      It's not secret though. He explained the basic principles of everything and gave a very clear example in human dynamic. Nothing more, nothing less. Taiji learns this aspect, well... many years of it until you're a master of taiji (yin and yang)
      For example, try pushing a car (neutral gear), don't tension your body. If you don't spiral down to ground to make that one connection, don't even hope to push the car and make it move.

    The most cogent explanation and demonstration of Fa Jin I have seen. I was fortunate to have studied with Sifu Fong Ha for many years in San Francisco.-12 hours per week in class + my own daily practice. For advanced students-this demonstration is priceless. It takes diligent practice to achieve this level of execution. Situ Fong Ha was a Master of Fa Jin with effortless explosive power .

    Very well explained by the Sifu. Everything is UFC and MMA these days that it’s nice to see such truly ancient knowledge being taught and passed on. Obviously there are frauds out there who claim to know such secrets and charge fees for instruction but it’s clear than Sifu has a deep connection to ying and yang and knows deeply how such equal yet opposing forces work within Tai Chi. Fascinating video as always.

      Your kind "evolutionary" mindset is working against you, guys. The MMA boom is getting "old". Many people are looking towards more traditional martial arts because they (we) are tired of the same poor kick boxing + wrestling stuff and the whole spectacle narcissistic hype. Many people are looking for what the MMA combat sports lost in the way. To me that is improving, not "going backwards".

But some key points my sifu keep repeating but as a student you cannot understand them until you practise them to success. relaxation (breathing and no muscle tention), rooting (energy coming at you to the ground and being send back), intent (force going forward) thanks for this video with this Master Lin Kuancheng on this topic.

    14:30 confirms this is real to me. When the arms are that close to body, it is almost impossible to push in that position as your room for leverage is compromised therefore the force must be coming from another source outside of his arms. once again a fantastic interview by the martial man, keep up the good work.

    I always find it frustrating when people post comments declaring something like this fake. These are demonstrations of the martial art's foundation principles, not the art itself. This sifu does not teach students how to sit in a chair and send four people flying with no apparent effort. He is teaching students how to access more power by applying certain techniques rather than just athleticicm and brute force. Once you understand that this man is teaching biophysics, you can quickly see that it isn't "fake" -- it's literally laws of force and motion being applied to self defense situations. It only sounds mystical to you because you perceive that he is trying to claim some kind of otherworldly power... but he's not, he's just using traditional terms to reference various aspects instead of throwing formulas at you (because he didn't learn this as science; he learned it as art).
    I have seen principles like this applied to "real fights". So have you, only you missed it because you expected it to look like the chair demonstration rather than a fight. Look at how an older George Foreman fought. He rotated his body rather than just throwing his arm; force backward became force forward. He always used his connection to the floor under his feet. He seemed to take insane punishment without much injury, even from extremely powerful punchers, by staying relaxed and dissipating the force through himself. I won't say that Big George's natural toughness and strength didn't assist him in the application of these principles... but if he just relied on his build, he would not have been nearly as good as he was. And he would not have been able to knock men out with punches that looked like they shouldn't even hurt. George's hands seemed to weigh 300lbs.

      I think it probably involves way more than just biophysics. I don't know what that would be, and in the current scientific paradigm it's hard to explain, so people think it's fake.
      -
      Take a look at Martial Man's videos on Adam Mizner or other masters as well. Clearly it's not just biophysics, if you think what he's doing is real and not just a trick. Which I do think is real, having some martial arts training myself and developing a discernment for what's real or not in a video purely by observation after having researched this area a lot.
      -
      It floors me how some people who've watched 1, 2, or 3 videos from Martial Man, and then proceed to think that that is the totality of the internal martial arts. Uh, people, what Martial Man has here is called a youtube video channel. You know that thing where you can host and store lots of your videos. Maybe, people, it'd be a good idea to check out a bunch of his other videos.
      -
      Or that people watch the videos, yet comment as if they didn't watch them at all. In one ear, out the other. (Or is it in one eye, out the other in this case?)
      -
      If you have watched all his other videos, this then doesn't apply to you. Just a general statement to casual viewers of his videos.

But plenty of people watch a video of this or that, but for some reason fail to realize he has a whole channel dedicated to this area with plenty more information
      -
      And what "alignment with latest trend"? That's got nothing to do with what I said.

  • @dfullerton93
    @dfullerton93 4 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Fa Jing is really just the physical manifestation of constructive interference in wave theory. The legs produce some force that is lessened as it travels, but then that wave force hits the hips which add their own force in sync with the leg force, the total force goes up and travels to the shoulders where it has lessened slightly due to moving through the body, the shoulders take up the wave, add their own force to it and let it flow down the arms to the opponent. Force loss through the body is minimized and each part of the body adds its individual force to the total force package delivered to the opponent.
    Its not that old masters have some secret power, they have just spent years perfecting their timing of body motions to minimize wasted energy and deliver all available power to an opponent in perfect timing.

    To me, it feels like yin and yang are like open and close, expansion and contraction, expend and conserve, or seek and withdraw. Two different modes for directing your intention or will and when they work together you get extension and direction.
    So as a simple example, you can open your hand as wide as you can, or crush it into a first as hard as you can. But if you do both at once, your fingers will extend forwards with an accumulation of tension at your finger tips. It even takes compressive pressure off the joints. But then you'll notice that when you do that, the tension on your elbow changes, then your shoulder, then your neck and chest, then your core, all the way until you follow that line of tension to the tips of your toes.
    It doesn't take strength, it takes focus and coordination

    They say the waist is the commander. That is what spirals. Between the pelvis and the bottom of the rib cage there is no support except for the spine and the various abdominal muscles. So the abdominal muscles are used to create a waist twist which is the spiral he is talking about. Stand up straight and rotate your rib cage without moving your arms but simply by using your abdominal muscles. Let your arms hang at your sides. It takes a while to feel it. The rotation or spiral or twist of the abdomen is very slight but it's there.

    i like learning taichi but in the end as a martial art for self defence where does any of this assist when an attacker doesn't want to hold your arms, and is coming at you with skilled strikes aimed at your head, kicks from various angles...who doesn't want to comply and is unpredictable... in a real fight you have split seconds to react. I worry people are losing faith in these fighting methods because we see very little in the way of real sparring...you can't even find any real sparring videos where the master wears protective gear against an attacker who wears protective gear but is asked to genuinely attack, no holding back...videos that shows the students how taichi can overcome any real life attack. I had to leave my class because i saw students after 10 years of training show no usable skills in self defence...I still meditate for long hours and practice my form as i feel strong Chi throughout these exercises, it feels like pure ecstacy, powerful, magnetic, warm, fluid... so i know Chi is real within me and i can direct it...but transferring it's use into real life self defence applications has not materialised 'yet'...i am hoping that continuous awareness of our life force can allow us to sense another persons Chi and allow me to evade and attack on the basis of this Chi interaction...that would be very useful :) ... but i am going to also train in a more physical art as i could get attacked any day...and Tai Chi at the moment for me is only going to get me hurt that help me defend myself..

    I reckon this may be best explained using Newton’s first law: action and reaction are opposite and equal. When the leg is pressing downwards on the ground, the reaction generated from the ground is rising upwards in equal amount. The main secret is to understand the origin of force is not from any parts of the body but from the leg. Taiji theory 太极拳论 states: 其根在脚,发于腿, 主宰于腰, 形于手, rooting in foot, transfer to leg, control in waist, manifest in hand. Thanks for sharing this video as the master uses the gadget to explain well the Yin Yang theory, supplement by the sparring to demo the theory and its application.

      If his legs are generating the power, how is it that he did it to several people at once while *seated?*
      More likely, his volunteers are just in on it and deliberately jumping away, and this particular guy has all the credibility of Uri Geller.

    The theory stuff I don't know if it's real or not but the demonstration at beginning is not real. The students definitely jump back, you can see their legs jump back as the master pushes. Maybe the master tells the students to exaggerate so that the audience understand what he is doing, but there should be no exaggeration in martial art, everything must be clear as daylight. Otherwise, people will look left and right and don't know what is real and who to trust, like NOW.

      This is 100% fake martial arts that only works on brainwashed students . Look up the Tai Chi and Gung Fu masters and lineage holders who have been getting their asses kicked by amateur and self taught fighters . If you want to join a cult , follow these guys . If you want to learn to fight look elsewhere. This is now referred to a s fantasy based martial arts versus combat based martial arts. Waste of time. Look up Xu Xiaodong, a self taught fighter . There are various methods in the internal arts. The method Master Lin teaches focuses on is the theory of Yin Yang to create the Jin. There is no mention of Qi (chi) in this method. Thank you for the positive feedback.

      @@THEMARTIALMAN Thank you for sharing. I have added a comment there also. This is similar to what Dr. Yang Jwing Ming has described in detail in Qi Gong foundation lectures. He has described the way to Qi Gong is Body, Breathing, Mind, Qi, Soul. Regulate your body with mind until it you can regulate without thinking (practicing form), Same goes for breathing and mind. Then we can feel the Qi. Please try go get an interview from him. He has even described in Qi Gong foundation how to move Qi with breathing and intent to heal the body or to use it for martial purpose. I am thinking to get a yearly membership in your website next month.

      Chi most be harvest,stored and transfer or release.But to do that you most be hard on the inside soft on the outside.Its wat you call internal explosive power.So the body become gest the tool expressing the chi force.

    Very cool shit. Now do it fast. (I'm sure he can) Also, you need to achieve a certain mental/emotional state to be able to do this in an actual violent encounter or the physical technique and particularly the energy technique, will not work. To be that relaxed in the middle of a violent encounter requires a ton of training.

    • @THEMARTIALMAN
      @THEMARTIALMAN  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      james pisano you raised some good points and I agree with what you said. Achieving the correct mental state is key if you wish to use these skills in a violent encounter. For some, the idea of using these skills in combat is not so important, however, they certainly have the potential to be used in that way if you train for it 👍

    • @jamespisano1164
      @jamespisano1164 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@THEMARTIALMAN The good news is, as you train, you reap enormous mental/emotional and spiritual benefits. In fact, the spiritual benefit can really only be gleaned when you practice the martial aspect of the internal arts. Some people just want to play Tai Chi to feel good and don't study the martial side. They won't get the full, spiritual benefit.

    My understanding as of now : You shape your structure dynamically using a spiral form that transmits the opponents force to the ground, at the same time (or in time) you adjust your form so that the the applied force bounces back from the earth through the readjusted form (from the foot to the hand) and the structure simultaneously returns the force to the opponent. I am guessing that with time and practice only an infinetesmal imperceptible adjustment is needed. Please correct me where I'm off

    This has become a rather esoteric journey.
    You seem to be concentrating on the "internal arts" to the exclusion of the intricacies of purely physical expression.
    It would be interesting to see you in a Muay Thai camp, Peter Consterdine's Thursday night class or one of Lee Morrison's sessions and see how you respond to that, as well as how those practitioners of the martial arts work with the internal guys when they are brought together.

    I wonder how often he trains at this stage in his life or is it not necessary to train in order to have the power that he has? What I am asking is does it get to the point where you don't really need to practice in order to keep it up? I noticed that sifu was out of breath, which I find a bit strange considering he is hardly using any muscle force at all. What is really going on inside of him?
