  • The secret sauce and behind the scenes of the Eternity's success that is oft overlooked.
Our damage control parties, and SOPs do more than any other single element to insure Eternity's staying power on the battlefield.
The Eternity, while scary has earned a rep of "the ship that will not die". This is why

Check out the battle that the thumbnail was based on (time stamped at battle start)

Ironically, In Halo, Cortana chose the Pillar of Autumn as her ship of choice because the Halcyon Light Cruisers that the Eternity is based on had extremely good survivability. Better Ton for Ton battle survivability than the heavier cruisers of the time. It was mostly due to the Honeycombed bulkhead, but it's till cool that both ships are known for their survivability.

As another famous E with a big hangar can attest, good damage control can make all the difference

Eternity has enough firepower to be a threat to everything anyone can throw at it. But as it was shown when Eternity fought vs Tiniest Snek. Eternity can repair damaged sections much faster thanks to it's generous size then tightly pack ship. Eternity consists of 2 parts a rectangle wrapped around in armor and guns.

Seeing the noclip view of the ship's hull is amazing, the way the ship is honeycombed in the armour, the way the ship has multi-layered hulls, absolutely amazing design work. Not hard to imagine the Autumn would look like that in the universe this ship is definitely not based on.

Hilarious that he said that if he covered the ship in auto-welders then the Eternity’s biggest weapon would be lag. That is great!

If I recall, Outlands rules mean that only the Eternity can make mid combat repairs, a big advantage for the ship

I recall a discussion I had with a Naval man once. About the ideas of Damage control and space.

You not only managed to recreate the look of the Pillar of Autumn but also it's characteristics. In lore it's said that thoes cruisers could have up to 70% of its compartments breached and still remain functional. Eternity survived simmilar damage many times.

i started building a ship, based on a space marine strike cruiser, designed with damage control as a primary concern.

I love theory crafter on how space battles might unfold and exactly how repair needs to be prioritized and with what principles to be used.

I just found your "dreadnaught against a server" video. I can't believe how much I am enjoing the adventures of the Eternity's Ascent and her stalwart crew. I would love to see that story done as either a movie (or better yet a series) in Machinima. Even with you just matter-of-factly reporting on the events, I got really excited and 'into' what was going on in the RP. I would be honored to contribute my (alleged) talents as a writer & storyteller. Would be cool with voice acting and/or writing in screenplay format, although I lack experience in both.

I think it would be interesting to see the damage control perspective in the fights. The communications and coordination mostly, and how that looks side by side to command and other elements that contribute to the fight.

Maaaaaaan I cannot wait for season 3! When I was young, I remember watching things like world War K and Macey dean's series, this just feels like the enhanced evolution of all that

I wanna see the eternity survive one of Hesterry’s MK2 Reaper missles….if anything will keep you dead in the water, look em up.

I really like your idea of calling your videos D&D Space engineers. I really like the though that it is not entirely scripted like Captain Jack's videos.

I just want to applaud to the beautiful footage. All these years ago when the first of us bought SE in its first iteration, this is what we all hoped to see. The in depth stuff you're talking about and the absolute beauty of battlefield mayhem is breathtaking.
