Good for the Thai economy with all these new malls coming up, providing jobs for locals alike 😊
After a few weeks most of the newly hired employees will stand with a bored face between their goods and play with their phones. 🤷🏼♂️ That's the truth.
Take a look at the neighboring malls, they never suffer from a lack of customers. With this location and good management, they will be successful for sure. Thais know how to invest in such projects. No one throws billions around just like that.
@@karstenlink3921 don’t worry for them. They are fine.
@@karstenlink3921So..? Such a complainer 🙄
Not really, a lot of people in service job are from Laos, Myanmar.
Nothing better than when a city experience renewal and reinvention! Bangkok is never static and stagnant with development projects. Thanks for sharing the video Jeroen.
that's what I like in Thailand and in Bangkok: Amazing Thailand, over a few hundred meters you can come across luxury stores and small street stalls!!
Wow, they opened quicker. Before it said the 15th December. The mall looks nice.
I was there for the 10am opening. It’s a nice mall. My general impression is that the shops are mostly not duplicates of the shops in the nearby Emporium and EmQuartier.
Look bigger than Singapore stand alone IKEA building.
Wow, look at this place it's humongous in any direction you at it. This is epic, and it's wonderful to see another shopping mall up.I don't think Thailand is a poor country when it comes to building shopping malls of high-rise apartments. What is good is that there are jobs for people and being a very welcoming country tourist will love to wander around and hopefully spend their money. Jeroen, as always, it's a great vlog, and hopefully, you'll do an update.
soon.
Bangkok never sleeps, always a pleasure being there, simply love it👍🏼😊🇹🇭🙏🏼
True!!🎉
Great video, as usual! Bangkok is rocking these days!
Jeroen!!! What a nice update again!!! Bangkok treats us well and thanks to your videos, I am never bored; there is always something new! But hey, tell me, how many twins do you have? Yesterday I see you doing check up at the hospital, next I see you in Koh Lippe and this morning exploring EMSPHERE! That's many Jeroens :) Please thank your brothers too and continue your updates of Wonderful Thailand! Take good care!
Haha, welcome to Hollywood in Bangkok. Everything is possible online :-)
wow beautiful Bangkok continues..like they say..Amazing Thailand..wish i were there now…dreams
Next year there will be One Bangkok mall, Central Dusit mall and The Bangkok Mall and Central Siam Square mall.
Bangkok metro is probably one of the cities with the malls in the world.😊
I absolutely agree with you, Bangkok can always amaze you; you can keep visiting it and never get bored
Wow, the IKEA is big. I thought it would be only a small one.
I always enjoy the new malls in Bangkok so I'm looking forward to seeing the Emsphere on my next visit in January. Thanks Jeroen.
I hope they have great success with their new shopping center.
Only show, show, and show again ! Thats a great B.S. ! Importent are the pricelevel, nothing else .......
I dont understand what you are saying.
Wow the ‘Em Sphere is amazing ! Thx for showing ! I wanted to be there for the Grand Opening but had to leave BKK on the 29th. I wish I could join you on your meetup Dec 2nd. Hope to see you guys again at a future meetup in 2024 Jeron !
I absolutely love how in Bangkok you can go IKEA for meatballs and get a luxury car in the same building!
I was there today as well. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it was the grand opening at first. After returning from Benjakitti Park I saw the end of the celebration in Benchasiri Park, drawn in by the fireworks. 🎆
It's definitely an awesome mall and adds another remarkable architectural structure to the Sukhumvit Area. For anyone in Bangkok right now, don't miss Med Music in the Park at Benjakitti Park tomorrow! 👍
It free to go in?
@@-dosocial7595 Med Music in the Park? Yes it’s free 🙂
Great review Jeroen - I was there with my son at about the same time you did your review and the Emsphere certainly is impressive and has quite a different vibe to the other Bangkok malls. I remember what used to be on the site 20 years ago - the Irish bar, the ladyboy theatre, etc it's sad that they are gone. The Emsphere theatre and bars now have some old school guys to entertain with new shows and beers!
I was there on opening day, probably just a few hours after you-- I watched the celebrities walk the red carpet that evening. Which was fun, but I did not know most of them, however I did recognize a few. I had a good viewing spot, but I kept getting crowded out by little fangirls, who kept pushing their way in front of me and then holding up big fan signs, and blocking my view. So that was annoying. I didn't really have time to explore the mall after the celebrities parade, because there were so many people there, and the fangirls had pretty much exhausted me. So I guess I will have to visit it again on my next trip to Thailand, when the crowds have settled down a bit.
Thanks Jeroen! Always good seeing you. The whole Phrom Phong area is really impressive. I’m definitely not going to recognize Bangkok the next time I visit!
Gorgeous! Thanks and can't wait to visit!
Awesome. I walked past in August and was still a massive construction zone. Will be back in Bangkok again soon. Will check this out
Now the day finally comes!!🤩🥳🥳 Thank you for showing us this beautiful brand new mall. I will visit there soon, that’s for sure!😍🥰🤩
Thanks for the update Jeroen 😃👍🏼. I wonder when you will show the second half of the Pink line...
Thanks for insight into the new mall. Would be great to see an evening walk among all the Christmas lights and trees. If there's one they know in Bangkok, it's how to decorate during Christmas.
The great country of Thailand !
I was there the other day, but yesterday while you were there I was at warehouse 30 and river city. Was amazing not been before
Thank you for your update 😊
Thanks as always jereon always enjoy watching,,,,peace and happiness
Constant amazing development in Bkk 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you for this update.
The view from cafeteria is stunning. I will come here everyday for lunch. 🤩
Beautiful informative video. It just makes me want to see more of the mall. If you can, please make a follow up video of this mall. Would visit it on my next visit to BKK. Once again, thank you for uploading this video.
Ik zit voor het moment in BKK,ik volg je kanaal al een tijdje, wat een overweldigende stad toch
Built that huge place so fast, will check it out tomorrow
10 years since conception
Nice and beautiful luxury mall 🏚😊👍😉🫶❤️🎉🎊
Cool mall, just right next to the park 😍
Must visit place 👍 Thanks for video 🙏
Thank for good video bro. ❤❤❤❤
Tiny bit of correction in the beginning, the mall group only partially owns Siam Paragon with Siam Piwat (another retail development company). Iconsiam is actually owned by Siam Piwat, C.P. and Magnolia Development.
This was previously the Dinosaur Planet 😂. Good old memories of Bangkok.
Apple Store will be here in the future at EM Glass Hall (G/GM fl. EM Tower which IKEA restaurant stands)
So the Apple Store will be Below the IKEA Restaurant??
@@Iceyfire12 Yes.
@@phenocalypse Cool Thanks for the Info Phen!
this final part of the EM district is likely to make the three mall plaza a "city within a city" and it will only get better. It will be difficult for any mall to usurp this arrangement. It looks like a great fun mall not so many high end places. Great tour GTM
Yes I was there at the same time as you and was quite impressed with the layout however I do hope the surrounding infrastructure can handle it because the traffic here is already horrendous 😂
My kids will definitely love it. It's a playground and perfect for playing hide and seek.
So good ❤❤❤
an accurate&detailed second visit is mandatory Jeroen hehe
Great report as usual Jerome. Know where I can get a list of rental condos in this area?
Might want to move there late next year will see what happens !!
This mall is not luxury mall. It is more of life-style mall where goods and food are affrodable , diversed and down-to-earth. Similarly to other malls in thier porfolio in outskirt of Bangkok like The Mall Life style Bangkapi / Nagam Wong Wan / Bang Kae. and I heard some part of this mall will be open 24hrs. Not sure but hopefully true.
Soo Much fun
I see perhaps less people wearing masks , looks like it will be a must visit place for awhile. Thanks for the vlog…
It’s the world class
Hopefully the cars will still there in April
I think less than 5 years onwards, Bangkok will lookslike Singapore or Seoul. The rest of South East Asia still lagging in term of modernity, infrastructure that Bangkok has.
It took 20+ yrs to get to this stage! It would take another 20+ yrs for it to be slightly more modernize! Bangkok would need to destroy many major Communities and designate certain areas for Progressive Development and that isn’t going to happen within 5 yrs! Don’t worry Bangkok will remain basically the same in 5 yrs with just more developments! If Bangkok had 50+ projects with billions invested in each project slated for the next 10 yrs yes I would agree with you lol! However there are only 3
Thanks for the compliment ka. I know you mean well. However, I'd like to add that no other city has fabulous palaces and magnificent temples like Bangkok :-)
I guess on Phuket is also an Ikea right?
Bangkok does shopping malls right 🙏🏻
The same time with KL's Exchange TRX Mall opening! 😃 What is M stands for in the EMSphere name?
Thai people sure love shopping malls. Coming from the US I thought it was funny how some travel guides highlighted shopping malls as places to visit but since I grew up with them as a regular thing it's a type of place I avoid.
If its hot enough you will be craving for the AC in the shopping malls :-)
cool
This made me think: has any city in the world changed as much as Bangkok has over the past 40 years? Maybe Dubai, but not many others. C1980, there were only 2 or 3 ‘upmarket ’ malls: the low rise close to the old ( much lamented) Intercontinental ( the star tenant of which was Jaspals) , Amarin Plaza and Robinsons Silom. Even today I like Amarin for a coffee: at least I know I can find my way back out.😂
You could add Kuala Lumpur
Many more cities in China.
Isn’t the Amarin still under construction! If they want to be successful though they should’ve add an Amazing Carved Thai Marble Water Feature in the center!!!
@@Iceyfire12
Yes, now part of the Gaysorn group. I doubt that many of the old tenants will return. Coffee Spot ( which had the first drip system coffee in Bangkok) was one of the originals, even though it had changed hands many times. Due to reopen as Amarin Gaysorn soon.
Bangkok malls are much more interesring then Singapore malls.
Is it possible to pay with the rabbit card at the food court ?
jeroen!! meat balls ikea style!!😝😝😝ciaoo
Does the food court have decent priced food outlets like Terminal 21, or just aimed at hi-so yuppies like the rest of the Em buildings?
It’s definitely not going to be Terminal 21 which is Thai food! These are all different shops that need to make money to pay their staff rent get an investment return! So it’ll be priced in the middle for the middle income earners!
Nice to see you briefly to say hi
By the way tomorrow at 7pm we have the meetup in Soi 11.
@@globaltravelmate sorry will be at another event that night
Quite a few foreigners working in Ikea? Saw a few in the video...
Finally a mall in downton Bangkok 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The More the better I need connecting Skywalks and they are the only one that builds decent ones
agreed@@Iceyfire12 skywalks are the way BKK should go to make it unique>. imagine if visitors and locals could traverse the city above the belching smoke and motorbikes on the sidewalks. they should leverage on this
@@hypnotechno I always been advocating for a Grand Skywalk Network however it has to be Sturdy Creative Different Connecting etc.
Next year, your longtime love is opening : ONE. Then Central Dusit.
Think I'll be moving back to soi 24 when I get back 😂
❤❤❤
❤😊😊
Just what we needed in the already busy area: another big mall!
Yesterday evening it was so quiet in the usually trendy (Instagramable) Benjakitti park, so I guess all the teenagers will now head to this new place and Benchasiri park (which was one of my favourite parks but this will obviously totally ruin the vibe of that once peaceful park) to make their Instagram photo's.
Really horrible if you ask me. I also feel bad for all the cats now in Benchasiri park (next to this IKEA mall) since I'm sure they will be used as props for all of those Instagram photos.
Bangkok is changing too much (in a bad way).
It’s a Necessity… it’s an additional Public space! I want them to Develop One more down the Line so it can Finally Connect Asok and Phrom Phong by Skywalk! Plus EmSphere is a Baby lol it just looks large! Now the EmDistrict is a Decent Size! They should’ve double the investment and actually bought Holiday Inn, the empty land behind INN, the Plot in front next to the park and the Culdesac behind it!!!
Benjakiti needs a Makeover Anyways!
"I went to the mall yesterday, and it was very crowded."
Exactly what BKK needs, yet another shopping mall!
w😮w😮w😮w👍👍👍👍
Your taste on condos are much better than food 😁Even my dog would have been starving for at least 3-4 days before eating meat balls from ikea 😉
Haha, you are 100% correct. That is why you will not see any food reviews on my channel. ;-)
😄
How is that a sphere.
This place used to be dinosaur planet
The new mall has annoyingly loud music blasting right now. It is not a fun experience. I would wait a few weeks for the crowds to die down and the night club music volume to tone down. The mall is not fully completed.
Alright... How many malls do we have in Bangkok now?
Good question! I am lost too!
According to Emporis, a leading database of building information, there are over 200 shopping malls in Bangkok!
The Decent Sized ones? Only a Few! If you consider Em District as one Mall, Central World, Icon Siam, (Siam Paragon w/ Center/Discovery), (Siam Square One/Centerpoint Siam Square), MBK, Samyan Mitr Town, Terminal 21x 2, Central Rama 9, Gaysorn, Central Embassy/Chidlom, The Street! About 13 Honestly Not Enough for me! I want more to connect the skywalks from Ekkamai to Siam!
i dont if malaysia n thailand are competing about mall..but the mall also open here in KL..its call TRX mall
What’s a luxury mall without an Apple Store? They need to talk to Apple quickly.
I may have missed it but I didn’t see any electronics stores in the new mall.
So they didn’t collaborate to have the Third Apple Store here? They should’ve made UOB Live a Sphere! Where is the Sphere I was hoping for 10 years 😂
i wonder if they did the maths on air conditioning and maintenance. I agree with you. I wanted this sphere too
and yes....where is the apple store
Apple Store will be here in the near future.
😊🇹🇭✌️🙏💚
the concrete ceiling so raw
agreed it did look a bit odd. Do you think they intend to keep it like that?
@@hypnotechno doesn’t look luxury , hahaha
condolences to the local Thai trade
This mall is 100% Thai own and built and operated with IKEA and other international breand as a clients. Many of shops here are still owned by local Thai s.
It’s way better than the MBK where most of the shops aren’t even Thai 😂! You feel like you went to South Asia!
🤫
Looks like Singapore. Probably Singaporean architects?
The Thai TH-camrs Call Em-Sphere Em Saaaaa Fia. hahahahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣
❌Wrong information about Siam Paragon and ICONSIAM.
meh ... I remember Washington Square
The outside seems ok, but the interior looks unfinished 😢
It’s the Crocrete Aesthetic😆 They did say this one isn’t a luxury mall but for the people! 😆
I think they opened earlier then expected to meet a deadline :-) How is the Ice treating you my friend?
It’s done intentionally as part of industrial-inspired design. Each tenant has their own finished ceiling as per designed
good intel. any news on a apple store?@@vonesuatra438
Just what Bangkok needs...another shopping mall... 🙄😏
2 days ago central Westville shopping mall opened, next year at least 3 more will open. So yes, there’s a demand for more shopping malls. It’s a city of 18 million people.
There is too many shopping malls in Bangkok. 97% of Thais does not buy much, just enjoying free AC and window shopping. I have no idea how all of these shopping malls makes the money to go around. I guess they do not have much maintenance costs and labor wages are low.
If Thai people don't have purchasing power, they probably won't build it. There are many more projects coming up. You don't think for anyone else.
That 97% figure is pulled out of your butt with extremely uneducated business sense. Most malls in Bangkok make billions of net profit every year and keep increasing. Do you think those owners of those malls are stupid like you?? Thai purchasing power is enough to maintain the business .
Really boring, I don’t know what I expected but after being in EM Quartier this EmSphere seems boring.
Well it’s 1/5th smaller than EmQuartier! Plus it’s not made to be a luxury mall but more of “ppls mall”
Another mall. Just what we need. What about parks? Bangkok is a city with the least square meters of green per person. And for those who think these malls are built by Thai construction workers, think again. They're all built by cheap labour from Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia. Their wages are below the official minimum wage of 367 baht per day.
This mall was in the works for a decade! Another Mall is another A/C Public Space … that promotes exercising…What don’t you understand! A city that is 365 days a Year hot and humid needs Malls! Plus BKK has more park space created in the last 9 yrs! Where are you going to add Parks??? Every space is accounted for! Though 2 parks are still in the works and need to mature after construction! Unless they make the RBSC a Park which would be nice! It would be the last place to build a Park in BKK! Hopefully they Enforce new Construction to have a Set Back front Yard to open up the city more!
