  • I'm back with another review of a 1.6 hatchback, but, my dear viewer, before you click away in boredom, this one is petrol! And its a fun one too! Come witness me review a car ignored by the high performance loving Golf R lovers of the day, and understand just what it is they're missing.
    If you have a car you'd willingly let me review, please hit me up on instagram at @AlexTwinspark and we can organise it! I promise to not intentionally crash your pride and joy!
    All filming, editing and beard owning credits go to the wonderful Joe Hill, Blue Multimedia

    This car isn't about hard pulls and racing Fiestas on dual carriage ways, it's a driver's car made specifically for back road high rev driving. It's perfectly poised and it's beautifully engineered. If you're just looking for point and shoot, put your foot down 'driving' then it's not for you. Its all about throwing yourself round corners and staying glued to the road. The steering is a little detached I agree but if you truly know how to drive it rewards your effort.... If you know you know

    I own one and I can tell you it's not warm. I drive away from a MK5 gti if the road becomes twisty and in straight pulls the well known hot hatches are only slightly faster, but we talking meters, not seconds. Overall, there's nothing warm about this car. Drive one and you'll surely adore it and putt it up there with the rest. Or maybe higher.. A friend of me put it in words the best: "I don't think I ever drove that stretch faster than that".

    I own one of these for 3+ years and the steering in mine is precise and never "wayward" as you described it. Getting a good wheel alignment done with extra negative camber does wonders too.

    • @alextwinspark8289
      @alextwinspark8289  ปีที่แล้ว

      The car was aligned a few days before this road test, however the owner did change the tyres not long after and said the steering felt a loooot better afterwards so it's likely that's what the issue was to the cars credit

    I own the exact same one but for its price it is pretty quick. Almost every saloon car get destroyed like a lancer or a sp25 Mazda 3. I've won races against my mates v6 230hp mitshubshi magma where I pulled away by a lot after 120kms. v6 grand Cherokee 320hp I also beat in a race too. I think it depends on how well taken care the car is and how light. Mine has a super light pipe exhaust no mufflers all straight piped and rear seats removed which makes it a lot lighter.

    I used to daily one of these. great fun lil cars, amazingly good looking from the rear, pretty cool as a 3 door from the side but I never really liked the front of it, and I owned mine for over 3 years.
    they are absolutely great fun to drive tho, chucking mine around corners on dirt and gravel, getting the tail out and just in general, hooning around and having just too much fun for the money.
    mine had a performance chip on it which advertised 146hp and a stainless steel tuned exhaust (friend of mine designed it and did the simulations and I welded it up). the raspy sound from stainless just makes the car sound so aggressive whilst a nice, high quality muffler at the back takes the sound down to a very comfortable level.
    only real gripe I had with mine tho is how tall it looks compared to length and width. and the fact that even tho mine had more power than stock, still had absolutely no power so I recently sold my swift and bought a 2007 Volvo C30 T5 instead. more power and according to me, best looking hatchback of all times cause it really doesn't look like a hatchback, it looks like a shrunken down wagon with all the right proportions and I absolutely love that.
    was still a bit sad seeing my swift leave tho, many great memories in that car

      What sort of mpg do you get back

    • @isaks3243
      @isaks3243 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yusufknowsit7674 I calculated (since the trip computer isn't accurate) an average fuel economy number of of 5.95l/100km over a year of driving, the trip computer says 5.5l/100km. it shows roughly 10% too low when driving carefully and roughly 10% high when thrashing it around
      so that is 40 MPG US or 47.5 mpg imperial (used in the uk). this is for the 2012 Swift Sport 1.6VVT. I am shure that if you live where you don't get very cold winter months as I do here in sweden will the economy be better if all other parameters are the same cause this kinda old school NA inline 4 doesn't warm up that quick which means that the fuel economy suffers a bit during the winters. I have also managed 4.1l/100km on a full tank during hypermiling (57 mpg us or 69 mpg imperial)
      I'm not done with the testing of the Volvo C30 T5 yet. currently showing 6.9 l/100km (34 mpg us or 41 mpg imperial) managed 6.5 l/100km on the 5 hour drive home when I bought the car which was mostly done on 90km/h (56 mph) roads but I spent almost an hour on a 110km/h (68 mph) road.
      hope this answered your question, feel free to ask more cause I most likely have something written down about that from the time I had my suzuki

    Oh forgot to mention, i dont know why you guys always say its a great 1st or 2nd car.. what is that all about?
    So if it was a 3rd or 10th car it wouldnt be good? Doesnt make sense. Ive had about 15 cars since i got my license about 17ys ago and the swift sport is one of my favorites

      It's less that they aren't good as third or fourth of fifth cars etc, it's that there's a lot more options open to you when you're at that stage. When you're just starting out in your driving career you can't really get insurance or etc on a lot of other cars. The other reason I think it's so great for first or second cars is that it's not too difficult to drive. It is a bit spikey and can spin out or be just that little bit of a handful, but it's still more than easy enough to catch back, so you can learn car control quite easily in it

    They definitely ain’t slow, compared to some cars I’ve owned type R integra FX-GT, Fairlady etc then yes they are slow but put 98 octane gas in these and watch them go, wow they are fun

      I'd like to but these shoot days are long as they are and with a lot of these cars it feel unnecessary to cover the areas they aren't really designed for. If I can play with larger budgets in the future I'd love to bring them in, it just depends how successful these do and how much funding I can get for it basically
