I’m still having trouble with Banner Spear. We have failed the 1st scenario twice 😅. We must be doing something wrong?! Anywho. I’m a new fan of yours and can’t wait to see what other Frosthaven content you release!

My first character was a Blinkblade, and coming out of Gloomhaven it was very much the same "set up for broken thing" playing exactly the same each scenario. Now retired and just starting with the Boneshaper, I'm going to have to work a lot more on initiative weaving, selecting cards based on scenarios, and preparing versatile turns. I'm looking forward to the learning curve!

I’m soloing, and I’ve played all but the drifter so far. Boneshaper is by far my favorite at this point! I enjoyed the germinate a lot, even being lost-averse; I just had to accept that they wouldn’t level up quickly. My least favorite is definitely the deathwalker. I really struggled generating enough shadows to make them really shine
I am pretty hit or miss with summon chars but what I love about the Boneshaper, you get a lot of controls over your summons. No more wasted turns of them doing nothing helpful! (well there's still some of that, but not nearly as many)
Even then, we've found that suciciding them ahead has been helpful, especially saving some big attacks from your friends. It's incredible like takes up a top action, take 2 damage. And our average longevity so far has been a couple attack 2s and then one enemy effectively gets disarmed for one turn killing the skeleton instead of hitting the Drifter or Blinkblade. We routinely have skeletons falling apart but it works!
We will be fighting over Blinkblade here at home. Cragheart is still my favorite, I loved manipulating the map with obstacles, I feel the Bannerspear speaks to me but as we will only be playing 2 players I can't pick her ( we continuously struggled with Scoundrel the very first time we played Gloomhaven). I also feel attracted to playing the Deathwalker but again, if my partner picks Blinkblade we will need to balance that out :( it is gonna be a fight for who gets to pick their character first and who gets to pick the second character to balance that pick.
Ohhhh I thought I knew I was going to double hand the deathwalker and bannerspear. As a veteran gloomhaven player I'd dismissed the drifter as too easy and germinate as too fiddly. Still think the latter might be true for me. But the drifter now sounds much more interesting. And I'd already been interested in the boneshaper. Now I'm thinking I'll have to roll a dice to see who I play they all sound super viable and fun. Thanks!

I thought the same and was going to start with the Banner Spear but ended up going Drifter after it was my #1 class to test in Frosthaven playtesting, it's great! Although I can see how people might want a more unique and flavorful mechanic like the Blinkblade or the Deathwalker!
She plays fine ESPECIALLY with a Banner Spear or Drifter. Given the reduced monster count, often either due to soaking up hits by big stuff being wasted on a skeleton or the defensive turns where your minions can gang up on enemies while they focus on your tough friend, it usually leads to strong play. The BS/BS combo is going to be iconic in 2p.
I started a boneshaper/blinkblade party and it did not go super well. We ended up adding in a drifter as a dummy 3rd for our two player party and it made a HUGE difference and allows both the classes we were playing to really shine.
My first couple of lessons with 2p boneshapers: I outran a skeleton at one point, and I played the bottom of Angry Spirits then never got to use it. Playing with melee-drifter.

Banner Spear / Boneshaper is the go-to synergy so far. I do think Drifter synergizres really well with any party if you want to try a variety of peeps, you can just play them as melee/heal and it's pretty low-mental energy if you want to try a higher effort class like the blink blade at the same time.

Bannerspeer: not recommanded for new players even though its low complexity. U need alot of experiance or amazing memory for u to feel at hime with this class.. everything that happens in a typical gloomhaven /frosthaven game plays into this class an u have to anticipate it to play it effectivly and understand which formations u can pull off when.
In low player counts the frustration potential is big. Best case scenario play this class on high player counts with other meles and open information with solo rules. This class is super fun if u do that.
So what's your favourite class? I think you mentioned the Drifter in the past right? Really struggling to pick a class over here. My first idea was to play the Boneshaper but now I love the Geminate, Deathwalker and Bannespear as well. Just so many good options :)

oh oh Deathwalker! PERSONALLY because I love her but also given your two buddies will be up front a lot you can send shadows to the front and not get all cluttered up there! They're both rad options and no matter which you pick will fit just fine!

Drifter yes! But the lore is kinda meh, the class is mega fun! All the starters are great though!
