    I love this little sampler. Use mine constantly. Put out two albums made on it and I still can't leave it alone.

    Ive found out that when you hold the po like you did, you can sometimes connect the connections on the back of the po, and that sometimes causes glitching.
    Better to get a case or lay it flat

    Great video content as always man! I really like how you explain processes and share best practices that are easy to understand.
    I’m not sure if you plan to bring this up in a future tutorial but I actually enjoy sampling drums into the melodic section. I then copy the drums from the melodic section into the drum section to get the automatic chops. This sometimes can bring some very interesting results as the chops may not always be perfect (and that’s something you want to experiment with). I scan each of the pads to see what I get and what works in combination. I also adjust the chops to taste when needed as far as the beginning or the tail end goes for the chops I want to use. Though, I mostly try to stick with the imperfection of the chops as much as possible. I typically look for the kick on 1 pad, a snare on another, and a high hat on a 3rd pad. Depending on what I hear, I’ll sometimes run a low pass kick on 1 pad and a copy of the drums, with a high passed snare and high only, on another pad. Lastly, I press the play button and hold the write button (when holding write, you should not see the write icon) to play/record my drum patterns live. You can chain empty patterns together first before recording your drums live to basically set the amount of bars you wish to record your drums into.
    This process, with the addition of the swing, will make your drums sound more natural versus programmed. If this is something that’s helpful, you can share this tip with others in one of your tutorials if you like. I’m open to explain more in detail if needed. Especially if my instructions aren’t clear.
    Keep up the great content!

      Yo man that’s dope. I’ve been doing that with chops which is something I’ll obviously do a video on too. That trick for setting more than one pattern first though is really cool. Didn’t know about that I’ll definitely be trying it! Also couldn’t remember how you did that write technique I was trying so many combinations but just convinced myself I made it up and stuck to using the step seq! Will be sure to pass on the knowledge soon - thanks a lot man!

    • @unanimousarts
      @unanimousarts 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spvidz No problem! You definitely have to count when using the write technique and the PO will still slot your live drumming into pads it thought you pressed. Even then, this can give you a random, off beat pattern. It’s all in the experimentation. Let’s say you chained a 4 beat pattern. You hit play, hold the write button with 1 finger and use your other fingers to start drumming. It can be tricky if you’re not used to it but by watching the sequencer and counting (if you have to), you can record your live drumming into the 4 bar patterns without having to program them. If you end up disliking the off beat pattern, you can go in and adjust the steps in whichever pattern the undesired recording sits. Either way though, what works best for you is what matters. Can’t wait to see your next tutorial!

    Thank you for the explanations! : I was wondering if there is a way to merge patterns, so that if I copy a pattern on another slot that the sounds that are already saved on this new slot stay there and the ones I want to copy would be added? That would at least be a great feature, if you e.g. have a melodic part and a drum pattern and want to use them separately and then combined within a song..

    Great video! Any tips on why when I add the hi-hats on 1,5,9,13 it overrides the bass and snare?

    • @spvidz
      @spvidz  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that’s because you can only have a certain amount of banks/sounds triggering. I only ever have four banks maximum. One for each drum sound and samples. I think if I tried another for bass I would get the same issue

    • @xxdrumerboy
      @xxdrumerboy 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@spvidz Totally hear you on that. I might be missing something here, but I followed your steps. Added bass and snares on 1,5,9,13 and when I added the hats on those, it choose the hats over the other drum sounds. Ive read 4 is the max sounds at once but feel like mines only does 1 at time.
      Update: It overrides the bass/snare if i add hats from the same sound group but doesnt if i add it from another sound group.

      @@xxdrumerboy yeah this little sampler only does 1 polyphony per drum bank, and a total 4 polyphony across the 8 drum banks.
