I bought this on DVD 20 years ago and forgot how great this concert was. This was a time where no musician felt the need to overplay and show off with their technical ability. Great compositions and playing from the heart. A reminder of of great times in music.
This song is typically the end of my day out in the yard or garage. Last track of the Offramp album. I have never heard him perform this live in the four times I have seen him. Also the alarm on my phone...
I wish I knew how to set up an alarm or notification on my phone! (Self-admittedly a neophyte.) I would have Phase Dance, James, and Bat Part II as the most important notifications! 😊
I never used to "bat" a musical eyelid at this last track from Offramp until I heard classical guitarist Jason Vieaux's version. Now it is an angelic lullaby.
I disagree, it is call visionary musician who accidentally predicted the future 30 years ahead of his time. Perhaps, since the reality is sad, hence you think it is funny. But to me, I can hear the loneliness and heart break of the bat...btw, I love Star Trek's music. Real music speak louder than words! Visionary music has 2 meaning. 1, you see some kind of vivid picture, 2. it predicted the future reality

Herbie Hancock’s solo is fu**ing amazing. We’ve to take care of his health !!
Hancock is just one of those supremely talented artists that get left out of mention.
