    Hi i have a question, can i add references after submitting my applications?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, that is an interesting question. I am not sure why you would want to do that. I would advise you against doing that and would recommend that you have your reference requests sent out before you submit your application. What is your reasoning behind why you would add references after instead of before submitting?

    • @ahmadjomaa8675

      @@PTAPPCO sorry i should have added more detail to my question, if for some reason after one of my professors agreed to write you a letter of recommendation and then aren’t able to fulfill that task due to being busy or an emergency can i add a different professor even after sumbitting? I haven’t submitted but one of my professors backed out doing the letter of rec due to personal matters, i am just nervous it happens again after application.

    I have a VERY important question !! So when our Physical Therapist writes our letter of recommendation, don’t they have to make it out to the University of Miami, for example. So my question is, doesn’t that make the reuse of the letter pointless ? Because why would I send the same recommendation letter that was addressed to UM to let’s say UCF. Wouldn’t the PT have to at least change the school name in their first couple sentences of the letter???

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello the letter should be addressed to whom it may concern. No need to make it specifically addressed to one particular program. Hope that helps!

    Can you elaborate on the question, "I waive my right of access to this reference" (Yes or No) option under the Waiver of Reference section?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Weston! By waiving your right to access the reference the more trust that the DPT program has that your reference will be fully transparent about what they think about you. If you have done your due diligence to secure a strong letter of recommendation this should not be an issue. Conversely if your reference knows that you can read the essay they may not be as honest as they would if you waived your right to access it. Does this make sense?

    What exactly is supposed to go in the personal message/notes section??

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This s just a personal message you are including for your reference. It can say whatever you like. A warm greeting and your appreciation for your reference taking the time to help you and any specific communication would be good. Hope that helps.

    Thank you so much for showing what the reference process looks like from both ends! Is there a way to know if a reference chose not to automatically reuse? I got one notification letting me know a reference chose to reuse, but didn't get one for another.

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Isabella, thanks for the question. I think the only way to know that they did not allow you automatically reuse is if you input their information exactly the same into another reference and it sends another reference request. You can also check the status to see if a reference has been received. I hope that helps.

    Hello,
    so I requested a LOR from a professor and requested it to one program I'm applying to, but if I go to another program in the reference section nothing is there, does this mean I have to request over and over again for the programs I'm applying to or should it be re used for all?

    If the referrer chooses to reuse their reference, does the personal message/notes section for each additional request need to be the exact same as the original request?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว

      Andrew...I'm somewhat confused...are you referring to the personal message that you send in your reference request, or the letter of recommendation that your reference uploads?

    • @andrewhogan8418
      @andrewhogan8418 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PTAPPCO I think I figured it out! I was just referring to the personal message you send in your reference request. I wasn’t sure if the message (ex: ‘yep’ in this video) had to be the same in each request for it to go through completed without requiring any additional work from your referrer. I figured it wouldn’t matter but didn’t want to get ahead of myself and send a request with a different personal message and make my referrer fill out the form again.

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andrewhogan8418 I would assume that message would remain the same, yes. They likely wouldn't receive that message again if they allowed you to reuse the reference.

    Is it advised to tell the person writing your LOC to not use the schools name if we are planning to reuse data?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  ปีที่แล้ว

      It would be advised to do that if their LOR is program specific. If they keep their comments general to you then and not specific to a program you can reuse it with no issues, but you may run into a bit of a snag if you are name dropping on DPT program when the reference is going to multiple programs.
      If that is the case you may need to create two separate reference requests and communicate with your reference regarding the specifics for that program.

    Hi I have a question about when your filling out prerequisites under each school in PTCAS. I got to "program materials" then under my school I want to apply to I go under " prerequisites " and I start pulling those classes from my transcript on PTCAS. If i retook a class for example they say put in your "Biology 1 grade" and I had to retake it do I put the highest grade or select both the first and second grades?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would contact the program directly and ask if they would like you to input both grades, or just your highest. Most programs just want you to enter your highest grade.

    If recommenders decide to use the reuse option, will that carry over to the next cycle?

    • @PTAPPCO

      Hi Anna, references do not carry over from one application cycle to the next. The Reuse option is just for the current application cycle when applying to multiple programs. Hope that helps.

    Have you had your professors mention that they have not been receiving reference request emails from PTCAS?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Josef, this does happen as reference requests often get lost in spam or junk folders in email. Have them check these folders to see if the requests are there.

    hey thanks for the useful video! I decided to not apply to as many schools as I originally planned to. I want to delete the programs I'm not applying to. will this delete the LOR's from all my programs if they have submitted the LOR to the schools I am no longer applying to as well as the schools Im still applying to?

    • @PTAPPCO
      @PTAPPCO  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Kinley! I am not 100% sure, but in terms of functionality of the software I believe that you should be fine to remove a program and still keep the references for the programs you are applying to. If your references have allowed you to reuse their reference you could always enter their information again.
