I read in the comments that some people complaint that its done with the fist (Uchi Uke) instead Kake Uke, but i am tired to explain people, that depends of the style. I do besides Shito RYu also Goju Kai and this is correct!!!!
Good video, hugs from Toledo, Spain ♥ 2 Dan here

Well said! It's like that old joke: how many karate-ka does it take to change a light bulb?
      10.
1 to do it, and 9 to stand around saying "that's nice, but that's not how we do it in my dojo"
      XD
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment - we really appreciate it!

I used to love Geki sai dai ni, it was one of the few kata where I could vividly imagine being in a real fight and totally steamrolling my assailant. As a result, my geki sai katas were never all that pretty.

This is fantastic. I really appreciate the reasoning behind the slight variations, and especially like the emphasis on accommodating the differences between different Senseis. Many online tutorials are like "this is the way it's done", but in reality there are many variations. Thankyou for helping people around the world by factoring that in. I look forward to implementing this learning in the dojo.

Thank you so much for this lovely comment, Grant!
Karate is at its best when we celebrate all the different ways different instructors have left their thumbprint on the katas. Different isn't wrong, but sadly there's this weird fundamentalism that "my way is the only way" that restricts us from learning more.
We hope you will enjoy our other videos - we've treated all the kata up to Kururunfa :)

Another excellent video. The way my dad taught me was the first step went back instead of forward and the punches were Jodan level using an inverted Hiraken aimed at the throat. When I asked him why he did it that way instead of the way I had seen it done at competition his explanation was (his way was better for a real life confrontation). I never questioned him again after hearing stories about him as a Military Police Officer in New Orleans in the late 50s and early 60s from my Uncles and the local Shotokan instructor.
