The micro transactions definitely sour the experience, but the story and game-play are pretty solid, so I wouldn't worry about it.
Exactly. The first one's strongest point is the atmosphere, one of the best i've ever experienced in any game ever, especially horror. The second one's strongest point is the gameplay which is massively improved from the first one. The third one's strongest point...maybe the "create your own weapon"/being able to co-op the campaign with a buddy. Overall a great series which made me stop being a complete pussy and got me into the horror genre :D
I feel that the complaints about DS3 microtransactions are kind of overblown, as long as your weren't an impulsive 'whale'. It was almost nothing but materials & Ration Seals. Which the game practically throws at you since you can find materials while the scavenger bot gathers even more materials, and the bot can also find those Ration Seals. And you can eventually carry like a total of 5 scavenger bots, who will scavenge for a few minutes before returning to a bench, where you pick them back up so you can then place them down again to find more stuff.
Dead Space did one thing that made the game so much more immersive...removal of the hud. putting everything in game, on your suit, or in holograms like the in game map, just put you into the game so much more than having health bars, ammo counters, energy numbers floating around the screen really puts you in the game.

Favorite thing about Dead Space? My answer only really applies to DS1/2, and that's the feeling of tension, they nailed it in DS1 and recaptured a good chunk of it in DS2, DS3 was marketed and built for the action market rather than the survival horror market so it just didn't have that spark. Also, I got to play the early builds of DS2's multiplayer, couldn't play more than a few matches without starting to shake, it was terrifying as the engineers and a power rush as the Necromorphs. Later builds lost that though as they tuned it to make things more 'even' between the two sides.
If Halo DID have a horror game, I sincerely believe that it would succeed. Maybe introducing more frightening Flood forms as "bosses" would be pretty genius.
when I first played dead space 1 it terrified me more than me encountering the flood for the first time in halo ce. I almost quite the game after seeing my team get delimbed by necros on the first mission, lol

Buy the Dead Space Book which explains the lore before the first game, which is very interesting. Edit: Also just some facts. Every Dead Space main game won Audio Design of the year which really means something in a horror game.
Dead Space 1 is my personal favorite of the two, I prefer Isaac as a silent protagonist, it lends itself better to an atmospheric horror game I feel. And that atmosphere is amazing, feeling alone on the Ishimura is incredibly well done. Love it so much
I have never seen the Graphic Novel Short, that was really cool. I also liked Dead Space 3, I don't recall microtransactions ever being an issue for me, I just played like normal and got everything I needed.

The Huge ass creature in the Dead Space trailer is called "The Hive Mind" who generally was like "The One Above All" to the creatures on the Ishumura (The setting of the first game) and generally controlled them, and you have to kill it. And if you think that's huge, look up Dead Space 3 boss, you fight a f*cking moon necromorph (The monsters / zombies). It's legit the size of a damn moon.

Dead space 2 is still one of my top 10 best games I’ve ever played!!!! I hope you get the chance to play these games on stream! The movies give really good lore as well, Aftermath takes place before 2 and explains a lot about the marker and nolan stross (key character in deadspace 2)
The main reason why Dead Space is so terrifying is because it takes the things we dont know about space and creates this FEAR of the unknown using the NECROMORPHS
Resident Evil vibes you say? Well the developers of Dead Space have stated before that without Resident Evil 4 there would be no Dead Space. They got a lot of inspiration from Resident Evil 4 and it helped them create a clearer vision.
I thought it was cool how if you played as Carter you would be so confused by the episodes of Isaac shooting at nothing and doing crazy shit like "dude what are you talking about, there's no marker shit everywhere"
The Dead Space genre scared the sh*t out of me the first I played it, never wanted to touch it again after I got to a terrifying part, but I grew a pair and went through it. Would definitely not recommend it to the faint-hearted as it really gets your heart racing, it's also very gory (As you can tell), people getting ripped apart, people getting beheaded, people getting de-limbed, people gutting eachother, it's just in all a very disturbing game, but it's a good one. Would recommend it to people looking for a scare.
8:47 - 8:51 Dee Bee Geek: This is either a mutation or an alien species. Lore: ITS BOTH! Introducing the Necromorph outbreak, with a little singal released from the Marker, you become super insane from insomnia, insanity, and other symptoms that lead you to die and what happens to your corpse you say? It gets re-purposed to turn into one of many mutated undead necromorphs thanks to the singals that caused you to mutate! Or you could be injected with some strange marker juice to further speed up your resurrection thanks to some necromorph known as the Infector who jabs a prodding needle made of its own dead spine and injects the yellow fluid directly into your brain. ..... This skit was done thanks and partly done by my stupid brain.
I want to tell you this, but not sure if you are going to read this or anyone else commented this, but Gabe Weller is a character from Dead Space Extraction and back in the Ishimura he was a security officer.
When that fucking Twinkle Twinkle Little Star trailer played on TV, I covered my ears and ran away lmao. Next thing I knew, it became my favorite franchise after Halo and Titanfall.
Great Video Dee Bee Geek, The Dead Space franchise is one of my favourite things from gaming & lore wise. It is a shame they killed off Visceral Games though so there will never be a Dead Space 4. The mechanics and gameplay in Dead Space 1 were solid as it was but it got even better as the games progressed, some people didn't like the third installment but I think it was amazing. I really hope you do a playthrough of the games. Keep on rocking.
The original Dead Space Launch trailer is still one of the best trailers ever made. Sigur Rós is also one of my favorite bands ever and Untitled 7 is one of their best tracks.
Dead Space 1&2 was when the game was in its prime! Very creepy, death, horror and heart pounding scenarios around every turn. They were definitely on top of the horror gaming genre when they were introduced. But as you can tell in the video, as the trailers progressed it went from a morbid horror element to rock music and action scenes when the 3rd game came out! And that’s part of its downfall. It took you out of the horror element and turned it more into a action co-op game! And that’s not what fans were looking for ! But this franchise is still my favorite 360 series! The second being my favorite! Just the trippy, morbid, hallucination element really added a different twist to the horror element!....And I do believe there’s a trailer missing for the second Dead Space! It had elderly people reacting to the second game watching in horror, it was kinda funny!
I loved this franchise, I hope they make a fourth game with the same atmosphere as the first game and if you play Dead Space, I would recommend playing the trilogy first, and if you have a Wii, play Dead Space: Extraction (the prequel to Dead Space), then play Dead Space 2: Severed (another prequel and at the same time an aftermath to the first chapter and is a DLC in Dead Space 2), and Awakened (another DLC in Dead Space 3, which takes place after the events of Dead Space 3), each game has the lore and story that will answer your questions and each monster is unique, and si are the suits and weapons that you wear, i won't go into too much detail because I fear it might spoilers. I hope this was helpful

Dee Bee Geek: This is either a mutation or an alien species.
Ok now you have to play dead space
Edit: the cinematic horror of dead space is amazing, not to mention the gore and feeling of helplessness
I want to tell you this, but not sure if you are going to read this or anyone else commented this, but Gabe Weller is a character from Dead Space Extraction and back in the Ishimura he was a security officer.
Gabe Weller from the Severed DLC is one of the protagonists from Dead Space Extraction. Extraction plays before DS1and after DS1
One of the best Horror series of all time. It's not as frightening towards the end but things tend to be when you've gone through hell twice.
you can craft those weapons so chill
Thank you for this unique list!
"We're not punished for our sins, but by them"
Dead Space 2 Multiplayer is actually a 4v4, 4 players play as survivors and 4 players play as Necromorphs.
Dead Space Remake is out :D
If you watch the Dead Space movie, it will basically fill you in on everything. Since that's what's it's based on but just expanded.
The enemies in this game are essentially reanimated corpses and the bigger enemies are amalgamations of corpses
When that fucking Twinkle Twinkle Little Star trailer played on TV, I covered my ears and ran away lmao. Next thing I knew, it became my favorite franchise after Halo and Titanfall.
Can you do a halo wars 2 cutscenes reaction, but ofc whenever you're available
Great Video Dee Bee Geek, The Dead Space franchise is one of my favourite things from gaming & lore wise. It is a shame they killed off Visceral Games though so there will never be a Dead Space 4.
The mechanics and gameplay in Dead Space 1 were solid as it was but it got even better as the games progressed, some people didn't like the third installment but I think it was amazing.
I really hope you do a playthrough of the games. Keep on rocking.
Dead space 2 came out on my birthday. Gotta say I didn't sleep that week due to a mixture of fear and playing the game.
3:30 this is like one of my favorite trailers
Man I loved these games. I wish they would come back.
RIP to Visceral Games
Fuck EA
Dead Space 1 and 2 are one of my favorite horror games besides Resident Evil 4.
Play them. Play them. This is true horror and gore. Love to see you do so
You missed another trailer it's called 200 Years Ago, On an Icy Planet. Feel free to do a react to it.
Dee bee geek: let me know if you want a lets play
Us: Dew it.
Charlie Pilto (Grand Nephew of "The High Priest" Harold Pilto)
OH my god, this shit is my childhood... You MUST play them, they are creepy and scary, but REALLY GOOD.
Man i love dead space. I was too scared to olay it when i first got it. Waited until i was 16 to finally play it
I loved this franchise, I hope they make a fourth game with the same atmosphere as the first game and if you play Dead Space, I would recommend playing the trilogy first, and if you have a Wii, play Dead Space: Extraction (the prequel to Dead Space), then play Dead Space 2: Severed (another prequel and at the same time an aftermath to the first chapter and is a DLC in Dead Space 2), and Awakened (another DLC in Dead Space 3, which takes place after the events of Dead Space 3), each game has the lore and story that will answer your questions and each monster is unique, and si are the suits and weapons that you wear, i won't go into too much detail because I fear it might spoilers. I hope this was helpful
