  • Hi folks. This is the first episode of a new series I'm starting for tips and tricks on the PO-33 K.O! In this episode I talk about how sampled complete kits with layered drum parts to reduce voice stealing as well as how modify those kits for variance in your songs.
This is not a video series devoted to the basics of the PO-33 as those have already been well covered. This is series devoted to advanced techniques, hacks and workflows that may not be as well known.
If anyone is interested in the case I use, it is one of these: dichstudios.co...
I'm not sponsored by them nor have any affiliation. I just think they make a good case.
I hope you folks enjoy and if you ever feel like supporting me in what I do, I'd love for you to check out one of my albums. Link below.

I like to layer sounds. But I do like the whole beat.
    You rock.
    Keep on keeping on Magger.

the problem is that your source won't always have that if you're sampling music directly, so without an op-z/op-1/other device you'll have to do some work to merge the kick/hat or snare/hat before loading it into the po-33
most classic breaks play the hat with the kick/snare anyway but in other cases it's almost not worth using up another track for the snare alone, unless you're using an op-1 alongside it and use the po-33 solely for drums

Quick question! When doing break beat stuff do you get slices of the break or one shot drums? I was trying to make something with the Amen break but can’t get it to sound right

I don't use one shots. I sample the break into the drum slots and let the auto-chop try to find the transients which it does to varying degrees of success. Then I go in with the trim feature and clean them up.
I also helps if you try to find a break that is at the same tempo as your project on the KO. But if not you can try to use the pitch to get the tempo of the sample closer to the tempo of the device.

Where did you find a plastic cover for PO-33?
