My gut feeling says Dipendra did not kill because there was no reason for him to kill. In fact, the real killer wore Dipendra's mask and started killing only Birendra and his immediate family members. Then may be the real Dipendra tried to intervene but he too was killed. Queen Aishwarya and Prince Niranjan were the last ones to die. May be the Queen tried to catch the gun's nozzle and that's when the killer pulled the trigger and it busted her face. Gyanendra and Paras were responsible. Gyanendra is actually Birendra's half brother (Ratna's child) and not real brother like Dhirendra. All children of Mahendra and Indra were particularly killed.

The Royal Massacre was planned by CIA (American intelligence agency) and RAW (Indian intelligence agency)
The main reason was the king Birendra decided to buy the military equipment from the Chinese government and
he refused the deal with Indian government to establish puppet government in Nepal.
