Omar has been with them several times. He was a finalist on The Voice a couple of seasons ago. His brother, EJ sings with the acapella group Voctave. I love when either of them sing with VoicePlay! ❤
@@MrsRealistic Omar Cardona is also the Roommate and Best Friend of Cesar de la Rosa. That's why they turn and look at each other in the middle of the video. Also, that's Cesar on the high scream. He wanted to try it and Omar advocated for it. It was supposed to be Eli on the scream, but Cesar asked to do it and Eli let him. According to Cesar, Eli's reaction when hearing Cesar scream for the first time was, "Huh. Ok then." So it's Cesar on the High Scream, Omar on the Mid-Sustain, and Eli on the Low Harmony. That's the break-down of that chord. If you watch their body positions and arm movements, it betrays their parts in the chord.
Omar has not been a full time member of the group but has done at least 6 full length covers and 9 or 10 minis/shorts with them. He also appeared with them in Atlantic City last fall when they performed with the band Chicago.
He's on "The Dragonborn Comes" and "Carry On, Wayward Son," among others. As I understand it, he's also Cesar's roommate. His brother EJ Cardona (from Voctave) has also guested with Voiceplay, including on "Go The Distance."
@@karenponchak5304 I Can't Make You Love Me is one of my most favorite songs that VoicePlay has ever done, and Cesar & EJ both put on such heartbreaking performances... you almost want to just give them a hug while watching it :)
That's a great cover of "Dream On", coming from the American choral direction, with beautiful harmonies. For a contrast, there's a cover that emphasises the drama inherent in the lyrics, a version that's coming more from the direction of musical theatre: Morgan James with the PostModern Jukebox.
VP - and any guest they have - always put everything into their performances. Acting skills add to the voices to make a wonderful whole. Omar has appeared a few times now with the guys: Carry On Wayward Son, Superstition, The Dragonborn Comes and this one, plus quite a few minis.
They make it a very hard choice but I think Omar is my favourite collaborator with Voiceplay (lots of close 2nds). He’s got an amazing voice and seems to just have a super friendly/sweet personality that comes across in a lot of the bts and the minis he is in with Voiceplay (my favourites are: Valerie, Mahna mahna, something in the way, pure imagination). He was on the voice so he has some really good performances out there if you are so inclined. Also his solo song “Wait and love me” is always on in my car it’s such a good track.
I was in high school when the original came out. It felt as if the only limits on you were your dreams. After the first time I heard VoicePlay's version, I realized I had missed a lot of the actual lyrics. I now see it as 'Dream ON' - or KEEP dreaming. It's about persistence and not letting your dreams die. The meaning really hits home harder. BTW Omar has sung with them on multiple tracks. Try "Superstition", "Dragonborn Comes", "Carry On, My Wayward Son", "Whiskey in the Jar" and a lot of their Shorts!
I love cesars Mohawk in this video so much 😍 voiceplay just recently did a cover of soundgarden's black hole sun which is so good, definitely should check it out 😊💜💜
This one is just epic! "Transform" is the right word! I recently read where someone said we should stop calling them "covers" and call them "upgrades!" That might be a little negative, and I'm sure our boys never would. They have too much respect for the original artists. But, I know where that person is coming from though. It's pretty common for me to like VP's covers more than the originals. I also understand the lyrics much better. I realized recently I just prefer many voices doing a song to one voice doing it, as a rule (though not always), unless it's Josh Groban, Adam Lambert, or Geoff. Hey now, wait a second...If there are four or five ranges covered at the same time, different octaves but all the same voice, like Geoff does...is it a "solo act?" Hmm.... 🤔🤔🤔🤔 And yes, Omar has an outstanding voice. In fact he was on The Voice but somehow didn't win. 😢 But no worries, Adam Lambert "lost" American Idol, and look where HE ended up! The frontman for Queen, at THEIR request. Omar will go far, and no one doubts that! He is besties with Cesar, they used to be roomies. And at this point, I consider him an Honorary Member of Voiceplay! The same applies also to Rachel Potter, and Anthony Gargiula is only one video away, by my measuring standards (which are just mine, I'm NOT saying anyone should share them). I commented to Bemusing Bill, another reactor, how I thought I would swoon if VP ever did a song with Anthony AND Omar! He said their voices may open a portal to a different Demention! He's not wrong!😂😂😂 Glad you loved this! I don't know if you've read this far, dear Mrs. Realistic, but if so, I'd like to put a bid in for "Valhalla Calling." It's got Geoff's lowest note in it. It's my favorite VP song and really damn fantastic! Or...wait...have you done it already? Oh man, I can't keep track! And I'm on my phone, so can't check! Sorry if you have. I think you did "Hoist The Colors," didn't you? Okay, checked. You did. Well, anyway...looking forward to your next reaction. 💙💙💙💙
🔥🎼🔥🎼🔥🎼🔥🎼🔥 ... this is one hot cover !! I have listened to it over and over myself. Omar has the skills to join this stellar group for sure. Your followers will tell you more about him in the comments. I think Eli is the MVP on this one , he is perfect. I am so glad you are on the Voiceplay train.. there is so much more. I hope you do the pirate stuff , like "My Mother Told Me" .. 💀☠️💀
They did a great job. Mortius did a reaction/analysis of this one and had Cesar as a guest and that was worth watching. Omar is Cesar's best friend but VoicePlay had already done Carry On My Son (Kansas) with Omar before Cesar came on. Others that Omar has been in are Sleeping in the Hold Below, Dragonborn Comes Skyrim, Superstition, and he went with VoicePlay in Nov 17-18 to join with Chicago on stage during their Chicago and Friends Concert.
Love this reaction, you have become one of my favourite reactors! Since J. None was recruited to sing with the US Navy, they have been filling the spot with a number of guests - Omar is just one of them, having done a few videos with them now, including 'Carry On My Wayward Son' - and 'Dragonborn Comes' from the Skyrim game! His brother, EJ (who sings with Voctave, another great group) has also guested, most notably on 'I Can't Make You Love Me', which will really tug at the heartstrings! Best wishes from the UK, subbed for more! 🥰
Thanks for reacting to VP. I finally subscribed - how could I resist? Thanks - (And you REALLY need to hear their most recent drop - last Saturday - Black Hole Sun.)
Hello again Mrs Realistic I got a notification that you dropped a new reaction video. I love your reactions. This was super . I saw Aerosmith when I was 15 in Indianapolis Indiana at Market Square Arena. It was one of the greatest arenas to see a show at. In fact Aerosmith recorded a few songs from their live Bootleg album in Indy. It was the 4th of July and back then people used to sneak in fireworks and they always opened with Back In The Saddle. It was always amazing. If you ever listen to that song you can hear firecrackers going off and Steven Tyler say Hello Motherfuckers. They were always wasted 😂 but this cover is outfuckinstandig❤. I always love your reactions and will always do my best to comment on them. You are truly amazing and we all love you so much ❤❤ Just keep on posting these great reactions and I will always be back to comment. Take care of yourself and your family 🎉❤
Yes, you would love Voice Play's cover of "Superstition" as it has Omar in it and an unexpected surprise from J None. Omar is one of my favorite frequently featured guests and I think of him more as part of the Voice Play family. Omar has been a long time best friend and roommate of Cesar. He was in the finals on "The Voice" a couple years ago, Sings with local Orlando band "Epic Party Band" and is also busy (like Cesar) with local theater. Omar comes from a very talented family well known in the Orlando area.
I liked that you said “how they will transform…”, it’s a nice change if pace from people who whine that it’s not just like the original. Like, the original was already done. Random trivia: Omar is Cesar’s roommate.
Yes, I agree. I don't want any of them to be like the originals! That would be like karaoke! I knew these amazing guys would do it justice... and then some! 😊🙌 Cool that Omar and Cesar are roommates!!
That sound that Layne does, well it is similar to what wind instrument players do when they double or triple tongue. Now not sure if it is exactly the same, but quite similar. My husband is a retired band teacher and has taught many to do these techniques.
If you have please ignore but if you havent please listen to Voiceplays cover of Hoist the Colors... its not their most impressive range wise but it is my favourite of theirs by a landslide
I'll make sure I give them a good talking to... but considering I have no control over where they grow on my face, I don't know that they'll listen. I hope your comment made you feel better about yourself tho. 👍 Have a nice day.
Cesar on the iconic high notes 😊
Whooh wow! Also one of my all time favorite songs. That bass voice is not human.
