probably the connector was oxidized that's why it didn't work right away, by unplugging it and reconnecting it a couple of times you scraped away the surface oxide allowing it to make contact, I would try cleaning it with a wire brush and contact cleaner if it stops working again

You need to clean the water gutter, it blocked when it rains water gets in the blower motor . You also need to change the blower , I have been there 2
