Great video. Friends keep asking me how I do so much damage despite the "too low numbers". Only those who don't know that the most important numbers are created in the background (e.g. with my current DK). I divide not into 2, but 3 possible damage types of builds, because shield & one-hand behaves very differently than general magicka/stamina builds. Tuning and mastering the basics does more than overly high focus values.
Same I tend to always run physical poison and fire damage on my sword and board dk. Also leap is great but I tend to only use ferocious leap for the damage shield if I run leap. The stun from dawn breaker into stacked whip hits harder and acts as a great execute. I run talons on the front bar they usually break free then I hit them with the stun from dawn breaker into stacked whip. Goodnight.
Good video & build… but why not use forward momentum and get 45 seconds of brutality, snare removal, and stam sustain? I think that’s better value than igneous weapons. At the very least, put shattering rocks on the front bar if you’re gonna rock with igneous… Anyway, GG 🐉🖤
Already have a snare removal with rat, don’t wanna rely on daedric for expedition also for me it cost almost 4k Stam better Sustain not using it at all don’t care for the minor recovery I tried it already
keep RAT with forward, never hurts to have 2 forms of passive removal. 4k seems expensive, I feel like mine is 2-3k or something, either way GG mate 🤘🏼
This build looks really fun but I have a question. (I'm new to making builds) Your character has low pen and (maybe?) low weapon and spell damage, and kind of low crit chance on the attribute sheet. So where do you get the damage from? is it from the flat bonuses that you get from essence thief or what is it? I don't mean any disrespect I'm just trying to learn and I thought damage was really dependent on pen in pvp.
@@Boulderpusher damage in PvP is a mixture of weapon damage, pen, crit chance, and percentage damage. To keep it simple, I’ll mainly focus on pen & weapon damage. When he’s fully buffed, I’m sure he has 5500-6000 weapon damage, and that’s without factoring in essence thief’s buff. Essence 10% damage done, can sort of be compared to 6600 penetration (I showed the crude math on another comment on this video). Additionally, weapon damage will give better healing, which penetration doesn’t do. That said, you’re right about penetration being important. However, if you have 18k pen and 4k weapon damage, you’re not gonna have a good time. It’s about striking a balance between the two. If you can get weapon damage to 5500+, you’ll usually be ok if you have a decent amount of penetration. Obviously stacking damage above that is great, both for damage & healing. Another thing to consider is that he has major breach coming from breath (6k pen), damage buffs from Saint and Seducer, plus Essence thief “6600 pen” or 10% damage done. Lastly, to touch on crit chance. It’s not really baked into DK‘s kit, so you have to build into it. It doesn’t really need the crit chance, in my experience. DK thrives on raw damage and consistent output.

The trade off between pen & weapon damage isn’t huge, so it’s best to stack a fair amount of damage for better survival, before starting to stack pen. For reference, I use essence thief & rallying cry on my DK most of the time. I have 6500-7200 weapon damage (without essence buff included) and never more than 8-9k pen on my stat sheet. With major breach, I have something like 14-15k pen.
