    I am 63 years “young”, and the first time I scored tickets to a Pink Floyd experience was 7/4/77. To score tickets you had to go to Central Park, to the big lawn, and wait for the Pig blimp to drop “lottery” tickets. If you were lucky enough to get one you could buy up to 4 seats at Madison Square Garden. We did. I was 16. It was an amazing experience and not a concert. Thanks for your great reaction ❤️

I cannot articulate in words the feelings I had during this performance. It was like my soul was transported to a higher dimension. I recall shouting and almost crying "This cannot be real! Right? His guitar is like a voice - as the human voice is also a musical instrument ❤
    It’s not just super talent, it’s soooooo beautiful.
    I’ve heard this brilliant song very many times since it was new and I think you’re right about this too: this concert seems particularly epic, partly BECAUSE so many years have gone by and it has become even MORE recognised and appreciated as brilliant - the audience KNOWS they’re experiencing greatness.

    I love David Gilmour's finesse on the guitar. Such smooth but restrained power seems to just float from the strings his fingers manipulate. Almost like a predator that just ate every bite of his meal and looks completely relaxed but in reality is ready for any surprise that requires an immediate response.

    The "trumpet" is actually a saxophone.
    He swaps from a bass sax for the lower notes to a tenor sax for the higher notes.
    The keyboard parts are played on a synthesizer.
    Synths have been around since the late 60s and became very popular during the 80s with bands like Depeche Mode, Human League and Gary Numan among many others.
    I had a few myself, a Roland SH09 a Roland Juno 60 and when they went from analogue to digital I got the obligatory Yamaha DX7.
    Think of them as a piano that you can get any sound from including wind, helicopters, explosions etc.
    I've been a multi instrumentalist for over 50 years, so if you have any questions let me know and I'll do my best to fill you in.
    ✌❤🇬🇧

      @Kristina-jf4hd 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I believe that’s a baritone sax and then either an alto or tenor sax. They look so similar it’s hard to see. My son’s a saxophonist and plays alto for the most part; although he can play all of them.

    • @coot1925
      @coot1925 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Kristina-jf4hd sax is a very expressive instrument.
      I don't know how old your son is but I hope he keeps going with it.
      I've taught myself 7 different instruments which comes in handy when I'm in studios.
      Wish him luck and good fortune from me.
      Us artistic people are hardwired different and not many people understand how our brains work, including ourselves.

    Your right, a concert that would ( and is ) remarkable one of the best or decades, next year it is 30 years ago, and the song is even played for 55 years in concerts

    Backing vocalists are brilliant - they get solos in Great Gig in the Sky at the same Pulse show. It’s a must-see.

    Those are called "musicians," bc they are masters at multiple instruments.
    In stark contrast to those today who call themselves musicians, but are not.

    You where like a little kid at times there 😊 yes, they are an experience 👍 I was 14 when I first saw them, 1974..😮😂 I consider Floyd, E.L.O., Genesis and Supertramp as the Modern Classical music of the 20th century 😊

    It will be 30 years this summer since I saw this show in Pittsburgh, so memories fade and/or change. However, it seems to me that for that show, they closed by playing this, Comfortably Numb, and finally Run Like Hell. The only disappointment I had was the fact that they didn't play Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. Brain Surgery/Eclipse would have totally wrecked me, so maybe it was a good thing.

      REALLY.......I always thought they played the entire DSOTM as the 2nd half of the concert every performance ?

      @@RassskleIf I remember correctly, they did for the concert immediately after the Pittsburgh show. Very disappointing.

    This is great live but the album version has more feel and emotion than the live. You should check that out. Also you mentioned the ladies so you might want to check out "the great gig in the sky" from this show. It's only the ladies who sing in it

    I love your reactions to these songs. These are songs I have heard ever since I was little. I can think of a ton of suggestions for you. Have you ever listened to Deep Purple, hush? The Cars, bye bye love?
    Whitesnake, slow and easy? There is also a band called The Moody blues, the name of the song is ride my seesaw. I'd love to see your reaction to those things. I can think of a ton of others in the realm of different genres of Rock that you may not have heard. Let's see if you are interested in any of the ones I mentioned and what you think of them.
