      True, it is one of the most toxic social media apps, though I would argue that is par for the course with a lot of other social media apps sometimes too, some people just seem conviently forget about that when the toxic social media site is the one they frequent the most. Instagram is infamous for giving people body dysmorphia and carrying a lot of the same toxicity traits as Twitter, same with Facebook and TikTok (while also being infamous for messing with people's data and privacy).
      Even TH-cam can carry toxicity like that, like how there'll be some messed-up comments made under dog/cat videos, for example.

    I understand what you're trying to say, but I don't think "snap" is the right word to describe Akane's actions, because it makes it sound like she lost control of herself in her emotions and did what she did in a fit of rage or desperation. She was desperate to leave her mark in the show due to external pressures so she followed the director's advise to oppose Yuki but fumbled and scratched Yuki's cheek by accident due to nerves.

  • @hiiro1213

    For the people saying that other anime are more gut-wrenching:
    It's not the fact that the person's gonna die, or it's gore, or bloody scenes. It's because she's still living but going through pain. They say that dying is more peaceful than living with trauma, being bullied, pressured, etc.
    In this context, this isn't the only depressing thing about the entertainment industry. Scandals are popular out there, and personal problems happen too. Even if they don't get hate, some people are perfectionists and thinking that they did something wrong can pressure them their whole life, especially if they can't rant it. If you've heard of Ensemble Stars, you'll probably understand too. It's more directed to the idol industry, but same thing. Difference is that, their suicidal thoughts come from (mainly) personal/family problems. Well, no matter where the problem came from, you can't exactly say that “this isn't gut-wrenching. Other anime can be worse than this.” because the person that's suffering it feels more gut-wrenched than the watchers. Even if they're not real-life people, imagine yourself in Akane's shoes. It's as terrible as bullying (even of the bullying is a joke by stupid people).

    • @kittenmimi5326

      Yeah. Other anime tragedies are usually not as realistic or accurate on mental health topics, it's often amped up for drama. Like what are the chances that you live in a world thats split in half between demons and humans? Zero. But what are the chances of someone getting depressed due to their job, cyber bullying, and feeling inadequate? The chances are very high

    • @missstranger7697
      @missstranger7697 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Or to people who say Kana suffered worse than Akane.💀

    People work so hard, yet no one look at them, but once they make a mistake, all the attention flows in, in a bad way. Thats just how the real life.
    I was a shy and quiet kid in highschool and theres one time im not feeling so well and i snapped, i only say f** you to a friend. And all the people act like they just witness the most evil crime ever, i felt so guilty and for a couples of day they all gave me that offensive eye.
    People in my class they casually get angry and say f*** all the time and there doesnt seems to have a problem with it, everyone laugh n brush it off like "lmao its just his/her personality, s/he always does that anyways"
    But when a quiet one say it, its like the end of the world. People just expect someone to be a certain type of personality, to not ooc

    This whole incident in the anime definitely highlighted the toxicity of the internet, with all its haters and bullies, and how mindless these “social justice warriors” can be, and how all this can lead to someone wanting to kill themselves. The whole time I watched it I just thought, if she really killed herself, then afterwards there would be all these people who’d come out and defend her, saying how the haters deserve to be punished and whatnot, or the haters might feel bad about what they did. But it would all be so pointless, because what were these people doing when she was alive? It’s like a bystander doing nothing to stop a murder happening in front of them, and then persecuting the murderer afterwards. Or a murderer feeling bad after they’ve killed a person, it’s all meaningless to the person who died, and their loved ones, who have to live with their death.
    I think another lesson this show had, that didn’t garner as much attention as the whole internet drama, is the fact that a lot of times, the people involved in the production of these shows have as much responsibility to bear, if not more, as the haters online. Because oftentimes, just for the sake of producing an “interesting” show and getting ratings, and getting people talking about the show, they will intentionally film the show in such a way that vilifies a completely innocent person. They know that doing so would result in all this hate, they know it’s entirely their fault because this was exactly the result they were looking for, to cause controversy and drama so that it would get people fired up. We see them do it to Akane, even going so far as telling her directly that she should attempt to cause conflict with Yuki, who was the show’s favourite, and then when the whole scratching incident happened, they intentionally withheld the footage they had of the two girls making up. Even when things came to a tipping point and Akane tried to commit suicide, they were reluctant to release the footage just because they knew they would be held accountable for everything that happened.

    • @BearClawzNY
      @BearClawzNY ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I don't know about that i think it exists pretty much anywhere with an entertainment industry. It may be more intense in Japan since Japanese society doesn't like stuff that breaks the norms or social harmony, But I have heard of similar things play out with content creators & other entertainers from America & other places. The thing is the entertainment industry no matter where in the world has a lot of dark secrets behind the curtains. You would be surprised how many people in the entertainment industry can easily put on a facade and fake smile. Also I feel like people who don't have as much experience as mainstream or bigger entertainers might be caught off guard when they see the dark sides of the entertainment industries or get brutally attacked online or in real life. Another thing is a lot of entertainers have fans that expect stuff of them a good example is musicians some musicians might become famous for making rock music for example but then they switch to another music style and the fans don't like or want to except it & wind up ridiculing or attacking the person. This is just my thoughts though I definitely don't think that kind of behavior mostly exists in Japan or East Asia. I think it's more of a human thing then a cultural thing.

    • @windygrass9807
      @windygrass9807 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I know that pattern is almost exist in every entertainment industry in every country on certain degree. But that exact behavior as in this anime depicted is surely Japanese culture. In country like Japan and Korea, it's almost common that entertainers or "idols" there would commit suicide over losing popularity or a minor mistakes or criticism. Not to mention their fans can be really obsessed with their idol to extreme level. I'm from SouthEast and it's not that crazy here.

    I used to think the veil of anonymity provided by social media had really allowed us as humans to unmask our cruelest behaviours.

She worked for native companies in her country such as World Wonder Ring Stardom from 2016 to 2020, and Wrestle-1, in addition to having made appearances for foreign companies such as Ring of Honor, Pro-Wrestling: EVE, and some independent promotions in Mexico. Kimura was a second-generation wrestler; her mother Kyoko Kimura is a former professional wrestler.[5]

Heck, one of the chapter in a novel I read was about MC being involved in an accident and somehow, some still blame him for that. 'Oh, he's trying to garner our sympathy', 'Oh, the group is better without him', 'Oh, he should just stay in coma. Look at how sloppy he is now'. Like, what the heck?!
