    I am lucky enough to have met Jim at Toledo a few years back. As a kid I tried to build the 'Dodge Fever' Jim detailed in Car Model Magazine. I am also lucky enough to have met Roth a number of times as my Dad was a rep for Valvoline racing and we attended most So Cal car shows. I also met Roth at Knott's once. Good video on a person that has done a lot for our hobby. thx

      Little known there is a Roth Museum at Knotts Berry Farm. It’s not open to the public it’s in the employee spaces. But they have a whole bunch of his artwork there.

      @@ToyManTelevision To bad it is not open to the public. I went to Knott's on a rainy weekday a few years ago. I now live 3K miles away so we had to go on the day planned. We were treated like VIP's and given tours of many non public places.....wish I knew to ask about the Roth part!!!

    This was an interesting interview. He knew lots of talented artists and modelers (as you and Karen do as well). Guess it just goes to show how small a world it is, and that the levels of separation can be quite small.
    An example is that outside of Yuma there is a museum of Model T trucks and cars. So if you were to build a hot rod you may be able to get a start. Just saying. A great video. Looking forward to Tuesday.

    This is a great interview! Thanks so much for taking the time to put this video together. A couple of questions. Way up on top of one of the cabinets is what looks like the Tommy Ivo 4 engine dragster kit. Did Mr. Keeler design that kit? Also, I remember your video from a few years back about Revell’s Weekly Herald and Superior Bakery kits. Those were designed by Alan Armitage in the late 1950s when Mr. Armitage was working at Revell. From the interview it sounds like Mr. Keeler worked at Revell during the time Mr. Armitage did. During your visit with Mr. Keeler, did he mention crossing paths or working with Alan Armitage?

    The Tooling for anything can put a whole line out of production, Fleischmann Quit Making HO and sold it to ROCO which is also owned By Modelleisenbahn LLC because the tooling for the HO Profi Track was damaged, they still Make N though, I have never had a Fleischmann loco though.

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And track is the single most expensive thing to tool. That is why Bachman decided to go with ON 30 instead of ON3. They were looking for a way to package something that would go with department 56, and this way they figured they could just continue using their HO track And not need to tool up. Well approved to be so popular that they had the tool for ON30. anyway. But it’s really complicated to make molds the cast plastic on metal that way

      @@ToyManTelevision Kleinbahn (Austrian model train company which had it's own store) went out of business in 2021 after over 75 years, they were slow to adopt NEM (European version of NMRA standards) though.
