    Couldn't agree more about the Langdon Beck to Dufton bit - it is the highlight of the walk and such a surprise to come upon High Cup Nick.
    So glad you had good weather for Cross Fell! 😁 I sat in the shelter and couldnt see the trig Point. Visibility had been like that ALL day til I got down to Garrigill. Thank goodness for GPS. A couple I'd been walking with decided not to even try in that weather (Only had compass and maps.) Another guy I started out with, stopped to put on waterproofs, I never saw him again til he got to Alston four hours after me. I had alerted the staff, just in case so it was a relief when he arrived at 9pm.

      Wow, we were warned about the dangers of the hike over Cross Fell but as you said "thank goodness for GPS". It was the Helm Wind that really tested us, at some points it was nearly impossible to stay on our feet and thoughts of turning back did cross our minds.
