    I have an Aventon Level I bought back in 2019 and then another Level Step Thru I bought my wife in 202-. I have a little over 1k miles on it now as I don't get to ride as much as I would like to with work, but its been a great bike.
    I've posted a review on my page for my experience with Aventon as a company and with the Level bike in particular. Fantastic company and I would highly recommend them.

      Gonna go look at it, just ordered an aventure and the only thing I've been seeing is how poor their customer service is but the bikes are good.

      @@upsidedownpeon9984 It seems like a lot of people are just impatient and demand unrealistic things. Both my wife's bike and mine have had issues and they stood by their brand and made it all right.

      @@EricReviews indeed, though I find it weird. ordered mine on tuesday 10/19 and just got my tracking number today that says it should be delivered 10/20. I'm in Tennessee so this is crazy fast too me.

    Thank you for the review of this updated bike. I have been anxiously waiting for the public release and some reviews.. I am a big fan of Torque sensor e-bikes as they feel more natural riding. Super happy to hear the motor is quite! I had a Pace 500 Next Gen and could not believe how loud the motor is. Thanks for a great review on the day it was released!

    Been riding a Ride1Up bike I got a few years ago - like 3 years and nearly 1500 miles - and I am so looking forward to this bike arriving at my local dealer. Already have one on hold so I can snag it up! My Ride1Up is nice but it’s cable brakes and I’ve had nothing but trouble with it. And since my bike is my daily vehicle to and from work, it’s time to upgrade to something I know will stop when I use my brakes.

      Cheap disc brakes are horrible. I had them on my heybike Ranger and I know what you mean. They were strong, but screeched like crazy with no way to fix it short of replacing them. These Tektro hydraulic brakes are a lot better.

    I have a Level 1 with 3900 miles. There is no delay with the throttle. When it was new I played around with all the settings which involved a lot of trial and error but I got it to where the throttle is instantly responsive. I rely on that when I’m in tight spaces and pedal usage would instantly give you that lurch. Just fast, short bumps of the throttle and you stay in total control. I’m not convinced that the torque sensing is superior to cadence. I love this bike just the way it is.

    'Impressive review of an impressive bike. As someone with knee frequent knee pain, the torque sensor providing no delay in pedal assist when beginning to pedal sounds exactly like what I need (along with the throttle). I like the super-quiet motor, as well. And it looks like I have an Aventon dealer nearby.

      @@ace00007 As I've tested these out further, the torque sensing is a bit more amplified on these Level's than the usual torque sensing found on mid drives or other hub drive ebikes that happen to have it. What I found is in assist level 1, you can surprisingly get up to 20 mph. Very unusual to have that kind of speed in Level 1. The impact of this is, if you then go to put in assist level 2, the amplification becomes stronger, so that means you can achieve the same speeds with less effort. Usually each level of assist is more limited in the speed range it allows, so while I don't know what your ability is to provide effort into pedaling, its likely you will find it easier on the knees than other torque sensing ebike brands. Cadence sensing will always be the easiest on knees, but this is not bad on the way these Level.2's are programmed. Really its best to actually test ride these ebikes before buying, as its as much about the overall fit and ride posture, which translates to comfort and more enjoyment.

    I just got mine a few days ago after having a couple of cadence sensored bikes. I prefer the cadence sensor, as it allows me to get more of a workout. For example, I would set it so that it would assist up to 9 mph, then I would maintain 10 mph or more most of the time, and when I hit some wind or a hill, it would kick in to keep me going at least 9. With this, it helps all the time, and the assist is too strong on PAS 1.
    With the torque sensor, it only really needs 3 levels of PAS, since you're not setting the speed with it.
    You're 100% right about it being ride-able as a regular bike, albeit a heavy one. It's one reason I upgraded to this bike. I got sick of the fat tires sucking all the energy out of the battery so easily. To me, those bikes feel like they hit a wall at 12 mph and anything faster than that takes massive energy. (either from my legs or the motor) I ride probably 95% of the time on pavement, so why do I want to drag those things around?
    My one suggestion to Aventon would be to make the PAS level adjustable in the app, so I could set how much assistance comes in proportion to my pedaling torque, set how many levels there are, etc.
    Another improvement: either provide Slime (as Lectric does) or armored carcass tires. Fixing a rear flat on an ebike is a real pain in the ass.

      The 2.125 inch tires are plenty wide for traction. I have a trek Verve non electric with 1.5 inch wide tires and wish they were at least 2.1.

    how does this compare to the RadCity 5 plus? I also want a ebike that I can ride almost like a normal bike if I choose to...this one seems ok...I will not get a 4"fat tire ebike...those are imposible to ride with the motor off..

    I plan on riding on asphalt trails as well as the C&O canal trail. I can’t decide if I would need the Adventure 2 model for the C&O canal trail rides or if it would be overkill?

      The Level 2 should be fine on the C&O. I have both a Level and an Aventure and I always ride the Level on Rail Trails, the Aventure on dirt roads that washboard. Get a suspension seatpost for the Level.

    They always show lights during the day, the lum is very low and weak on most ebikes. The seats on ebikes in general are not comfortable, though this a very goodlookin ebike. One more complaint, Zoom is not a good product. For almost 2 g's , I want a better fork.

    Where is the torques sensor located on this bike? On the hub itself? Rear drop out? Bottom bracket? I'm baffled as to where the torque sensor actually is?

    One thing I didn't like about Aventon bikes (had the Sinch ST but returned it) was that the throttle lever had that weird delay while riding. It would sometimes delay almost upto 2 full seconds when you let go of the throttle lever and press it again. Does this bike have that long delay as well?

      I didn't notice any delays in the throttle. A bike we tested today had a major delay and I normally pick up on it. I'll ride it some more and keep you posted if I feel a delay.

      From what I’ve read and seen I’m pretty sure the delay in the thumb throttle’s response is an Aventon thing. My Aventure also has a delay before the motor responses to the throttle input. Owned it over a year now and it still bothers me. I find it both annoying and potentially dangerous.
      I’m curious to know if the new Level has the same problem also.
      95% of my riding is on paved surfaces I think the new Level may be a better choice for me, If…

      @@kev8839 I think if Aventon at least shortened the delay to max 0.5-1 second, which I'm sure they can by reprogramming the controller, it would be my number 1 choice for ebikes. I love the quality and aesthetics but the delay really takes out the fun. I've gotten used to near instant throttle response of e-scooters haha

    I have a Level 1 and I can't find parts. I've tried local bike shops, online bike shops, ebay, Ali Express, every where. Even the spokes are vendor specific. So, my take is, it is a excellent bike but if I can't find parts to fix it it is useless. For instance the nut that holds the front wheel on is unobtainable, I had to substitute a nut from a chinese vendor and had to wait a week and a half to get it. I'm still waiting and I am not sure it will even work. Also, I just called their support number and it says to email them a support request.

      Shop it around for sure. I have a folder that I like, but they do have some disadvantages. If you mean the XP 2.0, make sure you are comfortable with the range. It’s got a pretty small battery that is part of how they keep cost down and I see people talking about getting 10-12 miles if you are going quick, 20+ mph. I can get more like 20 miles riding like that, which is easier to live with. If you have to budget in buying an extra battery for your use case, it starts putting you in a higher budget class, which mind change what you want to buy.

      One thing about Lectric is that, except for the XP Lite, they all have fat tires, which are quite inefficient on road. If you want to go faster than 10 or 12 mph, it's going to drain your battery QUICKLY. I have an XP Lite and I had a heybike Ranger with the fat tires, and while they were super-nice in grass or dirt, they were loud and draggy on pavement.

    I always look at the number of stars. What I don't understand is many say customer service isn't the best! I would say to Aventon, how can you keep a customer who spent $2,000 waiting for parts, etc.? My purchase might be an Aventon, but I will look at other companies, and read user comments! I'd hate to have a bike and it doesn't work.

    I'm someone who has been brand loyal in my life. I like my '06 Trek Multitrack 7500 and I'm looking now for an ebike. I'll keep my '06 Trek because I've kept it in fantastic shape but I have to write here that I will be giving this newer brand a serious look and a test ride at a local dealer. Trek is a bit conservative with not offering a Class 2 ebike and they also don't offer a lot of colors on their bikes besides Trek black. This Aventon Level.2 is affordable to me being that I'm retired and can't easily spend much over $2,000 for a bike.

      Trek has been part of the problem all these years- they import cheap bikes and sell it for double their cost. Now you can get factory shipped ebikes for less than the cost of a Trek mountain bike!

    I have 2 ebikes and I’m glad this bike isn’t 70 lbs.+. Mine weights 51 lbs. with rack and bag and is about as heavy as I’d go. It is definitely possible to ride in PA 0 on level ground which I wouldn’t want to do on some of the heavier or moped style bikes.

      I would take this bike over the Pace. Cadence sensors are a little bit faster at accelerating but you have that delay and runoff when you stop pedaling.

      It has an IPX4 water resistance rating so it can be ridden in light rain.

    It’s a shame Aventon sold out to Best Buy, tough for the dealers who got them to where they’re at to order bikes anymore. The redesigned level is extremely nice, big upgrade over the 1st Gen.

      That IS a shame for the dealers, but there don't seem to be too many. I bought mine from an Indian motorcycle dealer. Are they cutting them out now?
      On the flipside, it's nice to see Best Buy continuing to carry quality products, instead of just going cheap, like everyone else. For example, their home loudspeakers are pretty high-end.

    I own a step through model of the Level. Mine has the cadence sensor. I find that I can deal with the PAS delay by throttling to start and then rotation PAS kicks in. I know that everyone is excited to have the torque sensor and I have test rode a Level 2 but I don't feel like I'm missing out. I have ridden over 5k miles on my E-bike so maybe it's more about being really familiar with how the bike functions with a cadence sensor. What I mostly would want a torque sensor for is to allow other people to ride it that are new to E-bikes but not analog bicycles. The "kick in" of the motor scares them even at PAS 1 which makes me nervous so I don't usually let other people ride it.

    I've always absolutely *DESPISED* Zero Motorcycle but I have to say I was truly impressed with their 2022 just announced *"yeah we are for real"* pure BEV Motorcycle. *WAY* overpriced and still not two wheel drive but definitely a very strong and serious effort in trying to stomp on any and all other in the 2 wheeler segment.
    Loved your wave boarding video truly a great one and I think a *FAR* deadlier threat to the entire Water Sports incumbent Industry than any realize...which is how it should be!
    Their *HUBRIS* and the *HUBRIS* of their Customers is unending!

    Throttle has a lag of 1 sec. In many situations, this can be a safety issue when throttle is urgently needed, and this lag is very annoying!!

      Normally I would agree but I like that Aventon does range test in each pedal assist level. Rather than most just posting a general number.

    Very nice bike, but needs upgrade the 4 level to a 5 to 7 level pedal assist especially with a torque sensor and not being able to use it in positon 0. Agree the the throttle should be on the right side and a 1/2 twist. Pass.

      They haven't said anything to me. I was surprised this bike came out because when we reviewed the new Pace, they said they weren't releasing any new bikes this year.

      A lot more expensive, but ‘better’ is very subjective. Usually mid drives run at lower watts like 250 watts and lower voltages. Slightly more efficient but they crater your chains and cassette way faster. Also costly pm intervals on mid drive motors. So if you like spending big bucks go for a ‘efficient’ mid drive. Best bang for buck is always hub drive.

    As an owner of the Aventon Level...do not remove the battery, charge it while it is inside the bike there is an input male nodule on the right side. Constant removal of the battery will damage the electrical connection, beside that fact its a pain in the ass not easily done...trust me...you're welcome!

      One consideration. If you leave your bike in a garage or shed in the heat of the summer, that prolonged heat is not good for the battery. Much better to take the battery of and keep it in your house.

    We got two of these for our daughters th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L the same size for age 6 and 9. It works very well for both girls. Gears were very easy for them to learn. Changing gears up takes some hand strength and is a bit hard, but they are learning. They did not come with water bottle holders- we actually got confused and thought the Derailler Guard was the bottle holder!! Regardless of these details, the bikes are fantastic- even our six year old who only just learned to ride bikes caught on within an hour of practice and loves it. Lightweight and easy for them to handle. All the parts are in excellent condition and the bikes are easy to assemble and very well packaged. Great choice for kids!

    I got the Philodo H8 with two 1000 watt motors, 4 inch fat tires, torque sensor, 21 Shimano speed, hydraulic disc brakes, front head light, rear brake light, 22 Amp 48 volt Lithium Ion battery, and hydraulic front suspension with lock, phone holder with recharger, and it's a beast. No really, this thing will do 50 Mph in throttle only. The only thing I wish it had was a better quality seat and rear suspension. So I ordered a better wide seat. I also wish it just had regular motor cycle throttle, but its a half throttle meaning you have to twist the left side of the handlebar grip instead of the whole handle bar grip.

      54 lbs but it rides like a traditional bike. The geometry of the bike and gearing are true to a traditional bike. A lot of ebikes we review feel clunky.

    Awesome bike, but aventon missed the mark on pricing here, they're in premium category now, nothing stopping someone from spending the extra $300 to go to their local bike shop to get piece of mind.

      I totally agree with you. The extra $300 or so is probably the best thing for me. I used to think I could get it direct and save a lot of money. But after reading many comments, I'd hate to spend $2,000 or so and have a bike with problems that I read about. Haydon, you made my decision for me! I don't think I will buy a bike online.

    Spending right at $2k on one of these is confusing to me when you can get a scooter that will go much faster with no effort for the same amount of money that can match or beat the range of this.

      It's for bike riders who want exercise plus longer distance. They also carry their groceries or books for school or work with proper accessories. Not to be compared with scooters at all.

      28 mph is the limit a class 3 ebike can go. Other bikes are walking a fine line with regulation. We'll probably have to register them sooner than later because of it. However, I do love fast ebikes! 🤣

    What exactly does this change? I agree that attention to detail matters and they definitely pulled out the stops in that category...at least from what I can see in your video. What's inside the frame may be totally different. I fix scooters for Lanny as you know. Quite often something looks amazing, but the wiring is a disaster inside. This is another boring, slow, gutless, tepid, low power ebike that is about as interesting as white bread. I know you guys get paid to do these reviews, but this bike doesn't really change anything. If you gave it to me, I'd find someone that doesn't know better and sell it to them. I wouldn't buy one except for a stupid low price and again...to sell it to someone that doesn't know better. Otherwise, I can't imagine owning something so under whelming.

      @@getech Did you hear the "Woo hoo" he did when he cranked the throttle? It lacked excitement and commitment. I have to wonder how many times he rehearsed it or how many takes they did before it didn't come out totally bored and uninterested. Jimmy knows what decently powerful EV's are and this bike isn't remotely close.

      YT won't let me post URLS for stuff. It's considered marketing that they don't sponsor. If the bike doesn't have at least 2000w on board I'm immediately not interested. Anything where the pack tucks into a pocket in the frame is a bad idea! you are probably stuck with whatever dismal battery the bike manufacturer offers. If I see that the thing is way too integrated and the parts are highly customized, then generic parts don't fit and you are stuck with whatever the people the make it offer. That's usually a bad deal and the parts are over priced. Things that are made with ready made parts from a dozen sources is the way to go. Stuff breaks or you want to upgrade and can't becasue you bought a proprietary setup from XYZ company that can't let go of the hook they have in your mouth and they know you HAVE to come back to them for everything!

      This bike has a decent frame and suspension front and back. It's 48v and I consider that to be low, but tolerable. I build at 82v or higher,. It's tons better than the 36v bike in this video! The frame has lots of potential for upgrades with standard bike parts. Probably the motor can be over watted a fair bit if you get bored with the acceleration. Higher voltage will get you more top speed. I'm not fond of the wheels becasue they can't ever be upgraded without total replacement. I consider this bikes specs the minimum requirement. It's not fast by my standards, but it's a place to start. Anyway, go search for this on amazon: X20 Electric Bike 20" x 4.0 Fat Tire Electric Bicycle with 2000W Motor, 48V 15/20/25/30AH Removable Battery

      Here's another bike that ought to get you started and not be entirely boring. This style of bike is mostly made from off the shelf parts that you can get anywhere. I went to electricbikeparadise dot com and found the "aostirmotor-s17-1500w-48v-20ah-1500w-fat-tire-electric-mountain-bike". It's a bike I'd say meets the minimum requirements and can be upgraded with generic parts.

      Same seller, look at the "delfast-top-3-0-dual-suspension-electric-mountain-bike". This frame and bike style is wildly popular because it is so flexible and robust and ready for upgrades and options. Pretty much nothing about it is proprietary. Yes it costs a lot more, but you are getting a LOT more e-bike too! If you go to the FAcebook forum e-bike custom, you will find hundreds of people on there who have bought the parts to make this bike or one very similar to it. It's a great design and pretty much the skies the limit with what you can do with it. Personally, I'd get the parts and build it myself for less than half of what the Delfast Top 3.0 costs.

      @@de-bodgery in my state, e-bikes are limited in class 2 to 750 watts and 20 mph max assist speed. So, that is why these e-bikes are designed with restrictions. They can legally be ridden on local multi-use paths. They are bicycles, not scooters or motorcycles. This is a good bike for the purpose intended, but not for all intentions. I ride a motorcycle for when i need speed: not interested in some half-way hybrid.
