I am in the heart of Mall of America in Bloomington, Minnesota, USA and it's nothing compared to malls in Thailand. I am amazed at their malls. Loved traveling in Thailand. Can't wait to return!
Dear American, please don’t ruin Thailand with your 25% tips. Asians don’t make their money from overpriced tips. Pay what’s on the bill.
More tips, more service. Don't ruin the prize. It belongs to the people who work hard to serve you. Thai people also tip for excellent service.@@MEN101
Because I’m born and raised in America and America never had great scenery. We are talking about Asia for crying out loud the texture, sculpture and infrastructure is made out of real raw materials no replicas nothing fake. But plus Asia isn’t just solely based on consumption so no matter where u are in the continent of Asia keep in mind that there is so much great things that u can do and enjoy with spending little money or not spending any money at all.I don’t think a lot of western countries can compete with that because western countries is always about having a lot of money and spending a lot of money in order to get that quality of life🤔.
@@MEN101 True that!
@@MEN101what is the tipping rules please
I hope Phrom Phong doesn't get too crowded. I love that neighborhood.
The malls are modern and beautiful especially the newer ones… it will be even more beautiful if they upgrade the whole street and train stations along there to blend in with malls
There are so many nice malls in Bangkok, I don’t know how they can all survive, but they do.
The heat makes them survive. People prefer indoor during the day or even in the evening.
@@Neednoy2I guess that's true. It's public places to escape the heat.
@narumon_bb2376 from survive he means financially there are many malls competing
ถ้าพวกเค้าไม่มีกำลังซื้อพวกเค้าก็อยู่ไม่ได้หรอกอย่าประเมินประเทศอื่นค่ำไป@@Neednoy2
That’s awesome. I’ll be there in three days!! Staying in the Phrom Phong area so this will definitely be one of the first things I check out. Thanks for covering this Chris!
Wow !!Now Thailand has one more Swedish embassy.
😎👍I was there yesterday. Found some freshly roasted turkey in the gourmet market. Good find in Thailand. Amazing place!
Yay Alabama. It's where I was born and raised. Currently in Bangkok. My wife and I searched for the meatballs. Couldn't find them. They are going to have a beach club, bars and clubs on those upper floors of Emsphere.
Thailand does the best shopping malls. Astounding
BKK Malls put Western Malls to shame > not even fair to compare
Night shift workers! Used to love shopping at 4am - so peaceful!
As an ex grocery manager in the states for what I refer as the ‘death star’ grocery company Kroger, the reason they stay open 24 hours is because you get your delivery truck in at 9pm then stock & condition the shelves overnight. Since you have staff there, why not let those few oddball late night shoppers come in to get whatever they might need as well. All you really need is a cashier & someone to back up if things get busy.
Youre lucky to find an actual cashier at Kroger or walmart without some ghetto pple with a over flowing full cart full of free food already in line. So youll have to do it yourself in self check out.
@@michaelg6641I fill up my grocery cart full of food in the hundreds and pay with my Amex Card.
First night here my hotel receptionist told me about the new mall 😅Haven't been there yet but if it can beat Emquartier & Emporium I'll be impressed 💯
She said it's open until 3am so I don't think it's 24h like you mentioned
Another great vlog! Love your work. Keep em coming.
Thank you Chris for pointing out the lack of continuity of the skywalks with the up and downs and where there is an elevator ( no larger than to have 3-4 peeps in at anyone time 🤨).. I love it all none the less as in the West.. we don’t have anything that even remotely resembles Bangkok malls *quitely googles the next trip back to the BKK and beyond* 😉🙏🙏
🤣🤣 “sweatin his balls off” too funny my CEO .. keep bringing it and seasons greetings from the Westcoast of Canada to you and the ladies, Chris 🙏🙏
Skywalks are paid by the private sectors own money that want a connection to their building, not by the gov that is why you don’t see them continue all the way. However there are some section that was built by the gov, but these days the Bangkok administration mainly focus on pavements and new sidewalks.
@@cloudzero1547 thanks for this insight 🙏🙏
Chris, you make every place in Bangkok fun to watch and that’s a talent. Appreciated! 👍🏻
Great video! I walked thru the mall yesterday and totally missed all the classic cars on the 5th floor. Will head back to check it out. Thanks! Kevin from Toronto.
My wife and I already love watching your videos 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤watching from NYC 😊😊😊😊😊
Sushmita: hve bern to malls in different Continents BUT no where near whst Bangkok has to offer... it's mind-blowing to the highest-ranking 🎉❤ Love Thailand ❤ Stayed in Sukumvit Rd - visited all thosd malls except for 'Emisphere' longest in the whoke wide world 🌐
Every time I watch your vlog I seriously look at flights to Bangkok. Your videos are so informative and fun to watch. Thank you and Happy Holidays to everyone at RWFY!
😍HUGE MALL!!
🤩The decoration design is very cool, open spaces can pose a multitude of design!👍
😘The food and atmosphere are good too🤤😋
Thanks Chris for the visit of the new mall.
Another good video Chris. I arrive next wknd and will visit the Mall. Might even bump into you in the street again.
Thx. Chris you are very strong working hard. It is nice filming.
Still excited to see this new mall every time. It will be a few months before I can go to Bangkok.
I read online that The 5th floor of Emsphere will be exclusively Pubs and Bars.
Your big boss Lucas in Pattaya he want you back in the restaurant wash the dishes.
Who said internet shopping would kill retail stores!? I like to try my shoes on before I buy!
Can't wait to get over there have my flight booked for April 8th.
Yes there's heaps of vid of this mall. But you do it so well and better than all of them. Keep up the great work.
I've recently been to Bangkok, love it. Coming back nxt year.
really nice and detailed one! I like how you did the intro!
Pretty nice Chris! As alway's stay cool 😎 kind and generous!
Thank you, Chris. ,Great Video of Shopping in Bankok ❤❤❤❤
Excellent! My hotel is right there. I'll be doing exactly this in a week from now! Thanks for being a trailblazer!
OMG, you are hilarious!! 😂
Merry Christmas Chris thanks for video as Thai people, glad to see you happy in Thailand. Although some things are not perfect and need time for development, we Thai people try to do best for welcome everyone to the Land of Smiles.😊🙏 Sawatdee ka
I have to admit, the Thais do malls well. Ive been to the multiple malls in Pattaya, and there is no comparison to Canadian malls.
Malls in Canada are usually very boring, generic, and small.
rarely will you see a mall more than 2 stories tall, or decorated so nicely.
It's time to leave Canada!
Pattaya? There’s no comparison between Pattaya malls and Bangkok malls.
You also pay for the "decoration". The prices there remind me of something like Zurich/Switzerland. Absolutely crazy, not just for Bangkok
@marcopn1174
So Malls in Thailand are not that cheap? How much for a cup of coffee?
This is why I would prefer to live in Bangkok rather than Pattaya. More to do. More to see.
Better avoiding both
Would you recommend Bangkok for a family with teenagers? I need to leave the EUSSR before they drain my account with even more taxes!
I avoid the whole country.🤣
Pattaya has a beach ⛱️ 😎
I did spend some days in Ari this November . Very special you should do a vid about this neighberhood
Great video I will be there in a few days to take a look at that place
Thanks This The Best Asia Channel & My Great Car Channel From Finland !
Can't wait to check this mall out.
Love it. I was on that Skywalk yesterday! I too wonder why they don't continue and also bypass the bts stops so u can walk forever.
That would be for the Private Sector to Develop! Since it’s Costly They did it like this! Though they Should’ve built the Skywalk the Entire Length of the Building!
If there was some type of encouragement for the Private Sector to Build the Skywalk then they probably Would’ve!
Also if the City built the Skywalk is would be the Same Plain Skywalk Everywhere!
Thanks Chris!
Love the videos. We actually just got a urban ikea in Copenhagen :)
Thumbs up 👍 Chris….we just need a few more and we’re go to go 😎
Thanks Chris.
Chris, you have me cracking up during every episode. It’s a wonder a tv show hasn’t snatched you up and made you a game show host yet.
i like the way you speak! very understandable ! Best regards from a French guy in Ibiza!
Fascinating. Looks like I have a new mall to hag out in besides G Tower!
Who hangs out in G Tower 😂😂😂
Thank you 👍🏽
Yes! IKEA! Love that place for organization!
Clearly a shopping paradise!
GREAT VIDEO and great personality (this my first time watching one of your vids)...Bangkok shopping culture was already over the top prior to this as referenced to that stats, and you didn't even mention Iconsiam....or all the other "community malls". A presence of malls is like the presence of a grocery store in USA. I just love how their mall approach. In USA we think a mall should only contain certain things, but in Thailand, virtually everything you would need or want in a mall, build up and organize it by floor.
I got fed this video I guess because I'm coming over there a week or so ago. A friend mentioned the mall to me but he didn't really sell it hard so I didn't think nothing of it. I love Siam Paragon and was planning to be there often, but now seeing this, I can't wait to see the bakery options. Thailand's bakery game is all world IMO, ESPECIALLY if you like dairy and options that depend less on lots of sugar.
Thanks mate...👍
I was there on Christmas day. It is huge, and beautiful with unique spaces.
Chris, you are the best and the funniest…😂
Let’s not forget Icon Siam mall across the river as well
Makes sense. Bangkok is the most visited city on earth. Lots of rich people ready to spend money and escape the heat.
I agree I think the skywalk needs to extend and connect to the others. I love walking in Bangkok especially on the skywalk.
The heat, that was my conclusion. Shopping malls are dying in North America, but malls will never die in SE Asia, because of the heat. Homes are small, multi generational and people need somewhere else to go.
I was just there at that mall as we were staying in the same area. It was painful to get to the store I wanted to get to as the directories were vague. I was looking for a suitcase and was told they were on every floor. I looked and looked and never found one despite seeing a guy with one the day before who said he bought it in the 4th floor. Anyway, I found a suitcase off the street and the Chatuchak market the next day. It was an overwhelming mall IMHO.
Always interesting...👍🇨🇦👍
I want to see your video but I am also going there next year so I still want to be surprised when I visit that mall haha.
Hi Chris!!
FYI The skywalk straight directly to the Emsphere was built by the shopping mall. It has nothing to do with BKK authority. I think you are capable of walking along the foodpath on the road. I understand you want to be pampered with skywalk. 😂😂😂
2:53 Surprised to see Pala have a booth there. One of the best places to eat in Bangkok doesn't need any more promotion. It's always packed there.
I'm in here now. It's quite nice.
EM-quartier EM-poria EM-sphere, they're all owned by the same company right?
It may also be a way of pre-emptively "buying out the competition", by fully oversaturating the local area with your own malls.
New Luxury mall in Bangkok 😊👍🎊🎉
Your voice goes well with your shirt ..good job..
I went a couple of days ago and agree with your overall assessment that its "ok". There are not many shops. Its mostly food. I think the other 2 beat it hands down with the shops. The only other Ikea I have been too thats in the city was in Tokyo, it was a lot smaller than the one in Emsphere. I am sure NYC must have one too?
There is one in Stockholm.
There is also Siam Discovery, Siam Scap, Central Siam, Central Dusit. Chamchuri Square One Bangkok and Samyan Mitrtown
Nice mall
Great tour of Bangkok’s newest mall! I was there about two weeks ago and it hadn’t quite opened so it’ll have to wait till my next visit. Just a heads up……..the new Bangkok IKEA is not the first URBAN store in the World. I’ve visited urban IKEAs in Taipei and Hong Kong. There could be more., but each of them is subterranean, smaller and somewhat claustrophobic with low ceiling heights so not as impressive as the suburban IKEAS I’ve seen in North America.
Safety, convenience and affordable. Would love to see videos on a 4 star hotel close to a shopping mall and BTS skytrain.
As a swede, 15:40 damn that's really stingy on the mashed potatoes for the price. Potatoes cost nothing.
That entire meal "should" cost 100 baht at most. It's the "exotic food tax" but reversed for Asia.
And yes, the main problem with most of Swedish ikea (or microwave) food is that it's made so bland that the old retired farts who've never travelled the world, in Sweden, can eat it without complaining about it being "too salty" or "too spicy". So it ends up being very bland.
REAL home made meatballs (and mashed poatoes) here are made with lots of pepper, sometimes cayenne, parsely or basil mixed in.
But its nice to see an Ikea downtown, it's all about convenience.
That is a ton of food for 180 baht. Not sure what you're talking about.
@@kayflip2233 You can't be serious.
Hej Retired in Bangkok working for you.
You came pretty close. The name is Lingonsylt (lingonberry jam).
Have to say the pricing of their meatball meal caught my attention - 180 THB seems a bit steep compared to what you'd pay in Sweden, typically around 160-165 THB. This is particularly striking given Sweden's 25% sales tax and generally higher price levels.
The fact that the meal didn't taste as good as you remembered it wasn't a big surprise. (It happens from time to time in some countries that lack our traditions.) If you don't know how a really good one tastes you really don't react to the lame or bad ones.
Anyway, that aside. Discovering IKEA in such an unexpected place was a pleasant surprise for an old Swede like me. It's a little piece of Sweden that could be a comforting reminder of home for me whenever I miss it./ Cheers mate or Hej då (as we say in Sweden)
180 baht to 160 baht is not that big a difference in price so what are you complaining about.
@@grahamjohnson4702 Mate. First of all. The complaining seems to come from you. My comment was about my surprise, nothing else.
If you want to take it as complaining it was towards the prices (generally speaking) in Sweden.
I don't know if you're a Swede or not but if you are, you really should understand the context. Heck even if you're not I explained it in my comment, right?!
Sweden is REALLY expansive. To see a higher price in Thailand is kinda funny. (That is where people from Sweden go to feel really rich as everything, especially the food is dirt cheap.)
Also. Learn to compare the prices without the sails tax. The price in Sweden without that one is only around 125 THB.
Still, it wasn't a huge sum, and that was also something I stated in my comment, right?! (My point was - How funny/strange tit was o see the price in a cheap country like Thailand could be more expensive than the one in one of the most expensive countries. world.
So right back to you mate. What are you really whining about?! 😉
@@ExbotHero I fail to see how you can accuse me of complaining nowhere did I make a complaint and the food tax in Sweden is only 12% so not a great amount. Yes prices are higher in Sweden but then the wages are also greater so don't affect Swedes as much as foreigner's but Thailand does have a food tax of 7% so only 5% difference. The fact that the meatballs cost more is because of the high import duty on imported goods and Thailand needs to import meat. This probably shows up more with alcohol being much more expensive than at home in most of the world, exceptions are Norway and Sweden. And if you read your comment you didn't say it wasn't a huge sum you said it was a bit steep, so before you come back next time make sure you know what you said and I said
@@grahamjohnson4702 Sorry mate, you still doesnt get the point. Sweden is generally considered to be one of the most expensive countries in the world, Thailand one on the oposite scale.
I also got to see the importance of import duty when it comes to the meat in meatballs. You do know that they have meat in Thailand too, right?!
IKEA NEVER imports meat, they buy it locally. (If they import anything it's because that makes it cheaper, not the other way around. (Trust me, I had a company that sold products to IKEA for 40 years.) I know their business model.
You can play around with the numbers all you want but let's be honest. Surly It is kinda funny that a meal happened to be cheaper in Sweden than it is in Thailand.
With that said. I'm willing to help you make your point. (At least a part of it anyway.)
It would have been way more effective if you would have added. "That is not a big difference, at least not If you take into consideration that it's located in one of the most expensive districts In Bangkok". (Everything isn't cheap just because it is in Thailand, right?!)
That argument would have focused this "debate" on the real issue. (I can be surprised for sure, but if I look at the situation at hand, it shouldn't be that surprising.
You didn't instead you misunderstood it all as complaining on my part, right?! Anyway, it is what it is. / Cheers mate.
@@ExbotHero It's funny how when somebody always wants to strengthen their argument that they always had some connection with who or what they are arguing about but cannot verify it. So with that statement I will close my side of this argument. Merry Christmas.
We went on the day after opening day on Saturday the 2nd. There was so much going on it was hard to take in.
90 minute wait to get In IKEA, boy band with 70 screaming teenagers, people walking round playing instruments.
It was like a premier for a block buster film in LA.
The ground floor with the food stores had so much variety, the super cars on the 4th floor are spectacular, and all in all it is a sensory extravaganza.
come back later when things slow down :)
I am kinda like Chris not a mall guy, but in the Thai context I understand them as cooling/social centers
I am from SE Asia, and lived in Texas since 3yrs old, I would like to retire in Thailand one day, just need to decide whether I will make that change. I hear you Alabama man!

Hello I love u youtube channel 🙏 Why so many malls? it allows us to give value to all the condominiums in the area, it’s like putting a 7eleven in the countryside ,
Hi! We like your videos, very informative! We are currently renting an apartment close to MRT Petchaburi station. We, me and my parents hold a Canadian visa. We wanted to apply for a visa extension for the second time. Is there going to be a problem? We read conflicting data online.
Thanks for the help in advance!
Im flying off there Saturdayy .....weeeeeeee
I'm Thai. Just for your information, most skywalk that linked to malls were paid/invested by those malls itself not the Bangkok governor. If anything that has "Green elephant with round shape badge" that's done by Bangkok governor.
@13:18 you scared me! I thought I had a stuck pixel in the middle of my monitor :)
I will take a Rolls Royce please Chris. Not sure why they sell such expensive cars in Malls, ICONSIAM and EmSphere. Great video.
Aha, I knew it! IKEA! Seen frequent IKEA furniture in condo videos. @14:39 I have that very same couch.
i like your vdo
good for hot hot weather
There is also an Ikea at Mega Bang Na Mall.
By the way we realized Siam Central World is the largest mall in Bangkok, but including each and Future Park Mall, what is your rating on the rest of the malls.
In shopping mall design, the Gruen transfer (also known as the Gruen effect) is the moment when consumers enter a shopping mall or store and, surrounded by an intentionally confusing layout, lose track of their original intentions, making them more susceptible to making impulse buys.
Hi dad, if you're watching this from Thailand. Miss you and love you❤
That UOB Love. Sounds like it's run by the Singapore UOB banking group. I've sent a lot of their bank branches in Bangkok
I bet CB Media would like to take a look on the 5th floor. Not many reviews for Damn Yankees Steak on Google Maps, but they are good reviews.
Mr. Parker, there is an urban IKEA in Toronto and Yonge and College
Merry xmas Happy new year Chris Haylee,,see you in 2024 first LEO on me
