I just got a promotion at work today. I must thank people like Anna for her priceless advice. My manager told me part of the reason I was chosen out of 4 others is that I am articulate, well-spoken and well put together and that I was the best choice to face our clients. Thank you Anna Bey! People do notice effort and when you are an elegant lady, you are a cut above the rest.

I once attended a party where I had my natural eyebrow shape, lightly trimmed, neatly brushed, and lightly pencilled in in my natural brow color. Messing too much with my brows irritates my skin. The host and some of the women guests who were supposedly my 'friends' at my table made fun of me at length for not sporting the thick, dark, and sharp 2016 Instagram eyebrows that they did. After that party I stopped talking to them up to now. There is no reason to maintain ties with anyone who ridicules anyone, publicly and otherwise, for their appearance.

    • @Alex22.22
      @Alex22.22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +175

They are not your friends and I bet your brows are lovely 💛. I hate the harsh, painted Instagram look that just ages young women. Well, all women, but it's mostly young women who fall for this ridiculous look. It doesn't make anyone beautiful, it just looks awful. I have a younger colleague at work who insists on having this look and as a bit "older" (and wiser) I can only tell her my opinion. She still doesn't get it though.

    • @darkoshmarko

I believe there's nothing wrong with having strong eyebrows. Personally, my brows have always been black and quite thick naturally. However, while I do trim them, I never take away from the thickness. On the same note, I don't have the need to add any products on my brows, because I feel like they suit me just the way they are. My natural brows are possibly the best, unique, strong feature on my face, and they're going to stay.

I've been coloring my hair for years and also study color theory/color analysis. Not everyone looks good with ash blonde hair. In fact, if you have warm undertones, you might actually look better with the orange/copper look. Of course you should still visit the salon and get a toner every 6-8 weeks to freshen it up. It is worth it to pay for a professional color analysis - they advise you on wardrobe, makeup, and hair. I use to hate the color mustard, but then saw how stunning it looked on me when a professional showed me.

There are bracelets that act as a hair tie holder that look cute. I used to work in a field where I absolutely NEEDED to have at least 1 hair tie available. The bracelet allowed me to keep that function while also looking more elevated.
I think it’s very elegant to match your fragrance to the season. Light, bright, and fresh scents when it’s warm and warmer, deeper, richer scents when it’s cold. Everyone’s body chemistry is different so you need to wear what works best for you, but I generally stay away from fragrances that are too sweet (sickly sweet, almost like candy).

If you’re on a budget, Jimmy Choo L’eau for summer and Jimmy Choo Fever for winter. I get many compliments from men and women. Whilst they’re not my favourite, they’re inoffensive and tasteful, yet the lasting power is very good (to me personally anyway, and I’m so picky with scents!). You don’t need to break the bank to look/smell great. Also, if I had to only have one perfume for all occasions, Gucci Premier EDP.
    Favourites of all time:
    - Chanel Coco Noir, BEFORE the reformulation
    - Parfums De Marly Delina (no other PDM’s agree with me)
    - Christian Louboutin Loubirouge
    - MFK BR540
    - Jo Malone Amber and Ginger Lily
    - Tiffany Rose Gold for summer
    - JPG La Belle Intense for winter/night. Took some getting used to, it smelt almost dirty initially but now am in love with it… as is every man who walks past me.
And now the BODY CREAM! The Fenty Butta is awesome. It is so good for sensitive skin, but so silky and gorgeous. It’s one of those products that doesn’t let you down because it is exactly as the website describes. There is a very slight tropical scent, which to me personally mixes just fine with all perfumes because it’s so subtle. I personally don’t like perfumed lotion because I feel it is not made to nourish skin, just to make perfume last longer. Fenty Butta makes you G L O W! And no I am not sponsored 😂 just a nobody who loves sharing my favourite products with others!

But you don’t have to spend a lot for nice perfumes! Most expensive perfume I tested without buying was $600 AUD and it was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tried 😂 JPG la Belle intense isn’t cheap but I’d say for winter/night for a big bottle it’s quite reasonable

I change my perfume according to season (and mood). Instead of getting a perfume bottle, I get the travel sizes only so I can keep it in my purse. And remember to always spray or roll on enough. It’s a little tacky and annoying when theres too much. I use perfume to spritz on my clothes and then perfume oil for my skin:
    My favorites:
    Gucci Bloom - spring
    Chloe- spring
    Gucci memoire- winter
Dolce and gabana the one- fall & winter
The 7 virtues lotus pear- spring and summer
L’eau D’issey issey miyaki- spring and summer
Nest cocoa woods- fall and winter
    All year:
    Heretic- dirty vanilla

For the "smell topic", it really depends on your culture, in some country like Japan, a good smell is no smell. When you are perfumed, it is considered as, sorfy tu put it like that, "stinking". As someone with a really good sense of smell, i really relate to it. Someone overly perfumed can be as uncomfortable for me as someone smelling sweat. So...stay light in this area. A good amount is when ppl have to be close to you, (a few inches) to smell your perfume in my opinion.

I’m a southeast Asian and I was born with dark hair. In my early 20s I loved exploring different colours for my hair, nothing crazy like neon pink or green, but mainly like dark brown and light brown even blonde. The problem I have realised over the years is that the contrast between my root colour and the rest of my coloured hair colour really don’t look put together. And since I didn’t use colour protected shampoo and conditioner, after a while, the hair colour turned brassy, and that brassy paired with my black root hair. Ahh.🤦‍♀️. Apart from that , I have found that the lighter the hair colour I chose, the more it made my face feature “fades away”. It just made me look like a different person in my opinion. So after I turned 25, I stopped dyeing my hair , I slowly accepted my natural hair colour. It’s been 6 years and my hair has never been so healthy and silky and I don’t have to worry about dyeing my hair every 3 months or so. And let me tell you ladies, the quality of your hair does significant impact on your appearance and make you look a lot more elegant and youthful.
About fragrance, I have always love j’dore Dior. It is the one of the most sophisticated, timeless classic fragrances I have ever smelled. And it lasts so long on the skin and clothes too. A little goes a long way . I have got so many compliments from friends family and even strangers on the street whenever I wear it.

Ladies reading this, just don't fret about committing a fashion faux pas.... Life is too short so do what gives you happiness.. The only two items you need to have on your mental checklist before you leave your house should be your car keys and common sense 🙂
You are beautiful and carry yourself the way you want without getting overly conscious about committing a fashion blunder...honestly, just work on your personality which is sooo much more that just wearing make-up the right way and wearing "expensive looking clothes" Don't get me wrong, being well groomed is extremely important..i do ensure i look presentable but please that's just one aspect of my personality.. We often get too caught up with this aspect and ignore other aspects...so don't forget that there's soooo more to you than your outer self. .

Some people who self harm keep a rubber band around their wrist so they can snap it against their skin whenever they feel upset, sad, empty and etc. It's a substitute for more dangerous forms of self harm like cutting or burning.

I love this haircut on you! I have to say I’ve had a lot of people suggest to me to get highlights and have a more “fun” color, but this is exactly why I don’t dye it, it’s naturally brown and it would take a lot to keep it from going orange or brassy, I think it’s best to keep one’s natural color or not go too far, so much easier.

I also think to wear fragrance minimally, poor or excessive make up applications are a no, excessive lip filler that distort the lip line and a demure appearance are a very feminine and classy attribute. Definitely agree less is more.
Oh and I nearly forgot to mention fragrance. My favourites at the moment are Jo Malone Red Roses, Samsara and Aerin Amber Musk.

Point number 3: Foundation tone. This can *change* through the year AND also with getting older. Mix foundations within a given brand to get the right tone and colour and consistency. I've just changed to a lighter consistency and a lighter colour but same under tone and in winter it may change again.

Scent, more than any other sense, triggers memory. So I have bought fragrances from our travels in Italy. My husband LOVES it when I wear Aria di Capri or Scilla (from Tropea) or Signorina (by Salvatore Ferragamo). No one else wears these fragrances, so they are truly unique and not at all overpowering. But when I am close to my friends, they always compliment the scent.

Scent is very personal. How it smells upon a person depends on skin chemistry. In my teenage and early adulthood, I use L'Airr du Temps by Nina Ricci. The formulation has changed since then, but it was an elegant and light scent. I graduated to L'Anvin's Arpege and Chanel No 5. Many years ago, my brother gave me scents by Schiaparelli - so elegant and beautiful but no longer available. These days, as I totter into old age, I enjoy wearing a couple of scents by Les Parfums de Rosine. All the scents in the range are based on roses and made according to the classical perfumer's art. One scent is Un Zest de Rose which is citrussy and fresh and perfect for wearing to work or when a lady needs a little lift. The other is Une Folie de Rose, which I keep for evenings and Sundays. It is quite spicy and heady but not overpowering. The bottles and boxes they come in are very attractive, too.

Elegance in my book is having a bit of a playfulness, a bit of an imperfection. A bit like the Japanese concept of Wabi Sabi. My tip for the perfect foundation/concealer shade is to swatch it on your décolletage, wait at least 15 mins for it to dry down & oxidize, then check the color in natural daylight. If you have the wrong shade or undertone, you can always mix it with some other colors in a separate container then swatch it again. It's really hard for me to find makeup with the right undertone so I often have to mix in green & yellow concealer & sometimes a white foundation mixer if it's too dark.

my décolletage doesn't match my face.. . my trick is to go toa shade between my neck and my face so I don't have a line between my jaw and my face and I blend it . Also be sure to change up your foundation between fall winter -spring and summer -fall

I can vouch for the online color-matching quiz provided by a brand called IL MAKIAGE, who advertises on TH-cam using videos of women applying & blending their foundation.
I'm fair-skinned with light ash brown hair and grey-blue eyes able to lightly tan in the summer but pale in winter....and IL MAKIAGE lets you try their foundation for a full week before charging the $45 to your credit card -- it's worth every penny, imo, because their foundation matched me perfectly.
No, I'm not schilling for the company -- just sharing because it was such a relief to find a try-before-you- buy offer, after wasting my time mixing too-light & too-dark shades together, just to salvage the money I'd spent on drugstore-chain brands like Neutrogena.
Blessings to all you lovely ladies!

      @audiobundles8039 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@HosCreates I see what you mean, my décolletage doesn't match my face either but I like to use my foundation to match it as when someone is looking at you, subconsciously their eyes are comparing the colors between your face & décolletage, not as much the neck bc the shadows make it fade & kinda disappear if that makes sense. So I find when I make my face match my décolletage it looks like I have an even skintone. And yes, def change the color depending on the season!❤️

Good point about the perfumes Anna! Also it's important to remember that our clothes and hair attract smells around us for example cooking or fragrant candles.

On the other hand, for summer daytime, I've got Chanel Mademoiselle (may be cliche, but it's great for when I don't want to think too hard, and I actually really like it), Tocca Stella (smells like bitter oranges), Atelier Colognes, Jo Malones, Diors and Chloes.
