Great to see and Hear these great Saloon's again at a formidable track like Silverstone, I'm honored to be part of the history of the Lotus Cortina with the Group 44 inc. Lotus Cortina . cheers Tony a2z racer
Memory bank overflow. Driven, as I remember, the way they were driven in the old days. Heaps sideways with the inside front wheel hanging in the breeze. Thanks for posting this vid.
Used to drive like this on public roads in the 60s racing others nutters in my very tuned Cortina that's the stupidity of youth I guess. lucky to be older and wiser with no guilt. But on the + side traffic was a hell of a lot lighter you couldn't do it now. mk1 Cortina what a car blew everything of the road even the mighty mini. there will never be another time like that. I feel privileged to have experienced that time. I missed it so much I bought another one and its sitting in my garage right now YES!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing...you make racing a vintage car, (albeit a well-setup race car), look as easy as a sunny Sunday afternoon drive. MAD SKILLS! Fun to watch-thanks for sharing, (am I repeating myself?).
I owned one, in fact two, the most fun car I've ever driven bar none. Totally predictable and consistent, I loved mine. I have had way faster cars, but none more fun than a mk1 Cortina. I miss mine to this day.
Such joy when you combine a good driver with a well prepared car
