    Recently bought a Saturn Sky Red line with a manual transmission. Too fun to drive.

    I have a Green & Tan Redline. I went with the GMPP performance update and K&N performance update. A little more tweaking and now am running 0 to 60 in about 4.5

      @@thesalvadorfamily5728 . Years ago selected GM dealerships had authorize trained technicians installed the GMPP performance updated to the Pontiac Solstice & Saturn Sky models . This modification was warranted for 12 months/ 12,000 miles . At the time their was three different performance options. I settle for the middle option. I also had the dealership install the K&N performance filter installed. I think there was like only three authorized dealerships in the entire state that could do the update then. I don’t know who does it now. It didn’t void any emission standards at the time. There are other companies now that do it . Just make sure they are reputable and warranty their work.

    With the manual sky, I could really use the extra boost in 3rd gear. First gear already burns the tires off. Second gear only takes you to 55 mph before you need to go into third, and that does not take very long at all. 3 and 4, with the extra 8 lbs of boost would really show itself on a 1/4 mile track, or longer, I would expect. but in town, not so much. FYI, my fenders are aftermarket glass, by Norm's fiberglass, and are very light, yet very strong. I also replaced my suspension with BC Racing coil overs, they sell a kit for the redline, and it's very adjustable

    Thanks for the video. So basically you're saying you were 5.81 stock, 5.75 tuned? That's a nice time but not much of a difference. Car and Driver got 5.6 but that was with a manual (of course newer automatics are faster than manuals...though I wouldn't say that for the Solstice as it's not a real fast auto compared to a 7 or 8 speed, etc.).

    The fenders are fiberglass? Or are they aftermarket ? Mine solstice had metal fenders

    • @BentOaksGarage

      I currently own both, the solstice is forsale but I really enjoy the saturn better. I agree, I would much prefer a manual transmission. And yes, the fenders are fiberglass. The body shop I went to charged 500 for fiberglass work and repaint.

    A lot more enjoyable with the 5-speed manual imo, but I also never drove an auto, loved and dearly miss my 07 Solstice GXP. Had a tune and few bolt ons but only made 260 wheel. The Sky is definitely better looking then the solstice, it I like the Sol’s interior

    Octane boosters are a waste of money they do not work it says it jumps it up 7 points it's it's actually . 7 you would need a lot of bottles for it to raise it up just one point better off using e85 mixed with either 91 or 93 if you use a quarter tank e85 and 3/4 of a tank of either 91 or 93 it'll be fine to use with stock fuel pump and injectors and all that stuff that's the only way you'll get the ethanol number to bump up enough to keep it from pre detonating which is the only reason why you would need a higher octane

      This specific car is in absolutely mint condition now. I'd hate to rip out a great LNF engine to do that swap. However, I did just buy the cheapest Solstice on the internet out of a farmers back yard. It started once and I drove it, but has never started again. That would make for a GREAT LS swap. I just so happen to have a spare LS engine laying around, its not the infamous seven liter LS7, it more like a 5.3l LS. But they can handle a ton of boost from the factory!

      The Plus. It allowed me to send them a file of my car running afterwords and had them re-tweak the tune.

    What RPM is it shifting at for the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts?

    • @BentOaksGarage

      Exactly 6k RPM's every shift. I actually took footage of it but did not include that in this video.

      @@BentOaksGarage My Trifecta tuned auto GXP likes to shift 1-2 at 5800. Not sure if it's leaving power on the table by shifting so early. RPM Motorsports advertises auto shift points at 6500 with their tune.

    • @BentOaksGarage
      @BentOaksGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ripbrazengxp4463 that's a good question. What have you done to yours already? The trifecta one I got was the middle price point amd not the base. But once I go all out I will need to upgrade to their pro tune.

      @@BentOaksGarage Only tune and tires so far. I was ready to throw handfuls of money at RPM for their charge pipes, their tune, and the Bosch sensors but they don't seem to answer their email. I did the budget Trifecta and it's definitely quicker than stock but I think it's a bit conservative.

    • @BentOaksGarage
      @BentOaksGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ripbrazengxp4463 from all my research, charge pipes is strictly a marketing ploy, dyno results are exactly the same as the factory ones. So RPM is mandating it just to get extra income out of us. Just a heads up.

    • @BentOaksGarage
      @BentOaksGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did the Trifecta Advantage Plus tune, cost $549 then you have to purchase the cable to connect the computer to the OBD2 port which is an additional $120. The 3 bar MAP sensors kit (www.rpm-motorsports.com/store/p239/GM-LNF-3BAR-SENSOR-UPGRADE-KIT.html) cost $129. So I ended up spending around $800 bucks for this video.
