Definately. We all have to start somewhere. I spent a couple of hours each weekend practising u turns and swerves on the industrial estates and within 3 months I had passed my test on a 500cc. The cbrs hold their value well too, I actually sold mine for more than I paid for it. Its an exciting journey. Enjoy xx
I considered the Drift HD when researching helmet cameras, but in the end saw no use for the side LCD and didn't like the size and weight of the unit (though it was a bit much to have hanging off the side of your head). I do like the mic extention thought. It's something my Contour Roam does not have and renders any commentary useless. For an HD the video seemed a little fuzzy, but that may have been TH-cam conversion I guess?
Nice video. I use the Drift HD also. I have only had a couple problems with it. One was a firmware update that when done left my external microphone not working. Drift sent me a firmware patch that corrected that. I will say that you should keep a copy of the previous update until you are sure the new update has no bugs. I have changed the lense cover which is a nice option as they will need replacing sooner or later. Other than that its been great. Also have PD10 but need to learn it better.
Lost footy; may have been the heat like you said. Then after forgiving the 170 for not recording when it said it was, I bought a very expensive sd card class 10, same as in my gopro, to try for better video quality. After Pikes Peak and its epic scenery and comparing the GPH2 to the Drift 170 for myself, I just had to just let it go. Its great for vlogging, love the remote, the shape, fit on the helmet, lcd, audio and all, but it can't compete with the video quality :(
We dont have the gopro3 and so cant really compare. If the 1 or 2 are anything to go by, the quality will be good, what put us off was the need to purchase a microphone adapter. See Russ's (Roadcraftnottingham) review on the Drift Ghost, he is very pleased with that.
Yip that little cam seems to be fine Linz and its good to see the two camera angles! Im with you on the driving and using phones its deadly at times and thats been proven.I watched that with the cyclist and she was sad in what she did. Crazy it was
good vidio im thinking of getting a helmet cam but didnt know what to get the one we have over here in australia is the go-pro but dont know what its like, but cerry on the good work
Nice review, im thinking of investing in a helmet cam due to safety etc..the drift ghost is at the top of my list because of Russ's vids..always clear and crisp ....what type of cam is on the handle bars? BTW very nice and confident riding! How long have you been riding?
very nice to see a lady putting her views across. I don't see any reason to use a mobile handheld phone in any situation while driving. if radio amateurs (of which I am one) can use hands-free kit while driving there is no reason why mobile phone hands free kits cannot be bought and used. the kits are inexpensive and very easy to install.
In reality none of us concentrate all of the time. The problem with mobile phones is that they require us to hold a conversation. The phsicla holding of the phone and to keep the caller engaged as they can't see what is happening in the car. If talking to a passenger or vlogging with eyes on the road, we often break the conversation when extra attention is needed on the road. Not the same on the phone.
I know the video is from way back but all the same I'm just wanting to get started on motovlogging and don't want to spend too much on a cam (have a bargain in sight ). thx for this review
Make sure u set the screen to turn off after 20 seconds, helps the battery life ;) my stealth x170 has been ok.... had found the remote abit hit and miss, repair with the unit to be safe, even if it works out the box ;)
I'm torn between the drift and the gopro, I'm hearing the drift is the easiest of the two to get up and running, also what's the device on the other side,?
oh really the adapter is like 40 dollars, and i think it uses micro sd cards whicj is also a bit of pain. ill be going and check out the review cheers for the reply
You want to make sure you have the auto-screen off setting enabled or you kill the battery life on the Drift, apart from that it looks like you've got it set up brilliantly, liking the two angles you have going too! And I personally can't stand people who use their phone and drive either, the number you get just drifting out of lanes and junctions is ridiculous.
I like both. If I could only have one it would be the go pro but I like having two camera angles so two it is! See my reply below re distraction oh Mr Devil
** Traffic Cops - Crazy Mobile Phone Driver Rams Police Officer ** If that link doesn't work paste the above into your search bar folks, it's worth a watch ;-)
Thanks :) Took me a while to get my own cam, I am sure that you will get there in time. I am a bit of a fiend when it comes to motorbike gear - love girly stuff. Check out Icon for original and feminine bike clothing for the girlies.
Looking away to talk to children in the back, change sat navs, change the radio completely diverts attention from the road for the period that action is done and so is very risky. The police will prosecute when a lack of attention manifests itself in a physical way -swerving, accidents or by admission, otherwise how would they know that there has been a lack of attention.
Ref: 5:37 "Impedes your concentration". Couldn't agree more and fully agree on (mis)use of mobile phones whilst driving. However, without wanting to "drop a bag of rats", I wonder how much it impedes your concentration to record a commentary while riding a bike? Am not trying to start a war here, but bike riders have to operate with far more awareness in order to stay alive than car drivers. I guess only someone like Russ can answer this as he has been doing it for some time.
Hi there. I have a drift on my helmet and a go pro 2 on the handlebars. Each camera has its respective merits. It'spersonal choice really. If you aare looking for a new drift be sure to use road craft Nottingham 's discount code. I passed in 2010. I don't do alot of miles, I am a fair weather rider really. I don't like to ride without a camera for safety
Both driving without due care and driving without reasonable consideration require the driver to be driving below the objective standard set for reasonable road users. I.e. observed poor driving or another motorist inconvenienced. Drving without proper control requires evidence of a loss of control. Using a mobile phone whilst driving is an offence in its own right. Vlogging in itself is highly unlikely to be an offence without something more.
Great vlog Linz. Clear footage and good audio. Looking forward to more now!LOVE THAT JACKET :-)
From a fellow Motovlogger..great to find your channel..subscribed and look forward to your vlogs! Ride safe!

I really want my own Drift, be no stopping me then! I love your leather jacket, it's gorgeous!!! x
More vlogs Liz! You and Russ are naturals at vlogging :D
Russ coming home with a Drift HD and extreme601 "forgetting" his on the pavement? I think we have a winner here folks... :P
Bout time you made another vid, jp ;) Glad you got your Drift, hope you love it. Btw, you're so bubbly and cute, just had to say that.
I look forward to the uploads. My first bike was a cbr 125 too :)
By the way, great to see you doing more videos.

I believe you're looking at her Pinlock. They're a secondary 'screen' that goes on the visor to stop your visor from fogging up.

Yeah, what a stroke of luck, walking by and seeing this drift on the pavement!! ;-)
Yip that little cam seems to be fine Linz and its good to see the two camera angles! Im with you on the driving and using phones its deadly at times and thats been proven.I watched that with the cyclist and she was sad in what she did. Crazy it was

Thanks already onto the drift screen.
Thank you and will do
What is the name of the video where the cyclist got knocked off? I remember watching it but can't remember the name! Good review, thanks!!

im looking at getting the gopro hero3 or do your reckon the drift is bettter? the quality does look good. cheers
No problems at all. I have bought a few extra batteries since as the battery life is about 2 hours
Make sure u set the screen to turn off after 20 seconds, helps the battery life ;) my stealth x170 has been ok.... had found the remote abit hit and miss, repair with the unit to be safe, even if it works out the box ;)
HI, it's been a while since you got this camera, I wondered how you were getting on with it?
Cool jacket!
Its pinlocks I believe. Stops the visor fogging up
@ 2:00 wee info: The new Hero3 takes the micro-sd cards too :)
no thats just the standard visor, there is no inner visor on my helmet. Must be the light!
I'm torn between the drift and the gopro, I'm hearing the drift is the easiest of the two to get up and running,
also what's the device on the other side,?
Out of interest, why didn't you like the 170?
Have you max speed each gear?
oh really the adapter is like 40 dollars, and i think it uses micro sd cards whicj is also a bit of pain. ill be going and check out the review cheers for the reply
I have put the link in at 4:09. Or search cyclist greenford west london in YT
