John, could you do a series listing every arcade game in the order they came out? Maybe do a year per episode. That would be awesome. You could highlight the developers and publishers/distributors, talk about the rarity and level of success. I think you would be the best man for the job.
Your beard rocks. Adam rocks. Pyrat rum rocks. Popcorn machine rocks. Your hats rock. Wobbly table literally rocks. Great end of year video John. I first saw you in last year's end of year video and have enjoyed all your content since then. Thanks for it all - you are a charismatic presenter - don't change!
That Vs. cab is a thing of beauty. Why, back in the day, I could see some place turning three of those into this island of Nintendo goodness. Such wonderful shape. Hope the spilled Coke only took out that common marquee. A shame it couldn't split in half to make transporting through narrow spaces possible.
Happy New Year guys! Love the show, love all the knowledge and information you guys bring and the basement is legendary now. Hope to see more John's Kitchen episodes this year if he has time to fit into his crazy busy list of to-dos
I have a popcorn machine and use those same packets. The trick is to melt the butter first. You can do that 2 ways. One, stick the packet inside the machine (not the kettle) and turn the warming light on. Or two, and what I usually do, get a bowl of hot water and stick the whole popcorn package into the hot water. It melts the butter, and then it flows out nicely. For whatever reason, my popcorn always seems to taste better too, when I melt the butter first. Maybe more butter? Maybe the butter being hotter when I throw the popcorn in. ---- Also for best results, leave it under the heat lamp for 10 minutes. Tastes best when the moisture has a chance to leave the popcorn.
came back to watch the bit about the computer speaker amplifier :) funny thing is even turned up it would only be like 750mW to 1W RMS, but the size of the speaker and cabinet means that there's still a good body / depth to the sound!
Thanx for the vids John! Happy New Year! I live through ur vids and dream of owning my own arcade cabinet games one day. Even though they are mad expensive to buy and maintain not to mention the space, thanx to rasberrypie I am able to relive my childhood games. It's not exactly the same feel but good enough for now.
That cabinet at 2:30 -- I could have sworn I saw one at the Teddy Bear Arcade (in Boston, now long-gone) but with maybe a Taito game in it. This was maybe 1993 or 1994 so I don't remember the game, but the cabinet I remember well enough.
Great part 2 dude, your arcade rocks. I didn't know the powerdrift had so many problems but I've played the shit out of it on the Sega Saturn and that one would be a keeper for me if I had it.
Yup! He commented he had a tool for the job on part 1. As soon as John said Adam would be in this video, I thought for sure they would be opening that mystery coin door by the end.
Well, I guess you missed the area where he said he might like to do that live. But yeah, I guess Adam just got it, or they would have done that a long time ago.
Wow, same bottle of Pyrat? It doesn't last nearly that long at my place ;) It's very good stuff, I use it for tropical tiki-style drinks. Add some orange/peach/mango, or banana/orange/pineapple juice and you've got yourself a nice and quick tiki punch. Cheers!
Castlevania vs is indeed different from the NES version. The NES came first, then they ported it to the arcade vs version. It's a bit more difficult in the arcade vs version. This guy here has a great video on the differences. th-cam.com/video/R52oSK6CcaA/w-d-xo.html
Funspot has an upright dual vs system cab with Duck Hunt and Hogan's Alley installed, totally epic haha His cab looks brand new wow what a find! My goodness John you have a crazy PCB collection haha That Technos Japan PCB is a Double Dragon. Looking forward to the TMNT restore to commence, later man. -Mitch
Fantastic video as usual John :-) Quick question, when you visited Manchester UK last year, did you go to Arcade Club in Bury (near Manchester)? It's a great place.
Long time fan. Still working on my mame system, probably a bartop with a raspberry pi. Simply Austin has a great front end. Love the vids. Keep 'em coming!!!
The VS hard case, would be left or right side depending how you ordered it? The marquee would be cut to either left side or right side depending on which game you wanted to swap out in the cabinet...
I wouldn't put the darts in the Hangar. Avoid putting any more games there that have parts that can be stolen. Save yourself another headache. You'll be constantly replacing darts. Really looking forward to seeing if you can finally fix the Hantarex and the TMNT restore in the spring. Great work as always!
I love your videos, John...but there is one thing that always "grinds my gears" that I just have to mention to you. You (and Adam) keep saying that you have no more room. Dude...you have plenty more room! You are just not using your room in an efficient manner. First, clean and organize your garage and your "storage space" in the basement. I would bet that you can totally empty that storage space and still have plenty of room in the garage for working on projects and/or parking your cars. Second, move your office space over into the old storage space. Finally, do whatever rewiring and renovating you need to do. With a little time and effort, you would probably double your space and have a larger arcade...on both sides of the stairs! :)
I like that you're experimenting with the "on the road camera shots". But get yourself a proper mount man! Let me know if you need some pointers. It took me a while for mine to get the angles and mic inputs correct. But it's worth it.
So, Adam, I guess ya meant "actual _cabinet,_ " rather than "actual game," since these games in the MAME system upstairs *are* the actual games already. Right?
@@Johnsarcade Its now 2024, last YE was 2017 and I bet your basement is empty. I am now helping and fixing machines all over the UK and you was an inspiration for that .
Have you ever considered a VS Duck Hunt or VS Pinball PCB? That is tons better than the NES version! Pac-Man Plus is fun to play once in a while. It's funny how the ghosts disappear when Pac-Man eats the item.
Hi John, if you’re reading this then the artificial butter wasn’t deadly! Rum should last indefinitely but may lose some flavour as time goes by. Oh and Adam has a new subscriber! Great video as always 👍
John, I have a very rare Chinese Hero PCB along with the Marquee..... I'd appreciate your help in guiding me to a collector who may be interested. Btw I enjoy your videos. Thank you for your time and hope to hear from you soon.... "We Arrreee iinnnn the Basement"
I think ya gotta take that "New vid every Sunday!" bubble off now. ;-D (Oh, and while you're at it, remove "and pinball" from your logo heading, because "arcade and pinball" is either partly redundant -- "arcade, and arcade games with metal balls and pins" -- or it's like saying "pinball isn't an arcade game" even though it is.) Happy Groundhog Day.
The top monitor on my PC10 duel is the same as the left monitor on his machine, where the very top of the screen is cut off. That means I need a cap kit?
On my vs. Dual System, the marquee’s are thick paper, behind glass. I wonder if Adam’s are the same, which would explain the stains on them. The glass and paper are not stuck together.
Console PC gaming channels are a dime a dozen. Not sure why you repeatedly try to springboard this great channel over to the other one. I'm here for classic arcade games.
So.. the wobbly table. John. You know it's annoying. Maybe you thought once a few hundred people mentioned how hard it is to watch, you adopted it as your thing. It's Not. A. Good. Thing. I can't hear you talk when your popcorn maker is taking up half of the screen and shaking around. Step it up man. You should have a cool looking fixed set for when you're in your most common space in the videos.
I love this channel, it is so casual and fun, Adam is a very nice person.
Thanks, Martin!

Let's see a tour of Adam's arcade
Keep up the great work on your channel there John. Always interesting stuff.
You guys never got to opening the Ice Cold Beer bottom coin door!!
He might be doing that LIVE!
Maxx Fordham! Yeah, didn't Adam mention he had some special tool to open it up?

I found a miss pacman arcade game at my town mall!
But the cabinet was a little dirty but it was in great working condition!

Adam says "sure" about a thousand times.
Bob Marley Sure.
yep yep!
what are you on about ? it was only 999 times!! LOL
Love these Videos the All Access is always awesome and this year it was no Different Keep up the good work Johny
Adam needs a Multi-vs Lite for that bad boy. Then you can easily switch each side to 8 games with a knob. Saves wear and tear on the PCBs.
19:54 = that looks like Choplifter, which is an awesome game

great vid! subbing! coming from Ireland-some of the arcade games you have are in an arcade i go to! and i am very happy! :)
Dude i wanna goto the basement too!! but it's a far faaaarr away from Wellington New Zealand hahahah
That is a super nice split cab. Nice score.

Adam look really relax in this one or it could be me
Yeah I'm starting to get a little more conformable int front of the camera. ;)
Great video John! Let's get your car parked in the garage lol...
Our minivan did not make it in the garage this winter, first time, it’s bugging the wife
dont knock the first red shell and judge the second red shell so when you land on it you bounce onto platform. easy
Well the problem is you don't post every Sunday anymore, so maybe they do?
space wars and space war are NOT raster infact it is the very first vector arcade machine. and highly sought after among vector collectors
+Arcade Jason yes I know. Someone else pointed it out. I made a mistake
all good buddy keep up the vids
+Arcade Jason I've played the game too. Lol. I spaceddd
great as always, you really do need a guest wireless mic !
Yeah, I know. Only one mic input, though...
you can come up with a plan im sure

Space Wars is a vector game. It's a simultaneous 2-player, great game, $100 is a great price!
Oh yeah. Look at that. It is. I really thought it was raster. I have played it too. OOOOOPS.
New sub from South Africa!😆👍 thanx for this awesome channel.
Awesome! THANKS!
You talk a lot about those Nintendo VS games but dind't mention my favorite VS game: Mighty Bomb Jack. You don't like it?

That's typically called "fold over" and yes, cap kit.
Thanks for the quick reply man. Alright, I've never done one before, but I'll watch a few videos and give it a shot when I feel confident enough
