She is a great Korean gospel singer. There are many K-pop stars in Korea, but there are many other great singers as well besides idol groups like BTS, Black Pink. Among them, there is a world class singer named Sohyang. She is considered one of the best vocalists in the world by many vocal coaches and singers all over the world. I hope you listen to her song once again. She was originally a gospel singer, not a popular singer. She has pure, humble and beautiful mind.
She never sing a song for the fame and the money. She said that She always want to sing a song to heal and comfort wounded many peoples mentally, physically.

Yeeeeessss! I was starting to think you had some sort of aversion to sohyang. I know you've done dimash & morissette & tbh they usually come as a 3.maybe now,if you hear people saying sohyang is the 'queen' where dimash is 'king', you may now understand why. I thought you may have come across her before as although she can literally sing ANY genre,her heart belongs to gospel music & she is a devout christian & as I believe you are a man of faith I just thought you may have heard of her. You should read her back story & the reason that she is not the worldwide superstar that her voice surely deserves is that all the big record companies have tried to sign her but she has always declined as fame/fortune aren't what drives her,instead choosing to stay independent & do what she wants,which is to use the gift that god gave her to bring happiness to those experiencing difficult times. Sohyang is a masterful arranger & is responsible for the arrangment of all the songs she performs.sometimes the arrangment changes the song a fair bit from the original,sometimes only a little,dependent on the song & the circumstances in which she's singing it but she always makes it her own version & only if its for the better,she is far too respectful to rearrange a song & make it worse. Never be put off reacting to one of her performances if its not in english as she (& sometimes dimash) regularly has me in tears without me knowing what she's singing about,thats how good she is at portraying emotion in a song. Try watching her non english performances on vimeo as they usually provide eng subs.
So many songs I could recommend but I think: 'lean on me' (michael bolton was in the audience), 'arirang alone' (a simple korean folk song that has been given the sohyang treatment arrangment wise) & 'you raise me up', and what is regarded as her masterpiece,a song that sohyang herself said was the most difficult to perform as there are limited places to breathe & thats the song 'everyone' (7.5 mins of a vocal masterclass).
All these songs are from the show 'immortal songs 2 & should give you a better idea of her capabilities & are from roughly the same period 2017/8. She is not know for releasing lots of material & has suffered with long periods of bad health but she appears to have been in pretty good health recently & has released quite a lot of her material that she's done during the pandemic,so there is material that is available that is bang up to date.
Finally,welcome to the amazing world of sohyang.I hope you are good at long journeys as now you've stepped on to the sohyang train i'm sure you'll be in no hurry to get off.
She also does her own arrangements, is a vocal coach, a successful fiction author, an has survived cancer. I'm in awe of her. You might consider doing her cover of "O Holy Night" before the 12 days of Christmas are over!

Most of the people who sing on TH-cam have a mismatch between their emotions and sounds.
They pretend to sing a lot of technique only.
But Sohyang is emotion = sound.
I can feel it in her strong chest voice.
Sohyang doesn't make a sound. "Express" the sound.
For example, when speaking, emotions and sounds match, but Sohyang sings as if speaking.
So emotion = sound. Others sound difficult or plain.
You need to know the difference.
She is finest female vocalist in world.. Kind of ahocked given your profession you don't know her.. Take the journey you will be blessed. Great reaction..

We all wonder if So Hyang is human or from another planet. Current odds are that she’s from another planet or perhaps an angel come down from Heaven. We have never heard anyone sing like her, or be able to hold an audience in the palm of her hand until she lets them go. She does all the musical arrangements herself, teaches vocal technique at a South Korean university and speaks four languages. Korean, English, French and Vietnamese.
Let me catch my breath. OK.
She is a cancer survivor from uterine cancer at the age of 20, just after getting married, and states very plainly that God saved her life due to the prayers of her church. But this left her without the ability to have children so she decided to dedicate her life to being a Contemporary Christian Gospel singer and has refused recording contracts from the biggest corporations in the world. She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all travelled to Asia to work with her.
She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. Because of this she is prone to catching pneumonia but has sang perfectly while suffering from it in her live performance of “You Raise Me Up” before Shane Filan of Westlife on South Korean TV. th-cam.com/video/te_L9ofhUt8/w-d-xo.html She has asked those who love her singing to pray that God keep pneumonia away from her, she has suffered from it on so many occasions. Imagine how she must feel with this coronavirus floating around everywhere!

After being sick with pneumonia much of the time from 2016 through to 2020, and considering giving up singing altogether, she decided to enter a televised singing contest called “King of the Masked Singers” in 2017 and won six consecutive times, which has catapulted her into international fame from the performances being posted on TH-cam. Whitney Houston’s former manager saw her on TH-cam and showed her to Oprah Winfrey, who brought her to David Foster’s attention. Foster then contacted So Hyang and went to Japan in order to work together. She could be an international Super Star if she wanted to be but has decided that it would ruin her spiritually, quoting Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
In a South Korean television interview So Hyang conceded that she struggled with her desire for fame for a number of years, going into a basement storage room in her home numerous times and closing the door so she could complain vehemently to God that He was holding her back from becoming famous due to her health problems. Then she saw a Korean TV drama where the talented daughter of a very successful businessman was positive she would take over when her father was gone. But he did not leave her the ownership of the company, so she had a fit and lay kicking and screaming on the floor. So Hyang says she saw herself in that young woman and then understood that God was keeping her from developing bad character by witholding celebrity status from her. So as a consequence she does not pursue fame or fortune and actually has no social media presence whatsoever. What can one say about such a person? She is a literal Wonder Woman! And we need about a billion more just like her!

“Debuting in [the] US was my utmost goal for the past 20 years. But when I got a call from the US agency, I politely rejected, as I realized that what I wanted most was not becoming famous,” she said.
“I think singers are very susceptible to arrogance, especially when they hear the screaming from crowds on stage. It can make you feel like as if you’ve become God.”
“And I’m perfectly okay with sharing my music via TH-cam, which can reach tens of millions of people all over the world without making me feel stuck up. Maybe that’s why I was born in this era.”

Oh, I just remembered, she is also a published novelist and a very good stage actress, which she proved by playing Julie Andrews’ part in the South Korean production of “The Sound of Music.” Moreover, she sang the “Moana” part in the Korean version of the Disney film and is a talented artist.
She can also play the piano and guitar. Is there anything this genius level woman can't do?
I really must also compliment the choir, orchestra and audio/video production people So Hyang uses. They are all top notch from what I can see and hear. The Korean people are easily as talented as anyone else!
