    if i volunteer to help a friend I'm doing more for the spending time with him than the work or whatever it is, now if he asks me for help, i might take money, it depends. like i helped a buddy every day after work for week on his car, because i was excited for him and wanted to help get it going faster for him, not because i want money out of hm, or a favor. thanks for the video, i appreciate you.

    I love watching what u come up with when building things I run demolition derbies which requires me to build a 4 point cage with a halo bar we call it (bar put rear door windows and across the roof) and I find that square or rectangle tubing is much stronger then round i tell ppl that emagine bending a paper towel roll soon as it starts to bend u lose any strength so I ALWAYS use square tubing

    Dyno Test... I have always wondered if adding an additional sprocket for chain tensioning showes any appreciable decrease in output. Another one is when people use two sprockets to redirect the path of the chain. That has to have an affect on output.

    When are the mounts going to be available?

  • @fm9572
    @fm9572 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    @RedBeardsGarage, have you ever considered building a flywheel and engine mount kit for the #Duromax 999cc to an OG VW Beetle transaxle? The first 1100cc German units were 26hp, by the time they were importing them to the USA with a 1200cc engine, it was 36hp and the 1300 was around 40hp. A stock or mild build Duromax would easily be able to swap, and no one would know unless you showed them.

    • @RedBeardsGarage
      @RedBeardsGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I need to look into that. I have never messed with any VW stuff.

    • @fm9572
      @fm9572 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RedBeardsGarage the transaxle bellhousing has 4 bolts in a circle pattern, and lightened "8 dowel pin" flywheels are available (along with racing clutches). It's just a matter of fabbing the flywheel adapter, possibly involving shortening the engine output shaft, maybe, and a couple of engine to crossmember plates you can cut pretty easily.
      Compared to the "engineers" in other countries doing similar swaps with angle grinders and hand drills on youtube, I think it would be a piece of cake for you.
      Anyway, I love your channel man. Keep up the great work.

    • @RedBeardsGarage

    I never realized you could mount the driven clutch component either way on the shaft.

    • @atvtheory3151
      @atvtheory3151 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can't mount the driven clutch either way. This is a 780 clutch and the driven is mounted the correct way in this build. Only the Model 30 should be mounted with the spring-side facing outwards. The Model 30 is an asymmetric clutch and is designed to be a "Torque-a-verter add-on to minibikes and other devices using a clutch. The model 40 and above are designed to run with the spring-side inwards. Yes, I know. You see the Model 40 mounted spring-side out with the Go Powersports kit, but that's incorrect. The configuration causes the belt to move inwards on the driver clutch and outwards on the driven clutch and will cause premature failure of the belt.

      @@RedBeardsGarage that's kinda my thought as well. I'm using a 670 and the same diff you are as well as a live axle. Keep up the great work, your videos make it so much easier for us weekend warriors.

  • @hargray2
    @hargray2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    You at least doubled, if not tripled the HP handling capability of that diff by mounting it solid like that.

    • @butchs.4239
      @butchs.4239 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The question is how strong is the diff case. I have one of the old Comet reverse boxes and they were designed with a long enough input shaft so you could support the end of it with a pillow block. An unsupported shaft isn't necessarily a bad thing, but that means the case alone has to handle the loads being fed into it and if you overdo it you can break the case. It'll be interesting to see how this diff holds up as there's not a lot of options for reverse boxes, especially once you're looking for something for big block or v twin engines.
