  • Nomad Design is committed to developing the best lures on the planet. This video goes through the development and testing process of Nomad Design lures.
CRAFTED BY EXPERIENCE means a great deal to our team, it’s more than a just a phrase, it’s been hard earned through decades of experience on the water. As the founder, former Captain and fishing guide of one of the world’s premier blue water sport fishing charters in Australia’s remote Coral Sea, I required the toughest and most effective lures and tackle to stand up to the challenges of fishing for some of the biggest and meanest fish on the planet.
By drawing on my passion for creating lures, engineering degree and decades of fishing experience in the ultimate testing environment, I’m very proud to have been able to design and produce lures that are not only the toughest and most technically advanced on the market but also look and perform in a way that fish cannot resist.
Every lure created starts as a sketch before being 3D modelled, prototyped, perfectly balanced and then rigorously tested in all conditions. The internal weight options are selected, manufactured and hand tested on the water to achieve the perfect action and balance for every style, every time. With the construction locked away, I hand draw meticulously chosen patterns and colours for each style of lure, based on the target species and prevalent bait fish, resulting in an exceptional factory hand painted lure protected by our Triple Shield clear coat. The world’s best hooks and terminals are then chosen as the final accompaniment to a Nomad Design lure.
My lures are the result of a lifelong passion for fishing and an uncompromising desire to create lures for every species of fish, inshore and offshore, anywhere in the world. I can say with total commitment, Nomad Design lures are Crafted by Experience.

I love fishing with the madscad and the dartwing. Both catch fish like crazy. I have a problem with the maverick though. The lure seems to want to tumble when I cast and then the line gets tangled with the hooks. I'm gonna try replacing the trebles with singles and see if that will help. Hopefully it does because I love the action of the lure when it isn't fouled

I bought 6 of your Nomad lures (online) to use here in Northern California for tuna. They run great but I haven't got a chance yet as our season starts in August when they run off our coast.

I have a bunch of these lures. dartwing in 2 sizes. 2 madscads. the maverick, riptide and another one I can't remember and I dont feel like digging into my box. They are my fav due to 'build quality' and through wire builds are my fav. What is that green looking fish there. I think you called it a 'Green Gobby'? It looks like a Snapper?? ( U.S. terminology for a fish that looks very similar )

Catching fish on unpainted lures proves that these wild, vivid color schemes are meant to attract the fisherman more so than the fish.

Hi Dave - The gear on Nomad Charters has a tough life. At sea for 4 months at a time the full set gets a service when the mother ship is back in. On average we reckon 4 months aboard Nomad is equal to a 'normal' reels life. Working 7 days a week, catching BIG fish and living out in the elements when not in use.
