      Two dresses that fit what she wanted. She wanted a huge ballgown with a giant skirt and tons of embellishments and beading all over including the skirt and the back, which you will not find with lower priced dresses. If she wanted an a-line with some beading, then she would have an endless supply of options for $4,000. But that’s not what she wanted so it’s $$$$$$$

    If you are old enough to get married AND your mother is getting you a 4000 dress--you are BLESSED!! My mom and dad gifted us 3000 for the whole wedding. They were having trouble financially but I NEVER asked them for anything.
    I got a beautiful dress, we had a long engagement and paid for everything ourselves!! It's called being ADULT !!
    Married 27 years and together for 31!!

    There's a simple way to avoid this kind of drama when a very self-centered daughter is involved. Just tell her your budget is $x,xxx, and anything over that amount, you and your fiancee will have to pay for. End of discussion.

      My daughter was very respectful of my limited budget: Here is xxxx dollars for your wedding, whether it's for the dress or cake or whatever; when the money is gone, it's gone. No pouting or drama or tears. In the end, her perfect dress was about 1/4 the whole budget and it was the first one she tried on. It's still beautiful after 26 years.

    If that shop only has four dresses within your budget then that is the wrong shop to be in. $4,000 is a lot of money for a wedding gown and that budget could go far in many shops. I have bought and sold wedding dresses for 20 plus years…she could find a dress in her budget…elsewhere.

    I admire Lori for being supportive towards the mother. Some stores guilt people saying it’s a once in a lifetime event, or don’t you want her to be happy? Etc. The mother looked like she was on the verge of tears and that daughter didn’t seem to care.

      Plus I'm sure Lori has had experience where a family member agrees in the shop but as soon as they get home another person says absolutely not and have to cancel the dress. This avoids cancelation.

When I was a teen and a young adult, my mom controlled my clothes... so, she went shopping with me, and I knew that, when she said that line, I had no other choice than trying the clothe, fully knowing I'd have to buy it, no matter if I liked it or not.
      I hate that line and every person who uses it.

    $4000 is a very respectable amount of money to be able to spend on a dress. Lots of time has passed since this aired and I hope she has matured......and apologized. Her mother felt shame, which is terrible because she should have been very proud.

    Mom should have been telling the little princess NO from the time she was a toddler. It's like the sister said, THIS is what she raised.
