This one was more than I should have paid. But with a surprise. Kato GP35 Trains with Shane Ep89

- Not going to lie. I only bought this thing because it was a Kato and will probably run and because it's a demo unit. But I think it's a custom painted unit that while looks to have been painted decently enough, looks to have been done a long time ago because now it looks rougher than a stucco bathtub. Not even sure if this is a GP35. It might just be a GP40 without dynamic brakes, lol. But it's here so let's see if it runs.
The saving grace is it came with what I think is an American Z-Scale locomotive. Which I also hope runs.

Nice running engnie. I love older Kato models!
Thanks, Dan! Kato really set a high standard early on. And after a certain point their units hold up amazingly no matter how old they are as long as they were even the least bit well maintained.
Nice haul Shane! ATSF 671 is a Dash 9W! Love that GP35 as well!!
Thanks Pat!
@@Trains-With-Shane oh you bet!
Kato locos are almost always remarkable performers. This one is no different. 😊👍👍
True. but like I always say. Nothing is immune to poor maintenance.
@@Trains-With-Shane definitely. But the Katos seem to be somewhat more resistant. I’m not sure why. But they rarely need wheel cleaning compared to others. Some kind of conductive magic!! 😊
That one ran silk smooth, Shane.
Thanks Joey. I was surprised that it ran so well.
Hope your day went better ❤
Work has been a real drain lately. And there have been ups and downs otherwise as well. Seems like one step forward, two steps back lately. But. still pushing ahead because it's all I know how to do.
well Shane you did it again thanks for you and your videos
Made a questionable purchase? lol yes, yes i did. It's a reoccurring theme. Thanks for stopping by!
Nice review of that gp35 right there! Runs really good!
I was almost sure that the wheels might need a little polish but I was pleasantly surprised.

I don't usually pay a large amount of attention to prototype accuracy. But it's not outside the realm of possibility that one could end up having been painted like this. I've got a picture somewhere where some road painted either a GP7 or GP9 up into this late scheme. When the old GP prototypes were either two tone red-orangish or blue and silver. But I really like the blue-white EMD demo scheme
