- In this video I fish with the Shimano Curado MGL XG151 Casting reel paired with the Abu Garcia Veritas Tournament Edition Rod. I catch a largemouth bass on bed and a 20+inch Northern Snakehead. I used a Z-Man Baby Goat lure to catch both fish.

I have few Curado MGL 150s that I use for snakeheads. I have been very pleased.
Digging the commentary, man. I just picked up a Veritas, myself. Walmart. $54. Purpose: I want to do a head-to-head comparison of their version of a 7'6" baitcaster vs. a custom rod I had built with similar specs (for almost 4x the cost). I love the custom rod, but I want to explore the question, "What do you really get by spending the extra money?"
People think that just because you buy something at a place like Walmart it's going to be crap. Not always the case! Some of the old Berkley Lightning rods I bought in the early 2000s are still in great condition after having caught a hundred fish. If you know what you like, and you know what to look for, you can find 100% usable gear without breaking the bank.
The owner of American Snakehead Customs just snapped his expensive custom rod on a hookset... 👀
I think it's all marketing bullshit. The Abu Garcia Veritas Tournament Edition Rod I got def seems worth the extra coin than my UglyStik carbon... Quality and feel is top notch. I cant ever see breaking them on a hookset. There is no reason a rod should break on a hookset on a Snakehead .. even if it's 17lbs.
I was pulling in Giant snapping turtles on my medium light
