Indeed he would. Our friend, Alistair was the Warrant Officer when they were at Plymouth barracks. We had many a 'fun' time at the Ladies nights in the Officers Mess. Mitch wasn't known as 'Mad Mitch', for nothing.

I had the pleasure and the honour to serve with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in Edinburgh when Jim Mc Bain was QM,Shuggy Ballantine was RSM and CO was Lt.Col Graham (later General if I believe correctly),I can honestly say it was without a doubt the best unit I had served with in my 22 years in the Army.It's a shame to see them reduced to a small company strength.
Me too - Dave Osborne (RIP) was Master Chef and we were deployed to Kenya and witnessed the Colours presented by Madge at Redford!

@@mitchwild8238 If you listen carefully you will hear me ask politely "excuse me" I never asked him to move. Only i will know what i was going to ask him but he ignored me. Not a problem as he was busy keeping the line.
@@tomwheelan4259 It is pretty obvious that you wanted him to move out of your shot. He probably heard you fine and as you say, he ignored you. This is completely normal in these circumstances. Good video though. Thanks for capturing it for us.

We still do, a primary reserve regiment in Hamilton Ontario, Canada.

Why is that!?? Hearing it all makes me just a little nutty. 🥴🤪🤨 The music just stirs some deep hidden emotions. They sound awesome. But just can't figure out why I react this way.

The Various Scottish Regiments over the years. --- I thought that your Introduction to this Video. Was / is Very interesting asto what happened to the Soldiers after they were broken up & disbanded as THE A & S. Highlander's. ---- I know that they are now the Balaclava Regiment , what's left of them . Very sad the G.ment Cutting them all down. ------ Anyway , Many thinks for recording this . Have You got anymore of the A & S. H.Landers or the other regiments Marching in Your Hometown. ----- Tom , was that you saying Excuse me to the Officer before he walked off. ----- * was this the Final March of the & S. Hi John - Glad you enjoyed my short movie - i have some footage of another parade with the A&SH when the battalion returned from a tour in Afghanistan but it is lying in the vault somewhere. Yeah that was me trying to excuse the fine gentleman from blocking my view. He had all of that road to stand to the side but chose to stand right in front of me. I needed to be polite in asking him to move as he had 350 of his mates with him on parade.
I think this was their second last parade before they moved onto Stirling.

Part of an Army wide reorganisation. Smaller full-time component, bigger reliance on reserves and, it is said, more security with postings and better training opportunities for larger formations, rather than individual, and mostly under-strength, battalions.

Thanks for posting this, Tom, It’s a fine parade and the video has encouraged a few ignorant bigoted arseh*les to crawl out from under their rocks which is always nice. What do you think about the transfer of 1RRS to the new ‘Ranger’ regiment? Can’t be great for morale to lose all this proud tradition and esprit de corps if they are rebadged. What about the serving Celtic fans fans?

@Marko : Sorry to disappoint you but you are totally wrong. The British Armed Services recruit from Commonwealth Nations as ALL their Citizens have a "birth-right" to apply to join the British Armed Forces, provided they are of good character and with no criminal record at home. Once in the Regiment, future promotion is purely on ability. The Africans, along with the Fijians, tend to favour prestigious Regiments (like the Scottish ones) or the Brigade of Guards and Household Cavalry. While serving they retain their own Commonwealth Nationality and will hold their own passports as "not being a British Citizen" is not an issue. Why not? I bet if you spoke to them they'd have Scottish accents! (Or at least obvious Brit ones) So what if they are black? Not at all unusual in any British regiment surely... What century do YOU live in? The British Army has a much longer tradition than many (like you, obviously) think of multicultural make up....IIRC In that excellent book "Pegasus Bridge" (about the D-day coup de main glider operation by a company of the "Ox and Bucks") there is a bit where the men are blackening their faces for the night operation... "Darkie" Baines (one of several black guys in the unit according to the book) is offered the makeup/charcoal and says dryly "I don't think I'll bother"... Just brilliant.

Easy mistake to make Aj as both wear the same tartan - when worn by the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders , whereas with the Black Watch it is kilted to show the blue.
