      Yes, but its really the weakest link in the IPX6 rating...
      Even if it doesn't kill the phone I find there is a presure leak that can allow moisture to build up.
      My old 5II had fogging lenses on the back camera, servicing just broke the seal further.
      And my few months old 1III gets condensation under the display when something cold touches it, but it has to be really clean to be seen.
      I miss my Z3 with a magnetic charger and properly carefree sealed ports...

    That headphone jack was unexpectedly easy to remove, I thought it would have been stuck in place like in the old Xperia Zs, or lined with a gasket like the charging port, for water resistance.

    Hi there, I own this phone for almost two years now and very happy with it. Two days ago thought I received a software update from SONY through the software updates notifications and as always applied the latest update, rebooted and phone was working fine for more or less 24 hours. then as I was reading some articles on google news the screen went black and the phone looked switched off. I pressed the power button and the phone powered up showing the SONY logo, and then the android boot up video, (never asked for the unlock of the sim card) asked for the android unlock number sequence and completed the boot up sequence. This had never happened before in the two years that I own this phone. So I ignored the event and continued to read the article that had left unread. 3 mins later it happened again, and I followed the same process. The phone powered up again and seemed to work fine, until five minutes later that did exactly the same thing. This time though when you press the power button the top light flashes green and the phone vibrates once, but nothing happens. if you continue to press the power button after a while it vibrates three times and flashing light goes off. As I have a lot of data on this phone which I would like not to loose, is there anything you can advice me to do?
    ( Tried entering recovery mode, does not respond, connection to computer, does not respond, connection to power supply, starts charging for two seconds and then vibrates once, and after five seconds vibrates three times, and continuously repeats this cycle).
    Thanking you in advance.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, hmm the only thing I can think of is trying a different battery to see if by chance it might be a faulty battery. Aside from that, if the software is corrupt, you are pretty much out of luck. Since you might be able to reflash the stock software on it but would wipe your data regardless.

    Hello! This disassembly video is awesome. Had a quick question about some troubleshooting. I used the steps in the video to replace the battery and on the initial boot after replacement the phone turned on no problem. After checking the functions on the phone, I powered it off because I noticed I messed up in reseating the charging port. I adjusted the port but now the phone refuses to turn on and constantly boot loops. Any ideas as to why this would happen and if it's fixable? If my phone is now bricked then I'll have to live with that but just looking for an answer as to what went wrong

    Do you think the 5 iii internals is going to be the same thing as the 1 iii, just shrunk down?, including the shrinking of those antenna parts? like, would there be reason to believe that the 1 iii should give a stronger connection than the 5 iii?

      I feel sony should either partner with another company to make a budget friendly line, or they themselves change up their smartphone division and make some changes. Especially when it comes to replacement parts and so forth. Its hard to find replacement parts for sony phones. I like the sony phones, but the thin design they have I feel limits it, plus they always push their cameras so much that they lack on other things. The cooling on the phone for example, when I look at it, makes me feel like I am looking at a phone from 2015. No special cooling, just basic. I haven't noticed any overheating but still would be nice to see some better cooling system implemented.

    Hi was wondering how likely it would be if my phone dropped and basically just the finish got scraped off that the water proofing would be compromised. It was a corner against a basement tile floor so it was a pretty solid surface that it hit. The aluminum doesn’t seem dented but it does seem like the glass has a slight separation from the frame compared to the other side

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      hmm as long as its not cracked, I wouldn't worry too much but if there is enough separation, then it might be possible the adhesive might get compromised as well allowing water to get in.

    • @zolavib1187
      @zolavib1187 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PBKreviews I can't even tell if there is separation even when using zoom with my old phone. It looks different from the other side where the glass meets the frame it doesn't seem as flush. But it's so slight that most people would think I'm nuts. I'm trying to get Amazon to pay for it since I bought the phone from them and they delayed the case among many other orders the past couple of months. I'm positive this is a tactic to manipulate people into prime accounts. Funny thing is I ordered something today and at checkout there was a message saying we're giving you the opportunity to become a prime member. I had two different orders simultaneously delayed that then ended up at the next shipment center with a 4 hr difference. This leads me to believe they were transported separately. And I find it highly unlikely they both ran into the same issue. And even more unlikely the were both coincidentally delayed simultaneously for different reasons. They also never had any shipping history before they were delayed meaning they didn't leave the origin point before the delay. I also caved and got a prime account which is funny because I ordered all this stuff the past two months and I probably won't need to order anything for a while.

Thank You.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you can, but just make sure you don't use a thermal paste that is highly conductive since if it leaks to other chips or components, it can short it. Also you can apply a bit to the top of the processor itself, and some on top of the metal shield covering the processor so it transfers heat to the midframe efficiently. You don't need to put a lot, just a little bit since it will get pressed down and spread a little once you assemble it.

    Why your screen has a glass screen protector? Usually the phones on the tear down table does not have anything attached to them.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The phone was being used, so I left the protector on there so the screen would not be scratched if moved around on the surface of the table during the disassembly.

    I can't get the glass back to loosen no matter how long I apply heat with a dryer. The plastic tools break down but the back glass doesn't move at all. How did he do it?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  ปีที่แล้ว

      shouldn't be too hard on this phone. The adhesive isn't that strong. Use a hair dryer to heat up the back for 30 seconds to a minutes by moving it gently around all parts of the back and if you have a suction cup tool, you can use that to help pull up on the back at one side or corner to give you leverage to get a pry tool in between the back and frame and then run it along the sides to pry it off.

    Removing the whole speaker assembly just to get to the screen flex is such a chore for one of the most frequent repairs. The Xperia Z2 from 2014 is more or less like this, so it seems like things have not changed that much in 7 years.

      Sony is a bit notorious about having smartphones that overheat when recording video. Thankfully not thermal shutdown hot, but it might stop recording on a hot day. I’ve also read the phones are smart enough to keep the battery cool when plugged into external power, since it doesn’t have to discharge the battery the temperate stays low. Would have to dig around for a source tho, I don’t own the phone (yet!)

      I had the video Pro app shut down due to heat on the first day I owned it on a summer day indoors in the UK. The phone is not optimized for extended periods where the 888 has to run full chat on all cores. I suspect the Pro-I borrows from the Pro in terms of better thermal management. Still, the phone works great for daily usage.

      We can not say that it does not have, in the Xperia Pro the vapor chamber is between the screen and the chassis of the device, is not visible just removing the components by the rear, I hope very much that has, but we have to wait for someone to do that, probably Jerryrigeverything do as it did on the Xperia Pro, which is a device equipped with Snapdragon 865 and has so far the largest vapor chamber we have ever seen on a smartphone , including greater than ROG 5... it is not possible that Sony has let this detail, I saw a video where during charging it was only 2° above the ultra S21, ie the probability of having something to cool is high pq the device would heat up much more if it had nothing
