That's BY FAR THE BEST "room tour" I've ever seen!! I'm more than impressed. You have to know that me too, grew up with the arcades you are showing and working with! I remember back in 1978 how I was smashed by the first arcade cabinet I encountered. It was Space Invaders. BTW I had also a very early experience as a little child with a Pong Cabinet in 1974.
I'm so stoked on the fix I did yesterday. A game I got a while back has always looked washed out. Well I unplugged the RGB connection on the chassis and plugged it back in and BAM!!! Turns out the connections are just loose inside the connection pin. What an easy fix and now my monitor looks sooooooooo good. Only other problem I'm having is the vertical position. (The pot on my remote board broke off)
My father worked at a tire shop that had a Tron cabinet in the '80's. I was raised on it as a child and is still one of my favorite games. Didn't know there were people that hated on it. Such a classic and still fun today.
John thanks for uploading this, I've been mad ill over the holiday period & these videos are absolutely awesome for taking my mind off everything as I recover, I tip my hat to you.
I think you hold player 1 and 2 at the same time to switch games....Donkey Kong was my first arcade cabinet-also because of watching King of Kong. I met a lot of friends through 80s gaming. Man I miss living up north! Best video ever John. I am glad you took the time to do a walkthrough. I love the stories. Also, how dare you have Jump Bug. I love that game. The one at Funspot is the best though. The sound is all messed up and the graphics. It really adds an element of difficulty. :)
This will keep me going for ages. Thanks for going through each cabinet John I'm learning a lot. Make sure you have a lie down after this mammoth video lol.
Hey JOHN Have a Happy New Year man i wish you the Best for you and your Loved ones,i love your Videos and this one is a Real Treat ! wish i could be there enjoying some of that stuff with you. Am really Glad you did what u love to do in the Pub with the Arcades, its great when u can take it to the next level with your hobby and make it sort of a part time or full time job. A few decades ago you really could have made some Serious Money with that ! I cant wait for next part and also the Video you owe us from Hong Kong trip.Stay Cool Johny lots of regards from Greece !
Its the best time of the year!!!! Cant wait to watch this. Thanks for all of your hard work this year and i look forward to a new year of games. Happy New Year
I watch this and end up crying.... Happy memories of early 80s Arcade gaming..... Pure history in your videos John... Rygar (Legendary Warrior) you ever played? Tecmo 1987, I believe 😀 🎮 ❤👍
John great Video, Love the end of the year Videos. For Track and Field , you use a popsicle stick and put it between your middle finger and and your other two fingers and it makes your running super fast.
Hi John , I just love your arcade, I am so jealous :) I think my favourite cabinet of all time has to be Tron , not the game so much but that cabinet with the black lights is freeking awesome. It looks so futuristic and at 44 years old I've only played it once when I was young in a theatre in Castlebar here in Ireland. My dad was buying some arcade games from the arcade room slash bar in the theatre, but unfortunately he didn't buy the Tron game. I think the closest game to Tron we ever had was Gorf, with the similar joystick. Anyway John I hope your arcade career goes from strength to strength.
I'm subscribed and I see it's been a year since you uploaded a video. I really enjoy your videos. I gotta say sometimes your repair methods result me a little harsh to call them somehow but at least you succeed on make them functional again and I love your basement. I would love to have an arcade like you but I don't have the room for that amount of cabinets, my game room has 20 systems (From Atari 2600 to all Sega and Nintendo consoles and new Xbox and PS ones with hundreds of games) and a single arcade emulation cabinet with 40K roms (full romsets and MAME library) but I really envy you since not all arcade games can be emulated like Monaco GP or Computer Space. I hope you upload new videos soon because I miss you and your basement. Lol
Hey John, glad you got those Pac Man sunglasses!! I worried about you getting them. Thanks for having it on the show. That really Rocked man! Hang on to my token! Thanks Bro! -Me
JEEEZ JON!!! So I recently finished rebuilding the wiring harness on our Ms. Pac-Man that got stuck in a fire. And I couldn't believe it but when we plugged it in, we heard a medium buzz. Okay, so I hit the start button and behold! It works! Unfortunately, the monitor has no picture even though it is getting plenty of voltage. We're talking with Buffet Arcade Man to see if he can figure it out, though.
i cant believe i watched the whole video from start to finished! haha wow pretty kool to see arcades back and operating in public places!! is that kof 98 still a bootleg? lol :)
There is no actual CPU or "computer" in Computer Space. "The final Computer Space design uses no microprocessor or memory; the entire computer system is a state machine made of 74-series TTL chips, with graphic elements held in diode arrays"
What TheTurnipKing was trying to get at is that a CPU integrates the logic into a chip, but if the logic uses much bigger and fewer discrete transistors (rather than having an insane amount of tiny transistors integrated into a CPU), then it's still a computer, just not a CPU-based computer. The Computer Space manual alternates between "computer" and "brain box" terminology.
@@RWL2012 TLDR: CPU is made out of TTL, resistors and capacitors "integrated" into a single "chip". It has a CPU in effect, it's just not in a single chip. See, for example, the MOnSter 6502 and other similar projects, which reimplements the classic CPU with larger scale "discrete logic" It's all fascinating stuff, for sure.
Hay jhon I was wondering if your going to do a end of year review for 2019? I so do miss them. Also was curious if you got the Firefox and i-robot fixed. And got the electro mechanical pinball machine working? And congratulations on the MORTAL KOMBAT 2. It looks sweet. I don't know what happened and why you stopped making videos. But really do miss your content you really go in-depth on arcade repair and haven't found any other channels who do that. So just wanted to know.
Zookeeper has all the sounds and effects that Robotron had. Haven't seen Firefox since it was in the arcade in 1985 avoiding the cruise missle was very difficult. Ever come across Crazy Climber? How about Vanguard. Or how about the laser disc animated games like Cliff hanger or it's more popular cousin Dragonslair?
Yay, time for the annual "I suck at 720!" video ;) Thanks for the long vid to chill out to while soldering stuff. Quick question if you feel like answering, who covers the insurance for your games at The Hangar? I dunno how you sleep at night having them out there, there's a lot at stake haha. HNY anyway John. Looking forward to PT2 and future vids.
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech I regret selling my Ice Cold Beer & Star Wars arcade...but had no room for new punballs...got a Revenge from mars because of your channel and a Road Show..
Im sure you already know this but Computer Space also made an appearance in the movie Logans Run. Didnt know it was in Jaws to. Such a cool and neat looking game for its time.
Damn, that hangar's impressive. Only time you'll ever see a dedicated DK3, Gaplus, US Mappy, and red DK in one place. Though I assume you're aware that the board of the latest is not from an actual red DK, and thus doesn't have the ladder trick? I seem to have extreme luck finding rare dedicated cabinets. I've seen a fully working Baby Pac-Man, original red DK (with the original board with the ladder trick), and the rare DK, DK Jr., and Mario Bros. cabinet. Unfortunately, the place with Baby closed down, but the other two still stand.
When I got my game (Ms. Pacman) I had a similar experience as you with your Donkey Kong, where I overpayed and the picture wasn't the exact machine I was getting. However, I think I ordered from a business, so they had a lot of restored machines already ready to ship, so I got mine in about a week in a half, and it has worked great the whole time I've owned it.
I'm on the hunt still for a Cliffhanger or Badlands arcade games. Someday they will pop up and I will be ready. I just picked up a Mat Mania for 250.00. Next to Pro Wrestling on NES.. It was one of my favorite arcade wrestling games.
I had a look at the clip on utu be of the arcade scene. It has a shooter game called killer shark then computer space and a row of about 8 other arcade machines . jaws was released in 1975 but was probably shot in 1974. It's not possible to see if cs is working thou. who made that killer shark game does John or anyone know anything about the killer shark game ...
I saw a Computer space a while ago in the 90s in a arcade in Brooklyn ny I didn't know what it was nobody was playing it this with at the time when millipede and centipede and miss Pac-Man was popular at this time

Always a pleasure to watch your videos John, Great Arcade!... Side note: Not sure if this was mentioned before but I noticed your "I-Robot" has the headphone jack/volume control area just like "Firefox", Was that factory that they hadn't installed it?, or someone covered up the area before you acquired the machine? just curious. Thanks For the vids!

Guess the troll had to give a thumbs down, but traffic is positive good or bad so justice is served! ! Kept waiting for a slow motion of running a red light or a car crash at the end :0 haha. Big thank you to John for all he does for the hobby, good info!
Hey John, could you try the paperboy bonus finish line glitch? (I DID NOT discover it, i forgot who did) You have to steer to the VERY far right of the finish line and miss the trigger. The points counter gets confused and gives you tons of points and if you keep doing it then the bonus stage gets really glitchy and eventually crashes. I think this only works on earlier revisions of the ROM though(I think it was before rev 3).
I've seen other people do it on actual Paperboy arcade machines. I tried to do it on the PS2 Midway arcade classics game but could not get it to work. It works on rev 1 and possibly rev 2 but it wont work on rev 3 of the game. I plan on trying to perform this in MAME but I would like to see you try it on a real machine if the ROM version is the right one. Sorry for the long comment. Keep up the good work!
John's Arcade Game Reviews & Tech I knew it! Thanks for a great year. Great show for me--my kids watch with me sometimes too. It's exciting to watch you and Jay move into operator mode. All the best to you and your family in the new year.
I tried it again last night... It's hold down "JUMP" when in the DK REMIX KIT and "1P + 2P" when in the D2K kit. I have both installed at the same time and it's a bit confusing for sure.
John, Actually that would be a great episode all of the hacks-cheats for your games. Like Track an Field using a comb, Paperboy bonus round going past the track on the far right at the end, Tempest a certain level you die with the proper score and you get like 40 credits. And so on.
Big fan. followed your channel for a couple months so far. Fell in love after the first video i stumbled opan. Baby Pacman. What happend to that game? did you trade, sell, or it broke?
That would just be SOOO awesome!!! I Love Jaws, but I must admit one of my favorites scenes in the movie is the arcade scene just because of Computer Space. LOL
I just want to be able to SEE a Computer Space in real life. When I went to the Frisco, TX museum, their specimen was in the back awaiting a more accurate paint job (or so they told me).
I found this Paperboy Arcade manual it shows how to calibrate the controller on page 2-4 www.gamesdatabase.org/Media/SYSTEM/Arcade//Manual/formated/Paperboy_-_1984_-_Atari.pdf
That's BY FAR THE BEST "room tour" I've ever seen!! I'm more than impressed. You have to know that me too, grew up with the arcades you are showing and working with! Fun Fact, this video has the exact same runtime as the movie Titanic (1997)
Thanks for the content John!
juntistik I'll take this over Titanic any day!
I'm sinking I'll watch that movie
It doesn't get much better than this! Thank you John, really enjoy your videos, time and energy you put into everything.
Thanks for watching!

I dont usually comment on TH-cam videos but I gotta say John this video here is exceptional. thank you so much for making cool stuff like this for us!
Thanks, Sean!
From start to finish that was cool to see you run through everything! Great Vid!
Can't believe I just watched all three hours worth. Awesome video as always.
Thanks! :) Hope you like it. :D

I heard Pole Position finish booting at around 4:46. I heard that "BOOM" Sound effect
John great Video, Love the end of the year Videos. For Track and Field , you use a popsicle stick and put it between your middle finger and and your other two fingers and it makes your running super fast.
I remember a similar technique but with a comb. Damn cheaters! :)
I agree, missed your vids John, actually watched one earlier and was like..man I could use a new one. Perfect timing.
Awesome! Thanks!

My official favorite channel of 2017!
Woot! Thanks, Bob. :)
I love seeing the Artwork i sent you when you do your End of year Review!!
Love the fact that you spent a ton of time on Mad Planets. Love that game.

Great video John! Looking forward to 2017!

Track and Field is one of my favorites 👍🏼. I always used a pencil or pen for the buttons to go faster 😀

John isn't the switch on Donkey Kong to hold down player one and player 2 start? Those don't usually get used simultaneously.
I tried it again last night... It's hold down "JUMP" when in the DK REMIX KIT and "1P + 2P" when in the D2K kit. I have both installed at the same time and it's a bit confusing for sure.

Jump Bug Looks like an Early version of Super Cobra.
Oh Franz, Is there No Hope?
Where did you get all of your games
Koda J Sciuto. Arcade Super Store, LA. (lower alabama)
Could the Firefox volume control also affect game volume?
There is a volume for the headphone jack and also one for the game.
I was thinking that the headphone volume affected both. But a minute later you tried the headphone jack.
HAPPY 2017JOHN
i wish we have a good arcade places in Knoxville Tennessee
So is that a cover version of seperate ways by you jon at that end that you like to use? And do you have it on the killscreens soundcloud?
Yes, it's on our sound cloud. It's called "What a Trip"
