as for this using men part, we especially as European culture are FAR from the equality to speak about those discrepancies in this way. We want fairness and equality, but projecting male toxicity on women who as a gender are completely different and culturally conditioned to men since they are little is not fair at all.
I don't get the problem people have with this being so western. It was a western artist that made it and offered it to JK. It's a summer hit, fun and silly. The humor I really liked, made me laugh out loud. The MV was just gorgeous and so well done honestly. It helps shove into delusional fans that the youngest member of BTS is in fact a grown man and not someone for them to baby, which is honestly highly needed. JK has been wanting to be better at English for years now, his pronunciation when it comes to songs is always great and he has worked hard for that. And Jungkooks own songs previously have been mostly in Korean with some English here and there. It's also good for exposure to start your solo career with a bop for anyone to listen to with a light and easygoing ear. JK has always also been quite free-spirited, and his style does fit quite neatly with the Western style. Jungkook has yet to even release his own album or even a (high-quality)mixtape, he is exploring his style as well. If every song in his further album was English and head empty pop songs, then I could understand some people's complaints/worries better. But he only has a few solo songs, and 2 of them were given to him by Western artists/a collab. Let him have some fun.
I look at it this way even if there are people who don't like the song for being too western, if this gets played on the radio and becomes a huge hit it's going to hopefully expand JK's audience to more than just ARMY or other kpop fans and in turn more people will check out BTS too. I know so many ARMY who say they got into BTS after hearing Dynamite or Butter (both fully English songs that most ARMY will say are not their best songs). So many people have this preconceived notion about kpop or BTS in general, what their music sounds like or that their music is teeny bopper music for young girls only. But I've seen a lot of people over the past year be more open to check out BTS solo music because they aren't scared away by it being BTS music or a kpop boyband song if that makes sense and from there check out more of BTS music too.

This is BTS's youngest member, the Golden Maknae. Man is part of the dance line, leads the vocal line, and can rap. I'm jumping on the listen to the explicit train. I can see the romantic pov on the "clean" version. Edit: Yes, women don't want to only be viewed as sex objects. No one does (unless that's their kink, I'm not judging) but there's also a time were humans can own their sexuality. I kind of feel like the Korean music industry does have these moments where they try to express it. JK, being in BTS, is kind of getting to do what he wants right now because it's not the band but he still has their fan base. Like Suga experimented with singing more and different styles of music in D-Day. Jimin was showing more skin, and cursing in his lyrics, literally singing about being free to be himself. J-Hope flat out said his whole Jack in the Box album was released during this time because he wanted to show people a side of him that wasn't sunny, happy all the time Hobi. And NamJoon gave us Indigo which he called the archive of his 20's and that was him saying goodbye to that time. I'm not sure how much of this song was JK just "doing the western thing" by being sexual vs doing what his brothers did and put out something he wants to show. He's the baby of the group. But he's now 25, and a grown man.
Absolutely. There's nothing wrong with women wanting to openly express their sexual activeness in songs and performances, and doesn't suddenly take away their right to be viewed as humans. Plus she's doing it of her own agency rather than a man sexually degrading her unwantedly, so there is a difference.
Junkook performed this the other day on the first day of Suga's (Agust D's) DDay Final encore concerts in Soeul. He also performed Burn it with Suga. Jimin performed the long awaited Tony Montana with Suga and then Like Crazy with dancers. On the last day yesterday RM performed Strange with Suga and a brand new unnamed song. Suga's tour is over now. It was phenomenal!

The "western influence" is that it was written by western songwriters. JK's aim was to create an English only album directed to western listeners because it's something he hadn't done before. He thought it would be really challenging, especially because he does not speak English. He knows some but struggles with it. He wants to be a pop star on top of being a k-pop star and this was part of his goal.
I still do not understand how people are taking this “clean” version to be romantic and super cute meanwhile man is legit singing about afterglow and wanting to be with his woman 24/7….. the MV does not connect to the meaning of the song in the way folks are interpreting it. It's funny you mentioned Craig because in his song it says they were making love by Wednesday, and on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and chilled on Sunday. The explicit ver of Seven you will see Latto's part matches more. They prob should cleaned up her part for the clean version of the song.

Jung Kook is called the golden maknae, because he is the most layered voice in BTS. RM said that it wouldn’t be okay if one of the members were sick, but since JK knows all of the vocals in the BTS catalog and therefore can replace the missing member in the songs. This was the youngest member and main vocalist of BTS, doing his first "official" solo song. I agree with you on the Latto bit. Actually, Jung Kook performed this live on Good Morning America in the rain to kick off their summer concert series, and he did the rap of some of Latto's part and I liked that much better. It's so weird, because once BTS was criticized early in their career for having lyrics that insulted women and consulted with women's studies professors after that. Then you get to here in the US where this was written and produced and Boom, it doesn't seem to matter to have everything hanging out and talking only about s*x, yet this country is supposedly big into equality, etc. I don't get it. Anyway, I absolutely love the talented Jung Kook, and the actress Han So Hee was amazing too. They looked so good together.

Congratulations on being “more experienced”, but the issue isn’t with a “lack of understanding”, the issue is with this being a CLEAN version. Jungkook is clearly using innuendo to suggest, meaning it’s up for interpretation. Latto ruined that by being so unbelievably untalented that instead of showcasing any gift whatsoever, she, as many women in the West do, decides instead to rely on sex appeal whilst having most of her body on display. I think it’s pretty pathetic that in 2023 women have the autonomy to choose their own path and yet the women you get to look up to are still choosing these vulgar expressions. @@TeddyGreyOS Hey again dude, I can see where you're coming from with this one but if I was going to push back a little, I would say that I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for women to use sex appeal and have sexually explicit lyrics. In fact it's even seen as something liberating that women are now able to freely express themselves that way if they wish. I can see how you'd find it contradictory with the discourse around women being seen as sex objects, but the difference is that by singing those explicit lyrics she's _willing_ to be viewed sexually in that moment rather than having a man unwantedly degrade her because he thinks she's an inherent sex object as a women, like many male rappers seem to think of women in general. So I think it's actually a healthy thing for women being able to confidently express themselves sexually, but I will agree that it's a heavily overused concept coming from both males and females especially in the west, so it's nice when a song is able to just wind it back with some loving vibes and romance.

Teddy, can you elaborate on your statement at 8:58 "why is a woman talking like that ?"? if you listen to the E version, her verse fits the direction of the steamy song perfectly. Musicians in general (no matter the gender) make sexual, violent, and other genres of songs, so it's nothing new.

On the one hand, Jungkook is a grown ass man who has grown up (literally) in the kpop community with the restrictions on sex/sexuality, swearing, smoking, etc that comes with it, so I understand how one of the first things he wanted to do when he went solo was to, not only, announce to the world that "YES I am a man in kpop who HAS SEX" but also announce to all the delirious fangirls who think they have some kind of claim on him and his choice of partner and that still see him as the 14 year old who first joined BTS and should therefore not talk about sex etc that "I am a GROWN ASS MAN! I'M NOT A KID ANYMORE! I HAVE SEX GET USED TO IT". BUT on the other hand, when I first saw this video I first cringed a bit at the rap+ him stalking the girl who clearly is telling him to f-off, kind of like the "I'm wearing you down until you say yes"-trope. But then when I heard the explicit version it left an even worse taste in my mouth because like you said, I turned away from a lot of western music BECAUSE of the oversexualization that was going on, I've never been a rap-fan until I started listening to kpop because all I heard was the ones rapping about sex, money or drugs, so therefore this whole song, explicit version, just gave me "fuckboy"-vibes 😅. Latto's verse throws you off because this is the clean version, where it's a transition from romance in Jk's verses (that still illudes to intimacy and sex, like you notice) to Latto's more sexually explicit feature in the song. But in the explicit version it fits because of one word in Jk's lyrics change. It goes from "loving you 7 days a week" to "fcking you 7 days a week". That's where the weird transition lies in the clean ver. It totally fits better in the explicit ver.

“This song is a banger” takes on new meaning when you know the explicit is “night after night fucking you right” but it’s still very sweet while cheeky. He stands beside her as she goes through the various trials of life. And the MV has a humor showing us JK doesn’t take it too seriously. Jungkook is the king of tiktoc hes the artist with the most hashtags 200B (3rd most of anyone period behind only Messi and Ronaldo). He doesn’t even use Tiktoc only very rarely posting on the BTS channel.

When I first listened to this song I was also caught off guard by Latto's verse in this song, but if you listen to the explicit version, you'll definetly get it. There are only two lyrical differences between the two versions (in jk's parts, not Latto's), but it completely changed my impressions of the song(s). Truly a genius move. Jungkook is a another member of BTS, making his solo debut. There will be an album too.. we still dk exactly when. Its interesting seeing your reactions to BTS when u dont realise that its BTS. Man I get your point, as a romantic woman raised in European culture I really do, but what you are saying is also inappropriate. Women and men come from completely different places, historically and culturally - mind you, it’s recent. She is not rapping about using a man as a sexual object, but pleasuring him and having together a healthy body-to-body relationship, it doesn’t have to be romantic to be good/positive. Men don’t get to define how women express themselves. Everything else aside, as for this using men part, we especially as European culture are FAR from the equality to speak about those discrepancies in this way. We want fairness and equality, but projecting male toxicity on women who as a gender are completely different and culturally conditioned to men since they are little is not fair at all.
I don't get the problem people have with this being so western. It was a western artist that made it and offered it to JK. It's a summer hit, fun and silly. The humor I really liked, made me laugh out loud. The MV was just gorgeous and so well done honestly. It helps shove into delusional fans that the youngest member of BTS is in fact a grown man and not someone for them to baby, which is honestly highly needed.
JK has been wanting to be better at English for years now, his pronunciation when it comes to songs is always great and he has worked hard for that. And Jungkooks own songs previously have been mostly in Korean with some English here and there.
It's also good for exposure to start your solo career with a bop for anyone to listen to with a light and easygoing ear.
JK has always also been quite free-spirited, and his style does fit quite neatly with the Western style.
Jungkook has yet to even release his own album or even a (high-quality)mixtape, he is exploring his style as well. If every song in his further album was English and head empty pop songs, then I could understand some people's complaints/worries better. But he only has a few solo songs, and 2 of them were given to him by Western artists/a collab. Let him have some fun.
I look at it this way even if there are people who don't like the song for being too western, if this gets played on the radio and becomes a huge hit it's going to hopefully expand JK's audience to more than just ARMY or other kpop fans and in turn more people will check out BTS too. I know so many ARMY who say they got into BTS after hearing Dynamite or Butter (both fully English songs that most ARMY will say are not their best songs). So many people have this preconceived notion about kpop or BTS in general, what their music sounds like or that their music is teeny bopper music for young girls only. But I've seen a lot of people over the past year be more open to check out BTS solo music because they aren't scared away by it being BTS music or a kpop boyband song if that makes sense and from there check out more of BTS music too.
I love this song but if I wanted to continue listening to western style music I would of just kept listening to the music on the radio... I discovered Kpop because I was tired of the music scene here

Edit: Yes, women don't want to only be viewed as sex objects. No one does (unless that's their kink, I'm not judging) but there's also a time were humans can own their sexuality. I kind of feel like the Korean music industry does have these moments where they try to express it. JK, being in BTS, is kind of getting to do what he wants right now because it's not the band but he still has their fan base. Like Suga experimented with singing more and different styles of music in D-Day. Jimin was showing more skin, and cursing in his lyrics, literally singing about being free to be himself. You’re take on western female rappers are always interesting, considering they are the blueprint for many others.
The "western influence" is that it was written by western songwriters. JK's aim was to create an English only album directed to western listeners because it's something he hadn't done before. He thought it would be really challenging, especially because he does not speak English. He knows some but struggles with it. He wants to be a pop star on top of being a k-pop star and this was part of his goal.
I still do not understand how people are taking this “clean” version to be romantic and super cute meanwhile man is legit singing about afterglow and wanting to be with his woman 24/7….. the MV does not connect to the meaning of the song in the way folks are interpreting it. I believe the explicit version was the original and he made the “clean” version to make it slightly more friendly.. it’s so weird. RM said that it wouldn’t be okay if one of the members were sick, but since JK knows all of the vocals in the BTS catalog and therefore can replace the missing member in the songs. Actually, Jung Kook performed this live on Good Morning America in the rain to kick off their summer concert series, and he did the rap of some of Latto's part and I liked that much better. It's so weird, because once BTS was criticized early in their career for having lyrics that insulted women and consulted with women's studies professors after that. Then you get to here in the US where this was written and produced and Boom, it doesn't seem to matter to have everything hanging out and talking only about s*x, yet this country is supposedly big into equality, etc. I don't get it. Anyway, I absolutely love the talented Jung Kook, and the actress Han So Hee was amazing too. They looked so good together.

Congratulations on being “more experienced”, but the issue isn’t with a “lack of understanding”, the issue is with this being a CLEAN version. Jungkook is clearly using innuendo to suggest, meaning it’s up for interpretation. Latto ruined that by being so unbelievably untalented that instead of showcasing any gift whatsoever, she, as many women in the West do, decides instead to rely on sex appeal whilst having most of her body on display. I think it’s pretty pathetic that in 2023 women have the autonomy to choose their own path and yet the women you get to look up to are still choosing these vulgar expressions. @@TeddyGreyOS Hey again dude, I can see where you're coming from with this one but if I was going to push back a little, I would say that I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing for women to use sex appeal and have sexually explicit lyrics. In fact it's even seen as something liberating that women are now able to freely express themselves that way if they wish. I can see how you'd find it contradictory with the discourse around women being seen as sex objects, but the difference is that by singing those explicit lyrics she's _willing_ to be viewed sexually in that moment rather than having a man unwantedly degrade her because he thinks she's an inherent sex object as a women, like many male rappers seem to think of women in general. So I think it's actually a healthy thing for women being able to confidently express themselves sexually, but I will agree that it's a heavily overused concept coming from both males and females especially in the west, so it's nice when a song is able to just wind it back with some loving vibes and romance.

On the one hand, Jungkook is a grown ass man who has grown up (literally) in the kpop community with the restrictions on sex/sexuality, swearing, smoking, etc that comes with it, so I understand how one of the first things he wanted to do when he went solo was to, not only, announce to the world that "YES I am a man in kpop who HAS SEX" but also announce to all the delirious fangirls who think they have some kind of claim on him and his choice of partner and that still see him as the 14 year old who first joined BTS and should therefore not talk about sex etc that "I am a GROWN ASS MAN! I'M NOT A KID ANYMORE! I HAVE SEX GET USED TO IT".
BUT on the other hand, when I first saw this video I first cringed a bit at the rap+ him stalking the girl who clearly is telling him to f-off, kind of like the "I'm wearing you down until you say yes"-trope. But then when I heard the explicit version it left an even worse taste in my mouth because like you said, I turned away from a lot of western music BECAUSE of the oversexualization that was going on, I've never been a rap-fan until I started listening to kpop because all I heard was the ones rapping about sex, money or drugs, so therefore this whole song, explicit version, just gave me "fuckboy"-vibes 😅.
What I appreciate about the majority of all the BTS-members solo-debut stuff is that they in some way or another made a statement about "I am not what you fans perceive me as, there is more to me than being an idol", especially Jimin's whole album "Face" and Agust Ds stuff that (like he always does) talked about mental health, processing trauma or breaking free from what is forbidden(Jimin's Set Me Free too), so basically what I assume Jungkook wanted to put on the table but he did it in a way more up front and in your face kind of way. It's always fun to see people get into everything that is BTS and suddenly realizing that there's more to them than songs like Dynamite, Butter and Permission To Dance, 3 songs that really blew up in the west but are my least favourite of theirs, I try to think of it as, those 3 songs in particular came out during the pandemic and BTS made all of them for Army to cheer us up and get us through those tough times with someting "fun" and "light". BTS for me is, speaking up about class inequality in South Korea with songs like "Baepsae/Silver Spoon", or unjust school system with "N.O", anti-establishment with "No More Dream"(and that was their DEBUT SONG, how many kpop-groups do you hear about who releases a song like that as their first song?) or consumerism/materialism with "Spine Breaker" "GoGo" and "Pied Piper" (all songs that I highly recommend btw)

Latto's verse throws you off because this is the clean version, where it's a transition from romance in Jk's verses (that still illudes to intimacy and sex, like you notice) to Latto's more sexually explicit feature in the song. But in the explicit version it fits because of one word in Jk's lyrics change. It goes from "loving you 7 days a week" to "fcking you 7 days a week". That's where the weird transition lies in the clean ver. It totally fits better in the explicit ver.

I don't think he knows about BTS members. Teddy only react to jimin set me free part 2, RM, agust d, jhope with j Cloe. So he doesn't like bts songs because people said that bts music is like pop. And he's also react to RM jokes got a lots of heat from army! If you listen to him in the beginning he said that already subscribe on bighit or hype so hopefully he will react to BTS more often. Army was recommended bts music for years!! But he still not seems to interest on bts. So Forget about the past my personally love teddy reaction!!
