Dolly Parton, not David Foster, wrote and released "I Will Always Love You" nearly 20 years before it was used in The Bodyguard. In fact, it was one of Dolly's many chart-topping country hits!

Dolly wrote and sang it in 1974 (it was a single), recorded it again for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack in 1982 - then The Bodyguard bought the rights for Whitney to use it for the movie. In fact, Dolly thanked Whitney for making her all that money. The other original big hits in The Bodyguard are I Have Nothing and I'm Every Woman, which David Foster and Linda Thompson did co-write for Whitney and the movie.@@theresebell1198

Fun Fact #2: The necklace scene was also improvised. Richard Gere actually shut the case in Julia Roberts hand and her reaction was genuine. She was hungover and feeling like crud so Richard wanted to make her smile and it worked for the characters so well that they kept it in the film.
