as a saxist(no pun intended) I can tell you she isn't supposed to puff her cheeks out, but some great sax players do tend do puff there cheeks it's not that common since puffing your cheeks doesn't give as good a sound as without puffing but you can still play very nicely both ways.
mono 1214 as a fellow saxophone player, I agree that she shouldn't be puffing her cheeks out because it does not create a good sound. But in this situation, with this type of genre for a song, this style of playing is most appropriate. But I also agree with you, that this playing style (especially hers) is very nice

Ahhh stop being so jealous!! Her saxophone playing is great. She has a lot of soul, and yes she puffs out her cheeks, I tend to do that on clarinet because it's easier for me. A lot of musicians have different ways to play as it is unique. All that matters for music of all kinds is the mood to be conveyed. I think Laura does this perfectly and you can tell she's into the music, that's what it's all about.

No. It snapped about 2mm off the end.. Because the Dentist used an Acrylic "temporary" crown it kept coming loose. Then I got braces, which involved removal of four Bicuspid teeth. Totally changed my Embroshure (sp). By the time I was in my 20s and had a REAL crown done it had been too long since I had played. I can still play, just not sight-read.

This might coz her cheek muscles to weaken over time and ending up with wrinkles. Idk if other jazz saxophonists do this but seems likes she's putting too much effort blowing that thing, maybe a better saxophone will help.

To everyone here: She has a great tone. She has an amazing growl. She has great technique abilities. You can tell she's good. But...yes to people who say its a basic solo. It is totally basic, there's no altercation to it, its playing a base I IV and V chord over and over again (basically what pop music is). Its a super basic solo and it really doesn't give much insight on how she truly is as a player. Yes I play saxophone

I don't play the Saxophone but I typically prefer the alto despite my genre preference generally being more suited to the tenor. I just like the alto because I think it's size is better. I've always imagined it to be a closer in size and range to the trumpet. Maybe a bit deeper, and I prefer the alto's lower range, but I do prefer the alto because I like it's bright sound, which I prefer over the warm and mellow sound of the tenor.
