The new Blitzer has more in common with the old Catcher than the old Blitzer, so I would consider that Catchers became Blitzers and Blitzers became Blockers.
2 rerolls is enough to start with, don't forget you have passing access, and therefore leader could be in play quickly, especially if the thrower is the ball carrier behind blockers as the lead block guy with blitzers picking up their 'pass rush edges' and the line screening the rest.
I try to start with 4 RR in league, but 3 is OK :) 2 RR would feel like a restriction on stretch plays (I often take plays with a 33% chance of success, if success is a TD or getting the ball loose). I think it depends on how you enjoy playing the game.
@@W1DO I play, almost exclusively the deep passing game and would rather have the players to implement it than rerolls. They are a lower priority. Admittedly Elven Union need less rerolls than most but I am happy to roll up for game one with a single reroll. It means that you have to play cleaner crisper plays and positioning is more important. (especially as dodge isn't among the initial starting skills for any of the players). The second reroll usually comes courtesy of leader on one of the throwers, after one has cannoneer, of course, and the volume of passing utilised means that leader doesn't take long to acquire.
@@davidbenton8775 You definetly sound like an elf! I usually play humans & orcs btw, occasionally play dwarfs with less RR's I really like how you can pick a team based on how you want to play the game, it really is the greatest game in the world!
For a league I think I would go: 2 blockers 9 linewomen 4 re-rolls (for the many one in nines) 4 dedicated fans 1 appo Then add the rest as you get money and the Lino's die
I am a bit of a noob in Blood bowl (but wargame experienced). Thinking of taking 2 throwers and 3-4 rerolls. Our league has 3-4 pre season games to build SPP etc. where results don't matter. Thinking of passing thrower to thrower and back to build SPP as I move down the pitch to build up blodge, sure hands. Is this totally crazy
I guess amazons got an tv 1000 league starplayer roster, too. 2 blitzer 2 blocker (400k) 7 linewomen (350k) +2 rerolls (120k) Makes a total of 870tv. 50k for dedicated fans. (To farm some money) and 80k gold as cash. This tv allows u to get Helmut Wulf for 10k as 12th player. You can use his chainsaw to outnumber your opponent. Alternatively u get s high chance to get Akhorn against each team, which bought dedicated fans, too. I mean in general starting with 1 reroll is a ptice, which u have to pay, but a star to protect your team untill they get some battle skills could be worth it. And who expects to fight stars against anything, which is not halflings? Also halflings won't be able to use their high damaging stars, like deeproot against u.
Question for you Ben, is there a reason why you never recommend starting with one less reroll, and buying an Apoth and some Dedicated Fans instead in the Throw and Three for example? I've had so, so many rosters get basically benched on a bad first game where a big guy or a high value piece gets a stat reduction or dead, and having an apothacary from the beginning can make the difference of being able to save up for that reroll, or spending all your cash replacing key players. Dedicated fans are so important too in the long game for league. At least this has been my experience, just curious to see your thoughts!
Hi Ben great video! I’m just curious about Star players in general, the 2021 spike almanac made it seem like if you hire a star player in league as an inducement, they only stick around for one match. Is this the case?
Fend will deny you to follow up and hit and run allows u to reach a different field without tacklezone, next to you. So fend and standfirm just reduce their max. movementrange by 1. That seems fine
I'm happy the Blitzers have block removed! See the changes are to dramatic but think they'll be slippery customers in all honesty .....and the dodgy girls are still gonna remain annoying! Hit & Run I feel could prove real useful!
I really wanted to love this team, but they made them awful. Took away their strengths and gave nothing back. I hate the lack of catcher. Thrower is now a waste of money. They called the runner a blitzer hoping we wouldn't notice the absence of blitzers that might have supported the runners. Such a waste.

I super appreciate The videos being on point and so quick with Amazon just coming out. This helps me a lot with a tourney I'm about to get into

No. Hit and Run is not dependent on being able to follow up, just on standing once the Block is resolved.
