Tekken 8 would be the clear winner if the stages didn't have such outdated lighting design, the characters "glow" too much artificially and not a problem seen in MK1. Even Tekken 6, a PS3 title does character lighting on stages better than Tekken 8 does.

Tekken 8 character faces are static, they do not animate, while MK1s do. Just look at Liu Kang and Hwoarangs range in emotions, breathing and body language. Character models in MK1 look great, detailed and lighting looks better implemented. Tekken 8 has great models too, but the lighting makes them look unatural. Some Tekken models are wierd. Like Steve and Feng face do not look like they're supposed to. Like they're injecting botox into their faces. Also it has to be pointed out that MK1 runs on UE4 while Tekken 8 runs on UE5. Both games look great all in all, but Tekken doesn't fully utilise its potential, mainly because of lighting capabilities that UE5 offers. One thing that had struck me in MK games: why do NRS change their poses and animations in EVERY NEW GAME??? It sounds like too much of hassle for the animators, no other fighting games do those changes so abruptly and sudden as NRS does I think
Meanwhile Namco is recycling animations from Tekken 1 & Tekken 4 If one of them doing things wrong, it's Tekken, each entry feels like a semi new & semi old game while in MK it's a completely new game
MK1 graphics are so much better than T8. MK1 keeps the realism of MK while also being artistic at the same time to match Liu Kang's new timeline. T8 just has the same graphics that it always has but with higher fidelity and that's it. Also animations look so much better in MK1, T8 just recycle the same animations since T3.
Tekken 8 graphics has been upgraded a lot compare to the previous Tekken games but Tekken 8 art direction doesn't aim for realistic graphics like MK1. As for the animation of Tekken 8, I guess Bandai Namco just wants to make the game consistently faithful to the whole Tekken series.
Even though each MK games may be inconsistent to one another but the inconstancy of MK shows how much creativity and improvements Ed Boon along with his team willing to put into newer MK games
@@Chiayiklin Tekken animations are not about consistency in a good way, it is about making the game feel like a legacy game at any cost even if it's not good for the game. Tekken 8 have very unrealistic faces... but that's why we as humans like it. The bigger eyes and longer faces means that we can see their facial emotions clearer. Human beings are visual creatures and the easier we can see others, the better we can read their feelings of hurt, joy and sadness
I wouldn't compare both games animations as they have different fighting game approach, MK1 is a 2D-style fast paced while tekken is an arena fighting game(means the movement is 3d).
MK is definitely better. In Tekken, many of the characters are unevenly designed, making this title difficult to play. And in MK you actually feel that you are dealing with fighters, not models with barbie faces. This annoys me in Tekken because it takes away from the seriousness of the genre. Tekken should definitely go for a more serious style with a bit of subtle humor. Just compare the character design of Lidi, Reina with, for example, Lili, Azucena. I'm sorry, but I can't stand these annoying characters. They should definitely improve the character of the individual characters. Give these characters a little more serious character and improve the plot.
People have to realise that both games have different art direction and aesthetics. Tekken is arcadish realism while mk is just..realism. I still think t8 looks better though

Characters were a lot better in Tekken 5 or tag 2 rather than 7-8. It's not a matter of graphic (which is obviously better in 8), but facial features, expressions and bodies. Female faces in T8 look all almost identical. All faces in general are too much unexpressive and some body is weird (I don't like Paul and Marshall here). TT2 was the peak of facial animations for tekken, while T5 had the best character design, with characteristic faces and bodies
@@hurricane7727 T4 was very good too. T5 took the best designs from T4 (like Jin Kazama and that awesome Kazuya). Skin shading and hair are a step back in Tekken... Same reason why noctis felt different from the rest of the characters in Tekken 7... That's bad man. Could use less alpha particle effects if the characters could be more realistic.
Tekken characters are slightly better looking and the distinct fighting styles are an advantage. However, the story is garbage in Tekken. Much more interesting in mk1. Also, the R-rating in mk makes all scenes and wins morw impact ful. Compare this to Tekken where Jin beats Kazuya and a second later, Kazuya jumps with another super powerful move and... another fight.
