So easy to follow and understand I've made wrap skirts in the past and the waist never seemed right doing the elastic waist is so so much better and neater and the material and print are beautiful

My hip measurement is 35 3/4. What if I'm not putting a elastic in the back. what the measurment for the hip measurement.

We can only advise on the pattern as it was designed. So if you did not want to use the elastic as in the pattern, we cannot give measurements, I'm afraid. We hope you manage to find a pattern that has the features you are after.

Tanya, we have guidance on the measurements you need based on your own measurement in our web article at www.gathered.how/sewing-and-quilting/sewing/how-to-sew-a-wrap-skirt-tutorial/

I'm making a wrap skirt. There hip measurement is 35 3/4 in inches. How big should the skirt be and how long should the string should be to tie the skirt. I want all the measurement in inches.

To find the the width for each of the two front pieces of the skirt, divide our waist measurement in 2 - so for your given waist measurement of 35.3/4, this would be 17 3/4 inches. For the back piece, take half of your waist measurement and add 15cm (6in) as the back will be gathered with elastic - so for your given waist measurement of 35.3/4, this would be 41 3/4. For the ties cut 3x30in. All measurements in inches as requested. For written info on this projects, visit www.gathered.how/sewing-and-quilting/sewing/how-to-sew-a-wrap-skirt-tutorial/

Don't we need to use hip measurement since its wider? I cut it out according to my waist and even with a curve, it won't fit over the hips.

Hi Reel Desserts. The wrap around shape will give it room to fit around the hips - this will be its widest point. The waist is brought from this using the elastic at the waistband

Makes NO SENSE to cut the front in half TOO MUCH CUTTING

The front has to be cut in half to make it a wrap around skirt. Otherwise, it cannot wrap around! It sounds like this is not the pattern for you if you are after a solid front skirt. Thanks for looking anyway and we hope you found the style you were after
