Hebridean Way - The Big Finish - Stornoway Here We Come
Please check, I think what you call Goatfell at the end of the valley is Cir Mhor and the Rosa Pinnacle. Goatfell is on the right as you look up the valley
Many thanks, you are obviously correct, from down in the valley things look different and its a lot of guess work but still very beautiful.
G'Day Great to have you hiking back on UK trails. Pity the weather wasn't the best. This looked like a fab trail. The waterfalls were awesome. My favourite def had to be the one you walked behind. The power and sound of it was incredible. As for the incident. Honestly sometimes it baffles me how silly some people can be for that perfect shot. Can't buy intelligence at times lol 🤦♂️😆 Keep on showing us your hikes and adventures. Were you camping along the Pennine Way? Looking forward to that adventure. Happy Hiking as always Slainte Mhath 🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🥃🥃
Thanks mate, the waterfalls were amazing and the guy was so lucky he had a quick acting friend, we live near the water in Australia and i have never seen anyone go under as quick as this guy did!!! very scary. We hiked the Pennine thru a company so had luggage transfer, a nice bed every night and breakfast..... lol
@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 W As you know we are a tiny wee island surrounded by water and we really dint get it or respect it enough. It's just not an education level in our schools. Australia more than likely has so much more education about safety in water. You guys have lots of things that can eat you and make life a little less enjoyable on a swim or scuba/snorkel lol Glad you are doing the Pennine Way with a little less house on your backs lol. Lets you enjoy the walk a bit more. Did you get the drone going on that walk? Looking forward to how you all got on. Speak soon Slainte Mhath 👍😃👍🥃🥃🥾🥾🎒
Yeah water safety is drilled into us from a young age, i did get to fly the camera(drone) hopefully i'll get started on the videos soon.
Great video guys. I'm very local to this area and I've never been up there before and I'm glad I've found your video as I plan to do the exact same route in a few days time - trying Dumgoyne on the way back down. How long did the walk take you from Distillery to trig point?
sorry for the delay in replying, we have been off on some more adventures in the UK and Spain, from memory we took our time and it was easily a couple of hours, but we do stop a lot to enjoy the surroundings. cheers Kay and Craig
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 thanks! I went up there a few weeks ago, if you fancy looking at the videos I took, I think they will be on my page. Just took my time and it was great!
Well done and yes we will watch your videos. Thank you
Very cool guys!
Thank You, the Hover Air X1 is a neat piece of equipment!!
This was brilliant. Some great shots of 2 of you and really smooth. Saves on the arms holding a camera lol. I had a look at ot and liked how the blades are in a cage. How did you find the battery life. You might need to register details in the UK and for the Camino as well just to be in the same side. I'm going to send this to my mate Terry who you might have seen in some of my videos who dies drone flying with a DJI. Are you camping along the Penine Way? This should be amazing for that walk and looks like it doesn't weigh very much either. You will be able to see what's ahead of you on your walks. Brilliant bit of kit Happy hiking and flying lol 👍🫡👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🥃🥃
Brilliant is not the right word for the Hover Air X1, it's an amazing piece of technology, the battery life is about 11 minutes but you get 2 batteries and in reality the shots that you need aren't that long anyways. The blades are caged so can't be damaged or injure anyone and it weighs only 128 grams. Our Pennine Way is all B&B's, Pubs etc for accommodation, no camping this time. We can't wait to get there on the trail. And thanks for the heads up about having to register the details for the Hover Air in the UK. Cheers Kay and Craig
My late dad and I spent many a wonderful day in Largs in my childhood. We would go out on fishing trips on a wee boat called ," THE GIRL IRENE," which would depart from the seafront directly in front of that big red church / cathedral ?. ❤
Wow how cool, you are so lucky to have those experiences and memories, and we love the boat name. Cheers Kay & Craig
A great video, I enjoyed it a lot ,thank you
Hey Davidd, thank you very much, we certainly enjoyed it too, cheers Kay & Craig
we🍉 0:03
I realise this was 2 years ago but how did you find/navigate this loop. Cheers
Our friends Heather and Charles have hiked this area many times before and had GPX files of the navigation for the Loop, it was very good and a lot of fun and worthwhile doing again. Cheers Kay & Craig
Well, I'm back guys-a great part 4. The cows were all mellow from here. I've never had any probs - usually walk through em. A nice pace to your walk. No rush - it feels good just to soak things up. Good going. Mark
Welcome back Mark, yeah cows scare us a bit but everyone keeps telling us to walk thru them....... well maybe next time. We have a golden rule and that is to hike at our own pace, "its not a race" and we do get to see and enjoy a lot more things that others just walk straight past!! Cheers Kay n Craig
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 Next time then Kay /Craig - you'll be troopers through a herd. Ha ha! Yes, I take my time too - some people crush the miles and they miss so much. A pleasure. I have the next one lined up now. Peace.
@@WyeExplorer Hope you enjoy, Cheers
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 I will no doubt.
Looks like an amazing multi-day hike. You certainly got through a lot of kms each day. I'd be interested to know how much weight you were carrying in your packs.
We were carring enough food for 5 days, 3 food drops over the entire hike, plus tent, sleeping and cooking gear, it was during winter so warm clothing, so i would say that i carried easily 20+kgs and Kay probably 15--18 kgs. Trust me the bags were heavy!!!!
That "shrubbery" is kinda known as a weed but people quite like the nice colour in their gardens -- Purple Toadflax I believe -- "fluff" that comes off it gets on your clothes especially in my wild garden !
Thanks for the update, it was the colour that got us. cheers
Excellent video you have created of Tambo I look forward to seeing take 2 and many more adventures 😀 (From no.1 fan)
Thanks Matt, we have a few adventures in the pipeline, how is your new job?
Sometimes a walk can be too risky and although it's really frustrating when you have to turn around you don't want a tree falling slogging away at jumping over those fallen logs like a soldier in training lol. They are taking their time in clearing it. Looking forward to you conquering it next time. Take care 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
So true, very dangerous with fallen trees, they say that the Super Cell Storm which come thru on Christmas night was like a mini tornado and left a path of destruction, even homes were destroyed!!! An added problem being here in the Australian Bush is the snakes!!! stepping and climbing over fallen trees you just don't know what you might step on!!!
@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 wow you def dont have these problems on the West Highland Way with killer snakes or spiders lol. That's awful about the destruction that the winds can cause and can make the clear up long and costly in places. Just be careful on your next adventures...but happy hiking as always 👍😃👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Cheers mate @@ScottsLand
Lots of bird song 👍🏻
Hey Jane, we have lots of different birds in our bush at home here, its truely amazing, you'll find that out for yourself when you come to visit!!!!
Nice trip 😊
Thanks for your comment, it certainly was a nice trip, hard carrying all our gear but worth it.
I see you took your Tradelink cup with you 😂
Free advertising, should send in a bill!!!!!
Well, I'm back again. So good to see you in my back yard - I was with you every step of the way. It is a fantastic valley the Vale of Ewyas where Llanthony is. Good to hear you had a good night there. A nice easy walk for you on top - the weather was superb. Hay next. Good going. Mark
Cheers Mark, we had an amazing and Epic hike, such a beautiful part of the world.
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 A pleasure - hey good to hear of the hike. Yeah, the borderlands are lovely, green and rolling. Peace.
Great movie! Thank you guys for posting it. I am thinking of doing this walk solo this Christmas so I enjoyed every second of this video.
Hey, thanks for watching, this is a really exciting adventure and well worth doing, take your time and enjoy it and don't forget to buy a pie from the Nelson Kiosk...... they are amazing!!! cheers Kay and Craig
Congratulations Kay enjoy a long and happy retirement 🎉🥂
Thank you Jane. Hope to see you next year when we visit the UK. Pennine Way here we come!
That was great fun. The beautiful views, the bit of a hill walk and the amazing beach with that water so clear. You know what a Scottish morning is like...definitely not what you guys did. Its a different way and pace of life there by the looks of it. As you know not many of our shops open early doors either 🤦♂️. I would have taken the wetsuit, mask and snorkel and explored that water. Is there places to dive and scuba there? Hope the Go Pro is ok ready for more over land and undersea exploring lol Congratulations btw on retirement. Let the adventure begin lol. Stay safe folks Speak soon 👍😃👍🥾🥾🏴❤️🇦🇺🤿👌
Cheers mate on your comments, it's amazing just how you don't appreciate your own back yard!! Snorkeling and scuba diving is huge here and very accessible, tourism is our number 1 employer here. Hopefully my GoPro has survived, the rubber on-off button had worn thru and a small hole allowed the water in. We are in the plans of heading back to the UK to hike the Pennine Way then head to Spain for the Camino experience. Fun times ahead. Cheers Kay and Craig
Hope the Go Pro survived. Might be cool to do a wee snorkel video as that water looked amazing and seems really clear. As for your Pennine hike that will be awesome. Looking forward to seeing your adventures. The Camino de Santiago is a tough one, especially if the heat kicks in. For me a walk like would be a bit like the West Highland Way with what can be achieved on more of a mind over matter spiritual journey. Another awesome hike awaits. Looking forward to that one as well. Happy hiking as always 👍😃🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Wowzer...you guys sure know how to take it easy. The pace of life is a bit different in Australia by the looks of it. So many people in a hurry. 😂😂Thanks for taking us for a run. Take care Looking forward to the next adventure but take it at a slightly slower pace you don't want an injury 😂🥾🥾🎒😀👍👍🥃🥃
The magic of the Movies, trust me we never rush things as there are too many things that you can miss along the way.
How lucky are we to live on the Gold Coast, how about a leisurely walk through Springbook and the waterfalls, would make great viewing, loving your work
They are coming!!!!@@keithgoodall9402
When are you coming back to the Gold Coast Crackels?
back now
Well done guys Brilliant effort I have been keeping up with this walk you were on and look hard work in places. The rain didn't help towards the end thats sure but you did it....Well.eaened pint and rest afterwards. Keep up them great walking and exploring 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃
Thanks Mate for your kind words, the rain was all part of the experience and as i kept saying in the video it was really an EPIC adventure, the Offa's Dyke Path is up there with Wainwright's Coast to Coast and the West Highland Way. Cheers, Kay and Craig
Every adventure with a solid pair of boots on and a pack on the back can be epic lol. This walk does look brilliant. Your hebridies hike looked brutal so for me that looked a bit much. The coast to coast is on my list at some point but I have my eye on the Fife coastal Way...if you know my channel you know my strength and love for hiking stemmed from the WHW and have never got tired of promoting it and walking it when I can. Hiking is amazing fun just getting out into the countryside does wonders for health and mental health. Keep on hiking and having brilliant adventures 👍😃👍🥾🥾🥃🥃
We are back home in Australia now and have just completed a 250km loop hike which i hope to have uploaded within the week......hopefully, so much different to the UK, but still- as we say- EPIC @@ScottsLand
I drove this route many times in a real locomotive the class 37 when I was a fireman working out of eastfield traction depot Glasgow queen street to Oban 1974 day shift and night shift on what they called the ghost train Mail train fantastic scenery during the day my uncle was a mainline driver spent many shifts with him he would let me drive only 19 driving that huge engine this video brought back many memories
Wow what an amazing and interesting story, thank you for sharing, we are so glad that it helped bring back those memories, thank you.
many🍈
Nice crossing to the isles guys. Ha, heavy packs but the views weren't. It looked impressive, which made the bog bashing all the more worth it. Well, you got the ferry - that's cutting it fine. Good going both. Mark
Hey Mark, yeah it was an epic dash to catch the ferry but in hindsight very enjoyable, even the bog bashing which gets worse on the next few islands. The packs never seemed to get lighter as the miles went by, but worth it all the way. It made hiking Offa's Dyke Path a couple of weeks later seem so different with the luggage transfer and non-tent accomodation... lol. The Wye River and Valley was so beautiful and can't wait to go back. Cheers Kay and Craig
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 Good to hear of the exciting times on this trek both. Yeah, worth it all the way. Yes, the Dyke is different - pleased you find the lower Wye beautiful. The Upper Wye is pretty good to. A pleasure. I have others lined up.
Absolutely loved that guys. End to end I found it a motivation seeing you enjoy my home. I've done all of it up until Kington so where you stamped to and you brought back so many good memories. I've been meaning to step back on. I will be doing shortly. The woodland and open country is a dream. Part 2 now. All the best. Mark (Hereford)
Many thanks Mark, we absolutely loved the walk, the country and the people that we met along the way , Part 2 and the rest of the walk is still in the making, hopeffully soon. Cheers, Kay and Craig
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 A pleasure Kay/Craig. Good to hear of your joy on trail. I'll keep an eye out for part 2. Have a good week ahead.
One of the most long & boring train journeys in history. Sure, the views are nice, but the train goes about 15 miles an hour the whole way! Just over 3 hours by rail. I can do it in just under 2 hours by car. But thanks for the video 😁
Lol, only boring i you have never done it before and being from another country its nice to see the countryside, but glad you watched it anyways, cheers
What's yer hurry?
@@arthurgordon6072I'm talking from a local point of view. For tourists is a lovely journey. But if you're just trying to get from point A to point B, it's a boring, tedious journey.
Nice vid but its a Loch , not a Lake !
Thanks, being from Australia its easy to forget the local names, my mistake.
Have been to Largs many years ago for the small sailing boat World Championships, it's so funny that for the first day, the race was cancelled due to strong wind, the second day the race was cancelled because of no wind.
Ha Ha, typical, but Largs is a beautiful town and we really enjoyed our trip there
Wondering what the prices for the journey are, what the facilities on the trains and ferries are like. A Google search suggests the ferry trip lasts about ten minutes each way, is this accurate or does it vary with weather conditions? Good to see some sights signposted locally, it would be useful to see more of Great Dunbrae as it looks very peaceful and pretty.
Thanks for watching, prices vary a lot but we found if you book ahead you tend to save a bit, the facilities are passable and the ferry ride is unbelievable and weather does have an affect but the best way to find out is go there and enjoy like we did.
thx a mill
We hope you enjoyed, cheers
Another great video guys. Well done to you both for having such a fantastic adventure. Its time to put your feet up and have a well deserved dram lol. Thanks for taking us along and at times it looked really hard work and not very well signposted. Hope you guys keep on hiking and exploring new place. Look forward to the next adventure. Stay safe and take care. Well done again 😁👍👍🍻🥃🥃🥾🥾
Many thanks, it was by far our hardest ever hike but was an amazing adventure and only 10 days after we finished the Hebridean Way we hiked the EPIC Offa's Dyke Path!!!!!
That looked seriously hard work. You captured the adventure perfectly. A little scary though on top of that hill with the mist. That beach looked brilliant. Your right if it had been nice and warm I would have been in that water for a look 🐬🤿🤿 You are doing fab on this hike. Keep up the great work. Happy hiking 🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃
Cheers, it was scary but also exciting, never been so wet before!!!!
Not as brutal as Part 1 enjoying following you on your journey of the Hebridean Way 👏🏻
Don't worry Jane it does get brutal!!!!!
I love the fact that you are never in a hurry. I find your episodes calming and quite therapeutic. Some of the scenery is amazing. I walk with you in spirit.
Thanks Carlo for your kind words, you can't enjoy the journey if you are in a hurry!!!! The Hebridean Islands are totally amazing.
Awesome video. Really enjoyed the build up and your journey to the adventure. That's a handy bus stop. Used it many times rather than going into Glasgow city centre. The beauty of these islands and its just you guys with your world on your back is sheer bliss.I have fancied exploring these islands but don't fancy running to catch the ferry lol . How did you get on camping? This looks like one amazing walk and adventure. I'm really jealous lol. Looking forward to the next part Take care 👍🙂 👍🥃🥃🏕🎒🎒🥾🥾
Many Thanks for your kind comments, the Hebridean Way is a very awesome trek but very hard, with the wind and rain, bogs and road walking but so enjoyable. Camping was the best with both wild camping and camp sites, you meet the most amazing people there, we only had one night where the wind forced some rain inside the tent and only 2 windless nights and woke up to swarms of midges at the front door!!!!!! Episode 2 may take a little while unfortunately because at the moment we have just started hiking Offfa's Dyke, on our first day in Chepstow, a long way to go!!!! Many Thanks for your ongoing support Cheers Kay and Craig
Used to live in Carlisle Pennsylvania. Would love to see the real Carlisle. I enjoy your episodes very much. Thanks
Many Thanks Carlo, Carlisle is a really beautiful town with its Cathederal. Very much worth the visit. We appreciate you enjoying our adventures and hopefully many more to come.
That looks awesome. Did you feel strange power from them. I would love to see these. I always think if the show Outlander with these stones. If you haven't seen it it's well worth a watch. I could be wrong in thinking that these were before Stonehenge. The Scots got there first lol. Great shots and looking forward to your long distance hiking adventure. Stay safe. Happy hiking as always 👍😊👍🥾🥾🥃🥃🏴🏕️
They were amazing and you did get a strange feeling standing amongst them, Our bus driver told us a bit of history about them to add to the mystery of them. YES they are a lot older than Stonehenge, thumbs up to the Scottish!!!!! Once again, many thanks for your support. Cheers
Lovely video and it's good you let people know about the train stops to get on and off. I walked that bridge a few years ago and could feel the bounce of it a bit. The new Queensferry crossing is a bit different. There was a ballot for walking across that when it first opened just for pedestrians before it was the main road bridge. My mate and me both went for it and he got to walk it and I didn't. That's life I suppose lol. Great day for it. Gotta love the auld railway bridge. Stunning bit of engineering. Lovely shots. How are you getting on training for your Hebridean Way? Getting any more camping in? Stay safe 👍😊👍🥾🥾🎒🥃🥃🏴
Thanks for your support, the 3 bridges are amazing and worth seeing. We completed the Hebridean Way a couple of days ago, it was the hardest hike that we have ever done but well worth it and our tent held up well.
Great fun on this video. I really chuckled when you took us a tour of the tent. Well played on that one. I love every inch of the WHW and being on my doorstep it never gets boring. How did you find all the gear and carrying it all for a few miles? I carried all my kit on the first day up to millorchy Bay and it was a bit on the tough side for my introduction to long distance walking but still had a blast. Do you have anymore camping trips planned before your hebridies way. Brilliant video and don't worry about the sound issues at the end Happy hiking 👍😁👍🥾🥾🏴
Many thanks, your comments are muchly appreciated. It was an 18km hike from Milngavie to Drymen Camping and then 18kms back the next day, and yes there was a weight issue so we had plenty of rest stops along the way, we are working thru what we really do need to carry and what not to. We are planning a wild camp up on the Kilpatrick Hills. The Hebridean Way is only just around the corner now so we are getting very excited and hopefully it will be just as good as the WHW. Cheers Kay & Craig
Lol this made me chuckle. I know this junction. Im local to that area and Im surprised there wasn't anybody over asking them about their vespas or the people shouting at them lol. They seemed to be enjoying themselves lol. Nice wee capture
We had a good laugh too, its so great to see them out enjoying themselves, with the freedom of the road and the wind in their hair. The locals loved having them here. cheers Craig and Kay
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 The west end is full of weird and wonderful things at times. Do you guys have an Instagram account that accompanies this YT channel? If you are in the Glasgow area it would be cool to connect on Insta as well 👍😁
not yet but its something that we are looking at, hopefully soon.
Hello! What can you do in Oban?
Heaps, its a beautiful Seaside town, great shops and places to eat and drink, lots off seafoods, catch a ferry to the islands, visit McCaiggs tower, great views up there, you can have a really nice weekend there.
Visit the Oban Whiskey distillery as well...
Wonderful Malham!!
made even more wonderful with the company kept.
Fabulous! Love the music!!
it certainly suits the train journey
Great video! I've subscribed!
Many thanks we appreciate your support
I like the map at the intro. I wish everyone included that!
Thanks Suzanne, we love it too, it gives a real feel of the countryside in which we are travelling, cheers.
How long did the orbital route take you to complete.
Hey Adrian, the orbital route is not very long and a flat walk, easily done in 3hours, the views along the river spey are beautiful so the walk becomes very slow!!!!! cheers craig and kay
Thanks for the upload. We are relocating to Scotland so it was lovely to see it in detail. Really helped
Rhys, It's an amazing place to be, we have loved every moment that we have been here, the countryside is amazing, hopefully you'll fall in love with Scotland like we have.
It’s a de facto Communist State. Great country if you like that kind of thing.
Beautiful place folks, view ay 8:10 is stunning.
Many thanks, the views were amazing and we loved the hike.
Great wee tour. The course isa funny old place. If you live in St Andrews you can play on that links course for next to nothing but if you live anywhere else it's many years waiting list and hundreds or thousands to play it. People play golf with their dogs at their side. The beach is brilliant and you can sand surf on West Sands. The houses and hotels along the side and behind the clubhouse are some of the most expensive properties to buy in Scotland. Million pound row they all it. The streets are great. Clean tidy and easy to navigate. They have a brilliant bakery as well. So many brilliant independent shops. Did you see Tom Morris grave behind the old gravestones at all? People leave golf balls and Ts so he never runs out lol. Great tour and a place I love to visit as much as possible. Camped there a few years ago so thanks for bringing it all back. Take care and stay safe 👍😁👍🏴
Cheers, thanks for the information, muchly appreciated, but, we didn't see Tom Morris grave, where exactly is it located?
@@nicolkellettbushwalkingadv4581 Its at the ruins and graveyard in the centre if you look on the walls there is a white one with a tomb in front of it and the wall headstone is Tom Morris hitting a putt. Keep up the good work and Happy Christmas when it comes 🎅🏻🎄🥃👍😁
